Ah, hello, fleet! Who's familiar with onigiri - rice balls? I want some. It's been too long~ I'm pretty good at making them, so hey, give me some ideas! What do you put in yours? What's your favorite filling?

[ Who knows, maybe you'll end up gifted with some homemade rice balls, stuffed with your favorite filling...~ ]

I'm not, but I'm ALWAYS up for a new recipe! How do you make 'em?! What do YOU usually put in 'em?!

You just shape white rice into a ball or a triangle around whatever filling you want, top it with sesame seeds, then wrap it on one side with a strip of nori. But that's just for presentation~ Anyway, I like ones stuffed with dried plums, or kelp... I had a cheese one once, that was a little strange to me, but still good! I'm not too picky, I like all kinds of onigiri!

Oooh dried fruit sounds great, and my friend Cheese Sandwich would probably LOVE that cheese one! What's nori, though?

A friend named cheese? I bet he really would like it~ I should try my hand at it... and hmm, What's your favorite kind of dried fruit?

Let's see... I like apples and bananas and cherries and raspberries and blueberries and blackberries and strawberries and NOTHING beats a zap apple!

But I also like them fresh and in preserves too, and THEN I've gotta add oranges and lemons and limes to the list!

I like ones with fish! But that might be hard to get... [Non-toxic fish anyway]

Fish is good! Have you had ones with shrimp? Those are good too!

[ And with a slightly audible scribble, she makes a note~ ]

Mmm, I've summoned goldfish before, but I don't know if I want to put a goldfish in a rice ball...

Shrimp? I don't think so.

Are goldfish like goldeens? [He rubs his head a little] They're alright.

Ahh. Well, if we ever come across any shrimp in space, or some space equivalent of shrimp, you should try it! If you like fish, I think you'll like it.

Well, goldeen sounds like goldfish, but I've never heard of it before... Goldfish are really small and a sort of gold-ish, bright orange color. What's a goldeen like?

I'd...say they're pretty different from that. Goldeen are about two feet long? And they're white with orange markings- and a horn on their head they ram stuff with.

[Onigiri is new to Vima she of the space food but she's always curious about new things, and with having a culinary friend on another ship, she's pretty good at getting around a kitchen now, so she pokes her head in when Kotoha sends out her fleetwide message.]

Hey there! You said something about helping out with a new kind of food?

[ Well, Kotoha's... kind of cheating a little bit. Whoops. ]

Shortcut: rice!!

[ Poof! A soup-sized bowl of plain white rice appears in her hands, and she sets it on the counter, next to three identical others. Well, that explains how she's getting the non-space-protein ingredients...

But when Vima shows up, she greets her with a smile and a nod. ]

Ah! Yes! Wanna help? I've got the rice, I just need to pick which filling I'm doing first.... What do you think? Something sweet, or something more meal-like?

[Whoa. Now, Vima's a bit of a showoff, but that's an ability she decidedly can't do.]

Wow, shortcut is right! How did you do that? [She tentatively prods the rice to check that it's real and not an illusion.] Chicken-gel might be interesting to try in this.

Kotodama! It's my ability. I use the power of words to make things. I've had a lot of practice summoning rice like that, so it gets a shortcut.

[ Yep, it's real! Solid as anything - bowl, rice grains, and all. ]

Ah! Good point, I bet it would! Maybe we could add some kind of spice to the chicken-gel too, just to give it some flavor?

[ Spicy onigiri is always good in her book~ ]

[Just to make sure, Vima tries one of the rice grains--yep, that's actual food all right.]

If the food synthesizers ever get shut off, you'll be busy. [Which is to say that this is a good trick to have in a pinch.] I knew ideas could be powerful, but not this much.

Hmm... [Vima uses the Force to grab the jars of ginger and pepper.] Pepper's traditional, I think, but I like putting ginger in things too.

[Now there's a food he hasn't heard in a very long time. Stefan's voice sounds almost nostalgic,] Fish, actually.

I don't think we can get those here, so honestly, I'd settle for just having one again.

Ah, another fish fan! [ Her amusement is audible - so is the sound of a quick little scribble~ ] But since I'm not sure about getting a hold of fish, like you said... plain might just have to do. I guess I could use the gels for protein, but... [ "Bluh!" noise. ] The point is to take a break from that for a little bit, I think~

Exactly. Seaweed would be best, or uh - what were those again? Some kind of vegetables? [He laughs.] I haven't made onigiri in forever, but I could drop by and help.

Hmm, kelp, beans? Plum-- no that's a fruit... [ She laughs a little. ] Back home, I lived with some interesting people, so we didn't always have typical fillings~

And you're totally welcome to come help! It won't be much work, I can shortcut some of it. But company is great, and making the actual rice balls is always fun.

[ ... Yeah she'll explain the shortcut thing later or something. Doot doot. ]
