I'm trying this cooking thing. I'm pretty sure it's not dangerous to eat, but does anyone want to come and be a guinea pig? These gel things are making roasts a lot fucking harder than they should be...

[On the Bishop, Apollo has taken over the kitchen for now. He manages to look surprisingly domestic, bumming around in ship standard provided clothing and hair pulled up into a ponytail that bobs along to whatever music he's imagining as he 'cooks'.

Cooking occasionally involves eye lasers. Which doesn't work on the gels half as well as he hoped it would.]

[Apollo is not in the least bit worried about people asking about his powers.]

I'm stupidly strong and tough. Heat and light immune. I can fly at super sonic speeds and... hang on, fancy terminology. I can collate light and induce it to lase through my optical rebuilds.

[He has eye lasers.]

Probably stuff I'm forgetting. I don't have to eat or sleep or breathe, technically. My senses are much sharper than most people. My reflexes are faster, which is sort of necessary when you fly at the speeds I do.

And I glow when I do superhuman things.

[He demonstrates by floating a little bit above his chair, making a halo of sunlight form around his head, giving his hair an almost platinum shine.]

You glow. And you have eye beams -- [ yeah, she totally followed that fancy terminology just fine thanks. you don't hang around superhero nerds for this long without learning the parlance. ]

Okay, so the name Apollo is really freaking apt.

I'm a solar powered, solar battery superhero built like a greek god, according to certain sources. What else were they going to code name me?

[On odd occasion, he remembers another superhero with a similar build, with white hair and a strong jaw and he wonders if it was deliberate and how fucking creepy it is if it was.

He shakes the thoughts of Winter loose.]

S'pose it might've been Helios, guy who actually did the work.

We went to a parallel world where I had all dark based powers and Midnighter had healing stuff. Pluto and Daybreaker. That was weird.

Another one where I was female and I had a cleavage that just didn't quit, it was so.... there. That was less weird in a lot of ways, I could see myself in her easier than I could in Pluto. Pluto was so... closed off and stoic and shit.

You know, I dunno if I'd ever want to meet the guy-version of me. [ notably, this also doesn't faze her in the least. ] It was bad enough meeting the evil bug-version. And then the other version with an eye-patch and those ugly nazi pants with the baggy thighs.

Evil bug version. That must've been unappealing.

Oh, like jodhpurs! yeah, no, I don't think anyone looks good in those. Seriously, what is even the point? I don't get them.

So, you know, here comes the crux of pretty much any conversation I have with a fellow someone of the heroic persuasion, here. [ ... ] Do the Avengers exist in your world?

Not that I've ever heard of.

You heard of StormWatch, or the Authority?

Nope. We've got a Storm. But no StormWatch.

Think we can safely say our Earths are pretty distant in the ferris wheel of parallel realities.

Ferris wheel. Huh. I like that metaphor.

It helps me picture it clearly. We've been to quite a few of the nearby worlds, most of them still had an Authority of some kind. We could recognise versions of ourselves in them. Which... makes sense as far my understanding of the creation of parallel worlds.

Y-yeah. Even some of the alternate worlds I've run into here -- most of them seem to have the Avengers. Very few seem to have me, though.

I mean, I'm not Lady Di or anything. Just -- my father owns a publishing house in New York. So it's an inherited limelight, at that.

Yeah, no I get what you mean. Media mogul family.

All my life. So being Hawkeye is a welcome break from all that.

Yeah, I can get how it'd be a break. Being someone else entirely would help.
