[ last time he posted anything, he was a nervous wreck and kind of nauseous. the changes the past two months have left in him are impossible to miss; winn is smiling, upbeat, and almost comfortable. the nervous energy that is there has more to do with his addressing a bunch of strangers than the constant fear of death by space-stuff that overshadowed his first feed. ]

Hi, if we don't know each other - I'm Winn Schott. If we do know each other...I'm still Winn Schott - [ shaking his head, why hasn't he learned from the last time? prepare a script! ]

Anyway! I've been here for a couple months now, and it's been interesting - and I mean that in the original sense of the word. Think about it - not only are we in outer space [ there's only a slight wince at that, and even a lot of excitement. space is terrifying - but it's also really cool ] - but we have a once in a lifetime opportunity to reach across the multiverse and learn things that haven't even been dreamed up in our worlds yet. I've been learning - a ton from just casually talking to people, but there is a much better way to do this if we all cooperate, [ open source. it's the way of the future! ] and I know I'm not the only one out there who's interested!

So, I've got a suggestion for anyone who thinks that's really cool - and - pity for anyone who doesn't [ and by pity, he means judgment. he gestures excitedly with his hands as he introduces his brilliant concept ] - 2016: A Space-Time Odyssey - a series of free weekly lectures about anything and everything we've got here. Talks about different worlds, science, history, art lessons, concerts - I know we've got some musicians here - basically anything anyone signs up to talk about, teach, perform, or however you communicate things where you're from. Since we don't have a lecture hall we can broadcast the talks - give ourselves a fun routine....and if that doesn't work for someone, I can post the notes I'm so gonna take of all of these. Who's in? Who wants to go first?

I could do history, biology, chemistry and genetics. And a spot of English literature if people are interested.

I have a genetics lecture lined up, but maybe you two can cooperate, work off of each other on a series of lectures? His name's Hank McCoy, if you wanna look him up. As for the rest of the options - yes, yes, yes, and yes. The more diversity we get the better. You can pick one to start off with, and ask the crowd which one they'd be interested to hear about in the next round?

[ Charles is briefly amused. ]

Well, I did teach Hank everything I knew. The name's Charles Xavier and I'm also a professor.

[ of course it is. he smiles a little, shaking his head at his own luck. ]

You're Charles -- [ all he's heard about the guy is his name, not recognizing him shouldn't be this embarrassing. and yet it is. ] nice to meet you, so, I guess cooperating would be easy for you guys -

[ Charles brushes some of his hair back. ]

It certainly won't be a problem. But perhaps I'll let Hank handle genetics.

I'm sure he'll do great, he gives a 'straight-a-student' sort of vibe.

[ winn nods, much as he'd love to learn more about genetics (for personal reasons as well as a healthy scientific curiosity) his public lecture program is hardly the place for that. nor is a public network. ]

Which is your main field?

Genetics. Evolution. But I have a PhD in teaching and I have specialized in other subjects.

Can I refer people who're nervous to you for lecturing tips?

Certainly, if they're not opposed to it. I'd be happy to share what I know.

I think a lot of us could use it, me especially -- it'd be pretty lame if I set all this up and lecture badly.

[ A wistful expression flits by before smoothing over. ]

I'm happy to help in -- in whatever capacity.

We can set up a how-to-lecture workshop!

[ why is he so excited about this? he's been starved for knowledge ok, don't judge him. ]

I . . . suppose we could. It's been a while for me.

That's the whole point - get our routines and our lives back, best we can.

[ he may not be in control of where he is, but dammit he's going to control what he does! ]

It'll be good practice for the school, I can't deny that. But will inserting a routine really help?

I'm pretty sure get what normalcy you can is abduction psych 101.

[ he, for one, has no intent of letting himself go crazy. he's way too at risk of it. ]

This is my third abduction and I do agree, but it also invites complacency. It's a double-edged sword, so to speak.

Complacency's sort of happening on its own. [ it's surprisingly easy to get used to this place. it's worrying, almost frightening, and a part of him wonders if the augment sticking in their heads isn't the culprit. but there's not much he can do about it so far, not much he can do about any of it except for studying it under the watchful eye of the atroma that will probably punish him if he ever gets too close to a solution, but he can't really do nothing either because then they've won already and...he can't really blame those who do give into complacency. but his mind needs stimulation, it needs something that works, not just a whole bunch of experimental projects that may never amount to anything. ]

I don't think setting aside an hour a week for some intellectual stimulation's gonna push anyone over the edge. [ if anything, it might be the perfect guise to finding a way out, figuring out if anyone might have the missing piece, getting new ideas. ]

[ Charles nods. Routine is important too. ]

Certainly not. It makes perfect sense.

[ is it weird that getting a professor's approval is kind of huge for him right now? he's been missing college a lot lately, (very well guarded secret, what with setting up lectures) and this takes him back a little. he sure does love being the a-student. ]

Sweet, a full perfect score! I was gonna take anything over half, psychology's not really my area of expertise.

I suppose I could do a little in that area, though my knowledge of it is not easily translatable for an audience.

[ frowning a little, that's...a curious thing to say, as he kind of gets the feeling he doesn't mean because the concepts are just hard to explain. ]

[ Charles smiles, though it's a little fixed. ]

[ ok -- superpowers are cool -- but that one is also scary. ]

As in mind reader? [ because his mind can get embarrassing. and bitter. and angry. and occasionally with a spark of insanity he desperately wants not to exist.

can he read his mind right now, through the network, or is it a proximity thing? this is exciting and scary all at once. ]
