oh my god, I feel a confession coming up.

[ she waggles her fingers in front of her face. like a fake mask. ]

Only one about me being an ex-dental assistant.

[ she's obviously lying. better yet, she's lying for the playful factor, and not because she's trying to keep any secrets. ]

.....you're pulling my leg.

[ pointing at her ]

you are aren't you? you're no ex-dental - what! no way.

...I'm pulling your leg. [ she smiles. ] Wow, this never gets easier to explain. Do you know anything about the Avengers?

-- No. But they sound seriously awesome. I mean, the name works so.

[ gotta be awesome ]

They are. Usually. And there's quite a few of them kicking around the Fleet, if you know where to look. [ -- kate draws her knees up beneath her chin. ] I guess I'm sorta-technically one of them? It's complicated.

[ her smile is lopsided. ] I'm Hawkeye. One of the Hawkeyes.

-- You're a superhero!

[ ahh! he all but jumps to his feet and looks at her with absolute glee ]

Hawkeye? you're an archer! dude! you're like the absolutely pretty and fun Green Arrow. That's one of the superheroes in my world. I love him but he could use a little of your attitude.

[ -- his glee moves her. kate's smile turns from bright-but-distant to warm-and-genuine. she laughs, but ultimately attempts to dismiss his reaction with a modest flick of her wrist. ]

You know about Hawkeye already, huh? Have you met Clint? Is that why? Or did someone else tell on me? [ ... ] Who names themselves Green Arrow, though -- jeez.

Um, no but as the official superhuman namer in my world, Hawkeye is a total archer codename, come on.

Is he an archer too? how many of you are there and hold on - I'm hating on the color scheme but The Arrow is legit awesome.

[ she chuckles 'cause...really? official superhuman namer? she knows some people who could take advantage of a service like that. ]

Yep. He shoots. It's -- it's just him and me, really, who trade on the name. The story's a little complicated.

Girl, it can't be just you two! superheroes come with teams these days. You know, people who should be your eyes and ears while you're out there Hawkeying! and - they can be your medical staff, too. and make your gear.

[ neutrally ]

I might be a part of a team like that, maybe. Probably.

Oh! Uhm. Two Hawkeyes. I just meant there were two of us with the same name. We both of us belong to our own teams -- his is...uh, a little more recently active than mine.

[ and now boasts two members that used to belong to hers. is she a little bitter about it? certainly. but it's not really the appropriate time to voice that bitterness. ]

What's yours like? Your team?

Oh? well. We all help our superhero, the Flash. He does the super-speed, I do the engineering of the suit and most of the toys, Caitlin does lab work and she patches him up when he gets injured which - happens.

[ a lot. ]

We're a crime-fighting unit, yes ma'am.

The Flash, huh? So what does the Flash do?

[ you can see the gears working behind her eyes. she's already trying to guess. ]

Protects Central-city against meta-humans - humans with superpowers who have gone wrong. You know, the usual, fight the bad guys, save the day and do all of that as the fastest man alive.

[ because screw you eobard and zoom, his boy is the best boy ]

He's pretty awesome.

Enhanced speed? [ kate smiles -- she sorta almost dated a guy like that. ] Yeah. I know the power. But the two speedy guys I've met are both mutants.

Definitely not a mutant, absolutely the best meta-human.

[ smiling ]

but you know if you ever needed a tech-genius for your team here -

[ laughter. warm. ]

I don't have a team here. [ yet. ] But I suppose there already some fully-fledged Avengers kicking around. It wouldn't hurt to start up the Young Avengers once again.

And they're tech-team! can't forget about those. Who's gonna make sure you guys have all the things you need? I mean - I could probably Cisco you up with some seriously awesome arrows.

[ ... ]

We could name them.

But can you make a boomerang arrow?

where will we test them?

There's a makeshift shooting range on the Iskaulit. Or so I've heard. I haven't had anything to shoot with, so I haven't bothered.

Nothing to shoot with?

We're gonna fix that. We can boomerang arrows and - do you think they'll mind explosives?

[ Cisco... ]

I'm guessing they're not pro-explosives. My, uh, mentor-guy is partial to the arrows that go bang. But I'm more of a traditionalist, anyway.
