the gardens

[ Padmé is enjoying seeing some actual greenery outside of her brief visit to the Green Museum during the masquerade. She's walking along the path, occasionally brushing a flower with her fingers or inspecting an unfamiliar herb. Occasionally, she waters a plant or expertly plucks out a weed. It seems to relax her, and she hums softly as she goes. ]

the meditation room

[ It's quiet, intended as a place of refuge and reflection. She's alone right now, trying her hand at meditation. She's sitting cross-legged on one of the cushions and her eyes are closed. But her stiff posture suggests that she's not quite getting the hang of it. ]

[ Padmé is nursing a glass of what seems to be hard liquor. She learned her limits with the liquor early on, so she's only slightly buzzed at most. Anyone joining her will get a slight smile and not much conversation unless they initiate it. ]

[ Obi-Wan spends most of his free time in the Faith center, helping Stefan tidy up and keep the steady flow of resources. He finds that he meditates better in the Huntress, mostly because it has quietened down a bit.

Still, he hadn't expected to see Padme there. ]

[ She opens her eyes and smiles ruefully. ]

Is it that obvious?

Not to everyone, but I am a seasoned practitioner.

[ He takes a position across from her, folding his legs. ]

I would be grateful for any advice.

[ He waits a bit. Meditation was never Anakin's strong point so he's not sure Padme didn't pick it up from him. ]

Don't start off with worrying about your posture. That's important if you wish to make this a regular habit. Start with your breathing first and focus on that.

[ She'd never thought to ask Anakin before. He's a good teacher-- when it's something he is passionate about.

Padmé adjusts her posture until she's more comfortable. She carefully loosens her muscles as best as she can.

She takes a deep breath but she inhales and exhales through her nose. ]

[ He nods. ]

Only the breathing matters. Nothing else.

[ She keeps her breathing as deep and steady as possible. Little by little, her muscles relax on their own. It's still a struggle to keep her focus from time to time, but the whirling chaos of emotions around her does ease. ]

[ He doesn't say anything else, not willing to interrupt the calm she has reached. Instead, he starts his own exercises in meditation, letting the Force dictate his flow of emotions. ]

[ After about ten minutes, her concentration has slipped enough that she opens her eyes and sighs quietly. She's a little calmer, but letting go isn't as easy as she thought it would be. ]

[ It's a start. He only monitors for now. He doesn't want to push or unsettle her. Meditation is a private practice. ]

[ After a few minutes, she closes her eyes and tries to give it another attempt. If nothing else, she's good at sitting still and being patient. ]

[ He relaxes as well, going into his own routine. ]

[ Eventually her concentration breaks again, and this time she doesn't try to force herself to try again. Instead, Padmé watches Obi-Wan. She's just a bit envious of the kind of calm he can achieve. ]

[ He doesn't open his eyes but his lips twitch. ]

Is something the matter?

[ Color her completely unsurprised. ]

No, just observing. Though I should leave you to it-- I'll need to practice more later.

[ He shakes his head before opening his eyes. ]

Technically, you were here first. I can find myself another room.

[ She shakes her head, smiling. ]

You'll make better use of it. Perhaps the greenhouse will be more soothing anyway.

Are you sure? It's no trouble.

[Kaworu's excursions to the Iskaulit have been pretty minimal. Venturing out and around is appealing, but he hasn't done much of it... Lately, he's been wondering if that ought to change. So, here he is.

It's his first time in this particular room. He understands the premise of this place, or he's pretty sure he does, but it makes him more curious than relaxed. And, certainly, he doesn't wish to bother this young woman, but... There's something almost kindred in how she seems to be a bit at odds. He's on a cushion nearby, but he leans in her direction and says, quite gently,] Does breathing help?

[ She opens her eyes. Her concentration had been slipping anyway, and she doesn't mind the interruption. ]

A little. Breathing is easy, but focus is far more difficult.
