Normal introductions? Psht.]

Uh. Hi?

Other people, however....
Komaeda pulls his head out from inside the compartment he'd been checking for hidden doors or passages.]
Ah, hello! Nice to meet you. I'm Nagito Komaeda.
[Doesn't he just seem so normal and nice?]
no subject
Chris Halliwell. You're the new guy, right?
no subject
I suppose I'm your pilot. Unless you have one already? I hadn't checked.
no subject
What are you doing?
no subject
... Oh, just checking for hidden passages or any unusual objects, you know. It's good to know any avenues of approach! [Something about how he says that indicates that he's not talking about emergency situations.]
no subject
[ He's just all... what? What? ] Approach where?
no subject
'Where'? To where you are, of course. Not you personally, but in general. [Handwave handwave. You sure are getting worked up for nothing~~]

Holy shit!
[That hair. Why is his hair -- whatever. He smooths his coat down.]
Looking for a way out, kid?
no subject
Oh, no, just looking around to get a feel for the area. It doesn't hurt to know if there are any hidden passages or trick panels, after all.
no subject
[He rubs at his temple.]
Maker's breath, is everyone around here a human teenager? I'm glad puberty isn't contagious.
no subject
Please excuse me if this sounds rude, but when you say 'human,' do you mean that you aren't? [Komaeda is not only a teenaged boy, and thus rail-thin, but is also almost six feet tall. There is... a height difference in this conversation.]
no subject
[He pauses at the question, though. It's not that he's offended, but... He looks at Komaeda, and then he looks at himself.]
You're three feet taller than me and you're still asking that?
[The corner of his lip rises.]
I'm a dwarf. Varric Tethras is the name.
no subject
...Haha, well, to be fair- [Komaeda shrugs and has the grace to look a little sheepish, a uniquely teen-boy sort of expression.] I'm used to being much taller than most people. Also, I've never met somebody who wasn't human before.
[bow bow polite Japanese bowing] Nagito Komaeda. I'm the ship's new pilot, I suppose.
no subject
That doesn't surprise me. There's already been a couple people who thought dwarves weren't real. [A shrug.]
Pilot, huh? I take it you can't just drive us home.
no subject
Komaeda takes mental notes down as Varric talks: easy-going, but a strong backbone. misdirects via joking.]
How could I pretend you aren't real if you're right in front of me? [But at the question, he shakes his head and smiles a little.] Even if I could, you would be landing on my home, wouldn't you? Since I'd be the driver.

Seeing the new guy trying to pick a fight with a door(?) gives her pause.]
What are you doing?
no subject
no subject
[There's theoretically some logic in there, but still. Really?]
I don't know whether we can replace that door if you break it.
no subject
[hey lady, look, when random murders are made to literally be your entire focal point in life, you get on top of assessing how well you can break down doors in an area, okay? ISN'T THAT REASSURING!]
Do the doors all lock from one direction or another?
no subject
[Not so sure about the reassuring part, to be honest. But she'll let that drop.]
no subject
Or, the other way around, if you were able to be locked into a room from the outside? It's good to keep track of this sort of thing.
no subject
Is that really what you think is most important right now?
