I did come across the ruins of a Jedi temple once. I mean, that thing had to have been abandoned for a millennium. Didn't show up in any records. It was a complete accident that I came across it.

[Abruptly, it occurs to her that she never asked what year Aphra's from.]

Leia was here, yes. But she's also left, along with Luke. As for who's still here from your time-- only a smuggler by the name of Han Solo. I'm not sure if you're acquainted, but he's a decent guy.

From about four or five years before you, there's a twi'lek pilot named Hera Syndulla.

And as for people from my time, there's me, Luke's father and my old master, Anakin Skywalker, Anakin's old master, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and finally Senator Padmé Amidala.

Then there's a Jedi from about four thousand years before all of us, by the name of Vima Sunrider, and two guys from about thirty or forty years into the future by the name of Finn and Poe. The same Finn whose butt I'm here to kick, incidentally.

han never figured high on her list of priorities, however, so he along with every other name ahsoka mentions is promptly set aside. all but two. skywalker and amidala. how very interesting. ]

Luke must have been ecstatic to meet his dad. [ and his mom, but that thought aphra keeps between her teeth. the jedi went to a lot of trouble keeping amidala's pregnancy a secret. aphra doubts luke himself knew of his royal naboo lineage. she's not going to out herself as being privy to such sensitive detail. ]

[Ahsoka tilts her head to the side, like she's thinking. After a beat:]

Hmm. Nope! I think that's everything. Anything else you'd like to ask?

Can I hold a lightsaber?

[resnipstance]

Sure. [She tosses one of her makeshift lightsabers Aphra's way. Catch.] It's not a real one, though.

[She would be much less willing to let someone else hold it if it were.]

aphra hops off her seat, lightsaber in hand. upon activation, she can tell the difference, one that goes beyond the difference in color.

I tried to make it as close to the real thing as possible, but they still won't cut through anything. It's a heat and energy problem-- kyber crystals are self-regulating and self-contained. The energy they produce goes around in a circuit, so it's constantly feeding on and re-using the same energy it puts out. So it never needs a power source, and the heat doesn't escape the crystal.

Everything else I've tried here doesn't come close. Whenever I manage get it hot enough to actually cut something, the parts melt or the wiring explodes.

You could play with the design. [ extinguishing the blade, aphra turns the hilt over. if she looks like she wants to get at the components inside it's because she does. ]

You might have to sacrifice the blade extension. At least to this degree. But if you can get a core for the blade, a good power cell, of course, you'll have to insulate the crap out of this thing, but with the magnetic field you could, in theory, contain the plasma and keep anything that's not supposed to melt from melting…

Most of the time we land on backwater planets that are lucky if they can even travel as far as their nearest moon. It was hard enough to get the tech for this much.

[ time to start "salvaging" from ships she's not on then. ]
