[ last time he posted anything, he was a nervous wreck and kind of nauseous. the changes the past two months have left in him are impossible to miss; winn is smiling, upbeat, and almost comfortable. the nervous energy that is there has more to do with his addressing a bunch of strangers than the constant fear of death by space-stuff that overshadowed his first feed. ]
Hi, if we don't know each other - I'm Winn Schott. If we do know each other...I'm still Winn Schott - [ shaking his head, why hasn't he learned from the last time? prepare a script! ]
Anyway! I've been here for a couple months now, and it's been interesting - and I mean that in the original sense of the word. Think about it - not only are we in outer space [ there's only a slight wince at that, and even a lot of excitement. space is terrifying - but it's also really cool ] - but we have a once in a lifetime opportunity to reach across the multiverse and learn things that haven't even been dreamed up in our worlds yet. I've been learning - a ton from just casually talking to people, but there is a much better way to do this if we all cooperate, [ open source. it's the way of the future! ] and I know I'm not the only one out there who's interested!
So, I've got a suggestion for anyone who thinks that's really cool - and - pity for anyone who doesn't [ and by pity, he means judgment. he gestures excitedly with his hands as he introduces his brilliant concept ] - 2016: A Space-Time Odyssey - a series of free weekly lectures about anything and everything we've got here. Talks about different worlds, science, history, art lessons, concerts - I know we've got some musicians here - basically anything anyone signs up to talk about, teach, perform, or however you communicate things where you're from. Since we don't have a lecture hall we can broadcast the talks - give ourselves a fun routine....and if that doesn't work for someone, I can post the notes I'm so gonna take of all of these. Who's in? Who wants to go first?

[ she is calculating her odds and her chances. what seeds to plant and when, especially when there are so few she can trusts.
but there are few and that is already a blessing and one must count those before they do their losses. ]
It can wait for tomorrow.
video »
[ he's dying to see kitty but for the sake of a friend he can resist his urges a little longer. but since she seems sincere enough, he nods. ]
Tomorrow then. After breakfast, at the med-bay.
video » action
[ it's where she'll be. a pretty picture with curls falling down slender shoulders and her usual blue silks. the masquerade has revealed some truths that have changed the game, made it ever more complex. joffrey is dead which places her as the wife of his child of a brother, an easier task than joffrey but at the same time -
at the same time, margaery is once again not queen, once again having to work her way towards it and even worse, here, her chances of any control of her fate are becoming slimmer. it was sansa's evident pity for her that made it as clear as day, she's no family and no knights and while she does have sansa's favor, that does not promise her robb stark's who still sees her as anything but an ally.
how long 'till you wither? theon greyjoy had asked and while she does not consider the opinion of a wretched son of a wretched house -
mayhaps it is the time for a change in tactics. even if joffrey does arrive here, the last she needs is to anchor herself to a ship that's bound to be sinking.
the rose of highgarden, despite the smile that will grace her features as she'll rise to see him, is also clearly concerned.
which is exactly what she needs to project, at least for now. she is not one to favor weakness but she is not foolish enough to think herself at an advantage here. those she can trust ought to know a portion of the truth, at least. ]
How do you. You are well-met as always, I do hope this morning finds you well, Winn.
action
he smiles back when he sees her -- but that smile is tinged with concern the moment he spots her unease. ]
Likewise - though I'm getting the sense it isn't - [ he should have come by yesterday. guilt already starts to eat away at him, along with fear and concern. there's always something wrong. ]
What's going on?
action
[ this place doesn't have what it takes to frighten her, not yet anyway. concern, however, that is certainly been her share since the masquerade. Sansa had vowed her favor and protection and yet, if she leaves- ]
Truly. I shall feel terrible if you worry too much on my behalf.
action
he sits down with a sigh. ]
Tell me what's going on, and I promise to try and keep my concern levels appropriate. [ of course, her definition of appropriate may differ from his. ]
action
Mayhaps we can walk to my room. I do wish you would see my gift.
[ that and in a way, it is the only way to achieve any sort of privacy. even if they are being watched at all time, what is known to the audience, margaery will not necessarily share with the rest of her crew. ]
action
Lead the way.
[ he can definitely understand it but it does little to calm him down; he's had so many let's go to my room talks - they're never good. ]
action
[ she smiles as they walk. it's sweet and worrying at the same time. cunning as margaery might be, she does care very deeply for her friends, does so worry when they do and she has to remind herself that for him, she is far younger than she considers herself to be. Her room is the same as everybody else aside of the jewelry she had on her placed on a table and an impressive amount of the fabrics she had bought alongside other trinkets.
unlike himself and her darling crewmate, she cannot win high ratings from romance but flirtations and charm and playing the game had got her much in the way of comfortable living. ]
First and foremost.
[ she goes through her belongings, takes out a little basket filled with threads in various colors and some good silver needles before offering it to him ]
for your craft. I gathered as much as I could find.
action
You don't need to worry about me, I can take it.
[ ok, if 'it' is a punch, then not so much. but dealing with emotional concerns he's gotten a lot of experience with.
her room is much homier than his; instead of the toys and gadgets he would have purchased with his earnings (it's still so incredibly creepy for him to be paid for having a love life. so. creepy. the sex tapes had better never end up in the hands of anyone he ever comes across.), he purchases supplies for super suits and clothes, chemicals and gears to try and get kara her powers back, equipment to experiment opening an inter-dimensional breach with, and so many notebooks for his notes he may be deforesting another planet. his room is a bit of a crazy science lab he tries to get under control when there's company.
he takes the basket, looking genuinely moved at its content. ]
Margaery -- this is amazing - [ he runs his fingers on the threads, they feel high quality, and there's so many of them! he looks back up at her. ] thank you. [ it's such a thoughtful gift, he's not sure what to do with it. he's worried about her, about what she's yet to tell him. but right now, it's impossible not to smile. ]
action
[ said reasonably but with a smile to match ]
I hope these can be of service.
