Masquerade Mingle

[The night has finally come--the Gravity Rush is nearly upon us! What normally serves as a large performance hall has been gutted, emptied of its boring furniture and rigged up into a fantastical mismatch of technology and old culture. No matter where you go tonight, you're encouraged to move around, dance, play games, whatever helps you sleep in late tomorrow morning.

If you aren't one for scurrying around a ballroom all night, there's always plenty of people-watching to do. After all, so many people are wearing extravagant costumes and elaborate masks. How can you even tell who is who? Get lost in a crowd of sequins, chatter with a sun and a moon, or try to beat the guy in the monster-mask at a game of cards. Meet your friends or make some new ones--this masquerade party has begun!]

[ It's probably the only reason he tells her, honestly. His chest feels as if it's about to burst from the affectionate gesture, and although he has to glance away when he answers initially, he looks back after. ]

...Maybe a hundred years? [ His tone is reluctant, almost guilty; like a child having to admit their wrong. ]

[She pulls him in closer, more sure that something is wrong now.] It's okay. [He had a hundred years of being disliked and he wasn't going to have any more if she had anything to say about it. And obviously his memory issues aren't normal for vampires his age. It's a start. Something to check into.]

[ It's okay. That's the last thing he expects to hear in response to his confession. No further questions about why that is, what's wrong with him, why is he so much different from everyone else? Kitty doesn't delve or pry. She just...accepts it, which is something he's been craving and wanting but fearing all the same, and now that it's happened he doesn't know what to do with himself, especially when he's pulled in close like that.

So he just wraps his arms around her numbly. At first. But as it sinks in and what she's said really hits him, his grip tightens to something more normal and he slowly drops his head to her shoulder to hide the fact that his face has colour, and probably an expression he'd be embarrassed to have anyone see. ]

[Then they are even because she wasn't expecting an apology. She gives him time to adjust without letting go. She's moved to rubbing his back instead of petting his hair for now. She still doesn't realize the power that wields!]

[ It comes out as a mumble, and he's definitely not getting emotional or silly here okay so don't think that. He's champing this like a real man.

By clutching at the back of her dress a little and staying as close as she'll let him. He's not sure what to do with this sudden swell of emotion. ]

[The back of her dress is really just her back today. So much Kitty to touch! She doesn't seem to mind though as she continues to hold him. She hums along to the music of the dance as if to soothe him further.]

[ Oh man, he's got his hands on her actual skin THIS IS THE GREATEST OF NIGHTS. If he was aiming for that sort of thing, I mean. He's really just more happy to feel the warmth from her embrace, slowly starting to relax as the sound of her humming reaches his ears. ]

[She rocks back and forth just slightly aware this is supposed to be a dance too even if the hug feels more important.] We'll figure it all out.
