[Apollo looks... a little flustered? Slightly bewildered? Like he might have accidentally exploded cooking supplies?]

I'm trying this cooking thing. I'm pretty sure it's not dangerous to eat, but does anyone want to come and be a guinea pig? These gel things are making roasts a lot fucking harder than they should be...

[On the Bishop, Apollo has taken over the kitchen for now. He manages to look surprisingly domestic, bumming around in ship standard provided clothing and hair pulled up into a ponytail that bobs along to whatever music he's imagining as he 'cooks'.

Cooking occasionally involves eye lasers. Which doesn't work on the gels half as well as he hoped it would.]

That'd be the one I know, then. [he snorts] Weird, but I'm glad she's over on my ship. She's a good cook, especially considering what's available to her.

I told to come over and cook here if she needs to. I probably shouldn't randomly invite people over, but no one's told me not to, so, fuck 'em.

There's nothing wrong with that. I routinely invite people over too - which - admittedly not the same as inviting people to use a kitchen, but - [he shrugs]

I'm on the The Blameless.

Man, that's a name and a half.

Hey, the more we all share, the better the outcomes in theory. Shared ingredients and skills, so long as we don't all try and cook at the same time.

It's a very ironic name, in some cases.

Mm, it is a better outcome. I've been doing a little teaching, so - I'm definitely in agreement.

[Apollo goes and serves up something like looks like a rich mince in gravy topped with mashed potato into a bowl and offers it over with a spoon.]

Here, this was my first successful experiment.

[Hank takes the bowl curiously, but there's absolutely no hesitation when he takes a bite. Food is food, and - well, he isn't the greatest at feeding himself when he should]

—this is amazing.

[Apollo looks slightly skeptical.]

When did you last eat?

[Because he's pretty sure it's not amazing. Just hot and edible.]

[listen, he's a very busy man who chows on junk when he remembers. Food is food]

Uh. [he pauses, and looks slightly sheepish] Can I plead the fifth?

You can, but we're not in America and I'm not American. I don't have a nationality.

. . . fair.

I'm still pleading the fifth.

Because that's the only reason I can think of for that sort of enthusiasm about my food.

Hey - I'm being honest, it's good. It doesn't taste like my cooking, so it's automatically amazing.

[Apollo laughs.]

All right, fair enough. I did learn to cook well enough to keep the child happy.

See? If anyone says otherwise, I'll tell them they're wrong.

Well... you do that then.

[He smiles again. He did say from the outset that Hank is a sweet boy.]

I plan to. Did you get a lot of - uh, guinea pigs?

Well - good. What else have you tried to make?

Um... there's a cake. And I was thinking muffins. Muffins can be loaded with sweet gel goop which makes that more palatable.

You're going to have many, many guinea pigs if you manage to pull off either of those.

The cake is not bad. I can think of a few things to make it better next time.

But no - this is good. [he holds up the first thing Apollo let him try] Thank you, though. [a little wryly] If I eat cake I'll be awake all night. Longer than I already am without.
