[ In her broadcast, Kara is in her PJs, hair down and glasses off. She looks like she just woke up not too long ago and the overall vibe is very "confessional vlog". She doesn't seem distressed, just a little confused, and tired—though her eternal optimism is always there somewhere. ]

Hey, so, question: On a scale from "wow that's super weird we've never heard of something like that" to "it must be a Wednesday on the Fleet", how common is it to just like, get a bunch of "new" information from home? Which, now that I think about it, is kind of a dumb thing to ask because we have implants that give us job skills training. But I'm just wondering. Uh, in the abstract? Something like that.

Anyway, I'm going to go get some coffee and food because I'm starving. Who knew that sleeping was such hard work?

Shapeshifting, flying, telepathy—which doesn't work on me, thankfully, but also means it doesn't work on Non—and probably stuff I don't even know about.

That's -- useful. OK not with Non but -- [ how about with maxwell lord? ] so what's 'red kryptonite'? [ it sounds like something he needs to learn to counter. ] And how'd you counter it?

You remember the whole Bizarro situation, right? Max learned about kryptonite from that, and tried to reverse engineer it. He messed up and ended up with Red Kryptonite.

[ so max made the problem but he also made the solution. why does he feel like that's not the last time that'll happen. ]

[ ok. well, that just means they'll have to work fast if it ever comes around. that also means being able to recognize that it is what's come around. ]

So what does it - do, exactly? What is it? What's it look like?

It's red and it glows? And it just makes me awful. I'm not sure what else to say. Green kryptonite hurts me, red kryptonite just... makes every negative thing I've thought surface.

[ he can't even picture it - kara's always so positive - but then, he supposes that means there's a lot of lurking negativity read to explode. ]

Well, it might...not be as bad if let things out a little more.

I broke Alex's arm, Winn. I threw Cat Grant off of her balcony at CatCo. I caught her, but I don't think this is just a "pent up rage" situation.

And anyway, I don't get to be mad about stuff. Not the way that other people can. Obviously, it has consequences.

Which is it? I should talk about my feelings more or it isn't my fault? Because those feel mutually exclusive.

[ mostly she's being a brat. she knows from her conversations with alex and james that it can be both. but the whole situation makes her so uncomfortable ]

But they aren't -- Kara -- you've always...been so strong, for everybody else. I mean look at us even now - I'm pulling teeth here, because I want to help you, I want to be there for you - but I don't know how. You just never really...let it out. That doesn't mean that any of that -- red-kryptonite-gate was your fault. It just means -- you're making it unnecessarily harder on yourself. I'm on team Kara, I just want you to be happy.

[ he just lacks the skills to get her there. what he wouldn't give to send her back to alex, to james, to her foster mom, to anyone who could make it better. ]

I don't know what to do, Winn. I feel so useless here. And it's not just a powers thing. I still made a difference after that solar flare thing. But I hate feelings like at any moment I could be changed—new memories, red Kryptonite… whatever. Just because someone feels like it.

I know - I hate it too.

[ he could wake up tomorrow and be his dad. but it's like she said - so many thing could happen - worrying about them is just torturing themselves. ]

I can't promise whoever threw us here isn't going to mess with us further I - can actually probably guarantee that they will. But there are two very main reasons why I know you'll be fine no matter what they do. Wanna hear them?

[ not waiting for a response, she's hearing them ]

First - you're not alone, not for a second. And they can mess with a lot of us, but they can't take all of us. They screwed up - they brought really powerful and really smart people here and you? Are both, and befriended both. And we're not going to let anything happen to you.

And second - no matter what they do, they can't change your core, your heart, your Karaness. They can give you any memory they want - you'll still be the kindest person on any planet, the person who wants to help, to stand between people and danger regardless of how vulnerable to that danger she may be. I trust you, Kara, and I believe in you. We've faced some crazy things in our lives -- whatever they got to throw at us - we can take.

[ he's been glad she's here since day one - facing space without her was an impossible concept when he just arrived. but now...now he's just happy to be here himself, not just so kara wouldn't have to do it alone - but because he's made friends here in a way he never could back home.

he met kitty. and oh he so hopes they can get through this otherwise being here is going to turn insufferable all over again but for now - until they talk and whatever happens happens - he can just be glad for what they have. he has to, because this is about kara now. ]

[ she leans her head on his shoulder and maybe the closeness isn't fair to him, but it's what she needs right now. she's so used to having Alex around on her bad days, it's nice to have someone to anchor her ]

[ right now - he needs it too. he may be telling her why, but he's taking comfort in her all the same. ]
