I was aware of everything, but I couldn't stop myself from giving in to every dark impulse. I threw Ms. Grant off of a building. I caught her, but it was awful.

Non's already his worst self. But the Red Kryptonite was Max Lord's attempt at creating Kryptonite, which generally takes us out. He just failed at it.
