Then I look forward to meeting him if he's earned such high praise. What's he like - besides being a great pilot, of course.

[Finn grins widely.]

He's a good man. We run a lot of the war games together down on the moon - team player, good communication. Really at home in the cockpit. You wouldn't believe some of the moves he can pull in the air.

And he believes in fighting for what's right. I met him on a top secret mission to find--well, to find the guy who could bring hope back to people who needed it the most.

[She laughs a bit. His enthusiasm for his friend is endearing.]

As long as he keeps us in the air, that's all I'll ask of him. He sounds like a wonderful person. What sort of work did the Resistance do?

Oh yeah. He'll never fail you, least of all in the air.

It's a military organization. See, there's two main governments in our Galaxy, the New Republic and the First Order. The First Order's bad news - they think everyone who sees different than they do needs to be destroyed. We're talking full-on totalitarianism here. The New Republic thinks different governments can work together for a common goal and keep peace through discourse instead of destruction, but they don't believe the First Order is anything to be afraid of. The Resistance thinks they are. The Resistance is right. The First Order's not going to stop unless people stand up against them.

That's horrible. What about the people who are affected by the government's choices? Where does that leave them?

[Hopefully not enslaved or anything horrible should the First Order succeed.]

Depends what's going on locally, which government they get under, how much power they have there. Whether or not you're in their way. The First Order's not above wiping out a whole village to make sure they get a single target.

[...Or a whole system to get a single government.]

And you know this all first hand? Did they destroy your home as well?

[Wow. Why is it no matter where it is, there's always some jerk taking people's homes and killing them? Can there be a nice world somewhere please?]

[Finn gets an expression of - panic? fear? It's uncomfortable, at any rate. He was that jerk taking peoples' homes--though he refused to kill for them, and he ran away as fast as he could.]

I've seen it first-hand, more than once. I, uh--I've been traveling so much I don't really have a home. Just my friends.

[Oh. Wow does she ever relate to that. The last place she could have truly called home was the house with the red door, far and away in Braavos. She still wondered if it was still standing. She wished she could reach out and take his hand right then, a consoling gesture.]

Before the Caprine, I have only ever traveled from place to place. I had a home once... a very long time ago. Perhaps we might find some semblance of home here? We are not without friends among the crew.

[He relaxes, glad she didn't immediately jump to suspicion about why. He'd take the hand if offered, but it's probably not appropriate between a captain and her crew.]

I'd--I'd like that a lot, yeah. It's good to have my own place for once, you know?

[He narrows his eyes, thinking.]

Actually, I was thinking we ought to get the bunk upgrade so we can have our own rooms. Would that be okay, Captain?

Yes, that would be more than alright. I was hoping to take care of that as well.

[Since... she's basically been holed up in the Captain's office as her personal quarters otherwise. A girl needs privacy!!]

[Finn visibly relaxes at the approval.]

I'll put in for it, then. I think I should have enough.
