I knew I should have looked up 'reality shows' a few months back.

[ The man who appears on the screen is currently looking at what seems to be a little notepad before adding the word 'space' next to the words 'reality tv'. Really, he could have done this space setting if it included an inter-galactic war or helping planets in peril.

But in all honesty, Steve Rogers: entertainer has never been his career choice and it's not his forte, either. At least now the whole thing doesn't include singing and girls in scandalously short skirts. ]

My name is Steve Rogers, currently aboard the SS Pathstone. I've done a little bit of reading while aboard the Marsiva. I understand there are those who are trying to help the people on the moon we're visiting, if there is anything you need, I'd do whatever I can do to help.

[ you might catch a glimmer of red and blue and silver just behind him. A wink as the light hits metal ]

The same goes for going home. I imagine people have already looked into ways for us to leave this place. No one should be taken anywhere against their will. I'd like to hear about the information you have managed to collect and I'll do everything I can to make sure everyone will be able to go home safely.

[ you all get a little smile. he's so awkward at these things, can you tell by now. ]

Well, you're eager, I'll give you that much. [It's not often he's seen a person leap straight into offering to help, when they're new to the Fleet. In fact, it's the first time.

And then, a bit more dry:] All I've truly learned about reality shows is that I don't understand the appeal at all.

If they all involve kidnapping, neither do I.

[ because being kidnapped for ransom, for secrets or for revenge he had seen. kidnapping people so they could entertain others, that is entirely new to him and he really does wish he wouldn't have learned that such concepts exist. ]

I don't know how much I can do yet but I want people to know I'll do everything I can.

I don't think they do. But they all seem to involve keeping cameras on people all day, in the hopes they do something halfway interesting. [How this is considered good televsion, he doesn't know. He hasn't watched much of it, having lacked a television for a decade, but even the fare he has seen is markedly less... ridiculous, than reality.]

Kidnapping across dimensions is not an uncommon occurrence, though.

Well, I've been told the world is becoming weirder and weirder, I guess it's just one of those things.

[ he doesn't even begin to understand the 21st century. aside of the greatness of internet, even the coffee is not what it used to be ]

I'm beginning to catch up on that, some people told me that's not their first ride.

[Erik just scoffs, resigned. He's about to trot out a line he's fairly used to, for all the surreal implications of it.]

This is my third. I am tired of it, to say the least.

I'm going to try and do whatever I can to make sure this is the final after and that our next stop is home, wherever that might be for each one of the passengers.

[ he doesn't yet want to say 'hostages', there could be children reading this, after all ]

[He's just that popular. All he does in response is shrug one shoulder; multiple experiences only means he adapted faster.]

It's ambitious, but I can't fault that. It's what I want as well. Finding the path is the problem. [And the perpetrators, so they can be paid back what they've earned.]

Any clues? I heard that there are some who are sent back, somehow?

That's uncertain. [He casts a look over the chatter, not seeing Nightingale here. He could forward through her introductory guide, but she may prefer to handle it herself.] I know someone who left then returned, and I believe she said she went home in between. The majority don't seem to come back, so I'd hesitate to say it's definitely what happens.

Our hosts consistently announce that going home is our prize for 'winning the season'.

And yet people go home, supposedly, all the time.

[ there is a conclusion to reach from putting the puzzle together but it's a worrying one. still, he can't ignore the possibility, isn't one to shy from it despite the fact that it will make everything more complex ]

If the show is a decoy, I guess that leaves a question mark regarding their true purpose.

They made a broadcast recently. It wasn't the most illuminating. [But it had said enough to Erik. God-like beings who can kidnap across dimensions rarely have their toys' interests at heart.] It's still on the network if you look back a few weeks.
