[Ahsoka is wandering around outside with her usual air filtration mask on, but something is different-- obviously different. This isn't the sixteen-maybe-seventeen year old girl of yesterday. This is a pre-teen. And she seems lost.]

... Skyguy? ... Master Kenobi? I know you guys are around! You can come out now...! "Prank the padawan" isn't funny any more...

[She shudders.] This planet is giving me the creeps.

[The video is simple: a young, familiar alien graces the screen, except... something's off. Way off. It's not just that her clothes are different-- she's shorter, horns smaller, too. When she talks, her voice is more high pitched, and the cadence different too. Less... calm.]



Hey! Is everyone just okay with the fact that we can't go outside without air filters?! What sort of condition is this for people to live in? What's being done to help the local inhabitants? Or move them off-world?

I need to speak to the person or people in charge! Immediately.

Well it's so boring...

Who wants to sit and meditate when they could be practising lightsaber forms?!

[steeledskin]

[ -- because this wee thing still wants to be a jedi knight. sansa draws breath, then continues: ] He's likely right, in the end, to remind you to meditate. I cannot imagine you would regret it.

[resnipstance]

[Ahsoka slumps, defeated. Ahsoka is willful, but ultimately able to acknowledge when she's in the wrong.]

I know... you're right.

[She looks so unhappy about it though.]

[steeledskin]

[ -- she's acutely aware of the argument that happened the last time she and ahsoka discussed meditation. but sansa reaches out, now: ] We...we could do it together, if you like.

[resnipstance]

[Perking up, just a little--]

... Really? I mean-- I know it's not very exciting, but... at least it's less lonely if there's two.

[Which is her problem, really-- Ahsoka is a social creature. She likes being with people. She's not well suited to being alone.]

[steeledskin]

So long as you show me how.

[resnipstance]

You don't know how to meditate?

Well-- that's okay! I can definitely show you how. [If anything, she's a little excited to be put in the role of teacher.]

[steeledskin]

I would be grateful, my lady. [ ... ] Thank you.

[resnipstance]

You don't need to be so formal with me, geez. [and then some things never change.]

I'm just a Padawan. Ahsoka is fine.

[steeledskin]

[ at first, she feels resistance. but her agreement has been brokered with the older ahsoka. perhaps it's worth letting this fight go, for now, until all is normal again. ]

[resnipstance]

Great!

Oh, what ship are you on? I'll come visit you! If you want.

[steeledskin]

The Blue Fish. I can meet you at the doors, m-- Ahsoka. They stay locked.

[resnipstance]

Okay! I'll be there.

[She logs out, and good to her word, ten minutes later she's outside.]

[steeledskin]

[ she waits -- in silk skirts, and her hair braided down her back -- until she can see the shuttle docking. and she waits for ahsoka to appear through the narrow window in the door before she keys in the code, and allows her inside. close up, she can better see the differences. the smaller horns -- and she's shorter, too.

sansa curtsies. ] Welcome. Was your...flight easy?

[resnipstance]

[So much shorter. Ahsoka at this age is about five foot one-- horns included. She bounces over, all cheer. In comparison to Sansa's silk skirts, this version of Ahsoka wears even less than her older counterpart. A tube top and a short skirt, coupled with leggings underneath-- it seems like the cold of space doesn't really get to her.]

Yep! No problem. There's no way you can become a padawan if you don't pass flight training. Though-- it's harder without an astromech. I miss R7 already...

[steeledskin]

I've not heard tell of astromechs. [ and yet she tackles the word with grace as she gestures ahsoka down the hall. they can use her office, she supposes. a more appropriate space than her personal quarters. ]

[resnipstance]

[Ahsoka follows, looking up at Sansa as they go.]

You don't have astromechs where you're from? Gosh...

Well, they're a kind of droid! --You know. Robot. They're made to help with piloting and navigation. They're not so important on bigger ships, but on shuttles and fighters that are too small for a co-pilot, they're really helpful! There's just so much you have to be aware of when you're flying, you know?

Plus, if you get shot down and fall unconscious, they can take over control of the ship so you don't crash...

[steeledskin]

We have no robots of any sort. [ a polite, but apologetic smile. ] Nor do we have ships that fly. I never saw one -- not ever -- before I came here.

[resnipstance]

What, really? [Ahsoka's eyes go comically wide.]

So-- who does the cooking? And the cleaning?

[steeledskin]

Handmaids. Pages. Cooks. Serving boys. [ -- servants, and before the fleet sansa has always had them. girls to brush her hair and soap her back and scrub her floors. ]

[resnipstance]

Ohhh. I guess that makes sense.

Senator Amidala had handmaidens, once. When she was Queen of Naboo...

[steeledskin]

A queen would. [ a small nod, and a moment of consideration as she holds the door open to her office. ] But I wasn't aware she was a queen at all. She seems so kind.

[resnipstance]

[Ahsoka follows her in.]

Well, she's not anymore. The Naboo have a democratic monarchy-- they elect their ruler. Senator Amidala was elected two terms in a row, before she decided to pursue a career in the Galactic Senate instead!

And why shouldn't she be kind? That's why she was so beloved as Queen! I don't know anyone that dislikes Padmé. It's impossible!

Can one be an effective queen while being universally liked, and being kind? [ an honest question. once upon a time, this is the sort of queen she'd hoped to be. ]
