[hey, crew! how's life aboard the good ol' Golden? why does the corner of the ceiling dip down like that? has it always been that way? oh, whatever. what's everyone on this fine crew up to?]

[A ► you know what he's doing today? getting teleported onto an unfamiliar ship. what a fantastic day this has turned out to be.

anyone who happens to cross by the bridge has a chance of noticing a scary guy in a black coat and a full face of skull makeup looking very irritable and trying to shake little bits confetti out of his hair. a couple of pieces are sticking to his face, though. you know. because of the face-paint.]

[B ► alternatively, that same, grumpy, skull-faced guy can be found wandering around the interior of the Golden and looking disapprovingly at everything. the kitchen, the cargo bay, the lab... the tactical compartments... maybe even the bunk rooms...]

[There's one room he's going to wish he really didn't step into, and that is Dezel's. Time and time again he has told people to leave this room alone. He likes it. It looks brand new, like no one's ever slept in it, and that's true... but a ghost still likes to haunt this place.

This ghost gives Zhas absolutely zero warning. As soon as Skully McSkullface opens the door, Dezel is there and he is not in the mood. The wind howls through the hallway, rattling the other doors and sort of... pushing Zhas backward. It's easy to resist, it's like a 20 mph gust out of nowhere, but it's worth noting.]

This room is mine.

[Only time will tell if Zhas can actually see or hear Dezel, but he tends to assume everyone's a goddamn idiot like Sascha.]

[oh. well. okay.

it says a lot about his last couple of weeks that he barely moves at the sudden gust of wind. he tenses, yes, squinting against the sudden wind. his hand's wandered towards where his knife should be (but isn't--Marsiva took it from him), but he remains standing, gripping the edge of the doorway and gazing doggedly forward.

a couple of seconds pass before he glances to the side, and then turns his head to look inside the room further. ...he sure isn't acting like he can see him.

doesn't feel like anything dangerous, but he knows something is in here...]

[ Sora was in the maintenance supply room, updating the subroutines on Ben the cleaning droid as per the instructions that Vision gave him. It was a spot he spent a good amount of time, even to the point that he has a couple pillows on the floor for sitting. Because really, laying a bit low seems like a good idea when you're a scrawny teenager and a number of your crewmates give off unsettling vibes. Honestly, Chara alone was enough to make him lock his door at night.]

[So when the supply closet door gets open, it startles Sora. He jerks himself to be sitting up straight and looks up to see who it is, arm wrapped around his roomba. Which...looks like a guy he's never seen before! With...all black clothing and some really creepy face paint.]

[Greeaaaaat. This isn't ominous at all. But he'll still address this creepy guy.]

Uh- hi? ...Are you new?

[Well, there's no use hiding a seraph's presence when they're shipmates. If he initiates physical contact, this guy could get freaked out and mean fast. So maybe-- maybe not. He doesn't want to start a fight. He's okay with one, but their captain probably isn't.

He reaches into his jacket and pulls out his communicator. There's a small delay, then his voice comes through.]

Hey, new kid. I'm talking through this thing since humans can't usually see or hear seraphim.

I'm Dezel and this is my room. If you want to get chummy with someone, Sora's across the hall.

[ Guess who is on the bridge - at the helm, naturally - when he shows up?

The green-skinned alien girl with head-tails merely raises an eyebrow at the newcomer, and nods. ]

Hi. I'm Hera. I'll be your captain as long as you're aboard the Golden.

[he glances up at the greeting, and... wow, that sure is... a green-skinned alien girl... with head-tails...

he spends several seconds giving her a flat stare before joylessly peeling a piece of confetti from the side of his face.]

Okay.

[great social skills, this one.]

[he's just about to take another step into the room when his communicator bips to life... which gets him to at least step back into the hall to look at it, expecting some incoming transmission.

...but it's some guy talking. about. the room.

now he's squinting at his communicator. forgive him. he's dense.]

... No.

[...and bad at communicating. he looks back up at the open door of the room, not that it really helps anything.]

[oh good, this ship has a backup supply of weird scrawny robot-hugging kids in their closet.

by which I mean he really wasn't expecting to find a person in here--so a rare moment of surprise flashes on his skull-face before he's right back to his usual flat stare of general disapproval.]

... Why are you in here.

[oh good, he speaks with a creepy, gravelly monotone. and doesn't answer direct questions very well.]

[Of course. Atroma always have backup supply of the essentials!]

[And yeah. Yeah that voice does not help. ]

It's-

It's my closet! I can be in here if I want!

[Yeah Sora that doesn't make you sound less lame]

... Okay.

[since that more or less answers his question, he'll just...

...close the door again. bye, weird closet kid.]

[Whoa wait, that answer actually worked?? What do you know!! Color Sora surprised]

[Except wait a minute-!!]

[Sora jumps up and opens the closet door partly, calling after the creepy skull dude because Sora would be the first to die in a horror movie]

Hey! You didn't answer my question!

[thankfully (??), Zhas hasn't gone very far. in fact, he only took a step back, and is still pretty much right there when Sora opens up the door again.]

...

[which is maybe necessary, so that Sora can see him tilt his head in confusion. there was a question?]

Yeah, I'm talking to you!

[And not some other skullface dude!]

Just who are you anyway?

[ Well, that's - at least not a temper tantrum, which is what she feels like she's been dealing with a lot lately. ]

And you are -?

[... No? What the hell does that mean? Dezel just... stares... for a moment.]

Stay out.

[He slams the door shut in Zhas' face, hoping he gets the message.]

[there isn't much to consider, but he... seems to consider it for a moment anyway.]

... Zhas.

[at least his menacing nature is mostly just... the facepaint. this is a pretty civil (if not dense) conversation so far.]

[and she is at least not a ghost or something with fangs or a horrible, indescribable dream creature, so... really, this is off to a good start. his gaze goes back to the floor while he brushes more scraps of paper off his coat sleeves.]

... Zhas.

[Zhas may get the message, but will he follow it? of course not.

he kicks the door. like a giant twelve-year-old.]

Zhas.

[Pretty unusual name, but okay. Sure. There's a beat before he responds]

Well, I'm Sora.

[...That's what he got. He's not really sure how to feel about the creepy dude, but it's only right to introduce yourself too!]

[SO THAT'S HOW IT'S GONNA BE.

Dezel opens the door again. And this time, he does reach out to invisibly shove Zhas backwards a step.]

[So, here's another newbie showing up!

A: If you happen to be on the bridge when she appears, with the music and confetti, Caster does the only appropriate thing: She strikes what can best be described as a magical girl anime pose, because what the hell else are you supposed to do in this kind of situation?

B: Alternately, you can find her around the ship... Maybe. More likely, around the ship, you might just hear footsteps from an invisible source following you, or hear a nearby giggle from thin air. Weird, huh?]

[ Nope, not a ghost or a monster of any kind. Just a pilot. A green one. ]

Nice to meet you. Do you know what augment you've been given?

[ Honestly, the bridge is a pretty good spot for Hera to be - even if piloting wasn't her job already. ]