[ she moves to take a seat. ]
You know there are many from my realm here, yes? I do not know that you have met them all.
action
I'd offer to take care of yours, but it would be a step down for you -
[ her dress was unbelievable. even if he didn't have a hundred other projects to keep him too busy to practice her techniques, it would still take him years to reach her level.
he takes a seat opposite her. ]
I've talked to one that I know of - Tyrion. Is there someone..bad?
action
[ as for his question, she shakes her head. theon is a fool and the dragon queen has no dragons and no armies. ]
No. I am glad you have met Lord Tyrion, he is very clever and very kind in his own way.
[ not many see it but for margaery, tyrion's kindness was always clear. she had always thought that compared to joffrey, he would have been a more compassionate husband to sansa. ]
We are - simply from different times, most of us are and I think they have been shielding me of something that has yet to occur. My - husband to be, the King -
[ there is no gentle way to phrase this ]
He is - dead. In their time. They say he was poisoned at our wedding feast.
action
Jesus, Margaery -- I'm so sorry.
[ every inch of him wants to pull her into a hug, but considering everything he's heard about her world, he's not sure if it'd be taken as appropriate. she's just a child, she's way too young to be a bride, let alone a widow.
again, he finds himself wondering what the hell is wrong with the multiverse. ]
action
[ it's a daring thing to say, as much as it is true. if he will not learn it from her, he will from tyrion or robb stark soon enough. ]
I am still his queen consort, if he is to come here, I shall have to be dutiful to him but I shan't lie on his behalf any longer. He - he was never known to be gentle. Many here would name him.
[ 'an arse', robb stark had said, 'a monster' was sansa's definition and she is certain tyrion's can't be any kinder ]
Cruel.
action
Margaery, listen to me - you owe him nothing. If he comes here, tell me. Kitty, and Kara, and I [ he may be useless in a physical fight, but he can probably outsmart him, allow her to escape. and he does not envy anyone who tries to take on an angry supergirl - depowered or not - or an angry kitty. ] won't let him hurt you. Did he ever touch you?
action
[ she shakes her head, twists a bracelet on her arm ]
They named Loras a member of the Kingsguard so he could remain in the capital with me. As long as I had my brothers close, he would never have raised a hand to me. but, there has been others, terrible things.
[ what really gives her pause is something else entirely. she looks away again. ]
I did not tell you. I did not wish to worry anyone but - hearing of his death I began to think that they - my people must think so poorly of me now.
[ she lets the bracelet be ]
he was not my first husband. My first husband was - he was a very good man, very gentle. A king, also, claiming the very same throne. he was stabbed through the heart shortly after our marriage. Some say by one of his knights, some say through a manner magic I do not begin to understand.
[ he smile becomes a little rueful ]
What would they say of me. They must think marrying me is in ill luck, twicely widowed as I am.
action
his eyes shine with unshed tears, his heart almost numb at the pain. he wishes more than anything that he could reassure her - but he knows better than most how mean people can be. they love to assume, they love to tear down, and they love their righteous furies. he's been on the receiving end of so much of it himself, as the son of a killer growing up in the company of those who have lost their loved ones.
he really hopes this isn't the wrong thing to do, because he needs to hug her right now ]
I'm so sorry.
[ it's her grief he wants to address first. losing a loved one is never easy. losing a man she cared about, only to be forced to replace him with one who treated her horribly? he's not a violent man, but he wants to punch her parents in the face right now. that is no way to treat a human being. ]
Re: action
[ and just because he might ask he adds. ]
The king has a younger brother. He is suppose to be very sweet but then, most nine year olds are.
[ in truth, she has to almost appreciate her luck. her first husband desired her brother and out of all the three, he was the one she preferred most. joffrey was far too cruel and marrying tommen should be easy but at the same time, he is the youngest of her husbands. ]
I think I might be cursed. The bards might yet sing of Queen Margaery who buried all her husbands before the night was out.
[ she lets him hold her for a moment ]
and if two of them come here? who am I to be dutiful for? I vowed my loyalties to at least two of them.
action
Be loyal to yourself. You deserve better than this. I don't know what your world is like - [ he's getting the feeling he would hate it there, even if as a man he'd belong to the privileged half. ] but those rules don't apply here. Your duty's to yourself, Margaery, you deserve to be happy. You don't ever have to go anywhere near anyone who's cruel to you. You're not cursed - you shouldn't have to marry anyone to begin with.
action
[ but at the very least her promise in that case is to Renly ]
I do not know that I dare break it.
action
Your gods...do you believe they care for you, they watch out for you?
action
[ she smiles. in truth, she is less religious than most. she does trust what moves the world is power and politics and at times, emotions but as for the gods -
a queen ought to be united with the faith. ]
We have no sept here but I trust they still hear my prayers.
action
[ she may try to paint a pretty picture, but it seems pretty clear to him that she never had a choice in the matter. ]
You have a choice now. You don't have to be afraid anymore.
action
[ not even the highest of nobility ]
And I have little here in ways of knights and armies. I am not afraid, I am merely - concerned. There are a few here who would gladly see me fall. I would not give them the satisfaction.
