[you're greeted with the expression of a young woman, thoroughly impressed and lounging on the bed she woke up on. She's already taken a cursory glance at the network after the confusion died down into something more like annoyance, and well - a bored and annoyed Meg is never a good thing.

She scowls for a moment, until she realizes the camera's on. Then she smirks and leans back, legs coming into view as she crosses them, getting comfortable]

So, two requests. [she holds up a finger] The quickest and dirtiest explanation you can give me. I'll be counting words and keeping track, and I may even give the winner a special surprise.

Two, [she holds up two fingers now] I'm looking for some good gossip. I'm behind on my tabloids and a girl has needs, you know? And sharing is caring, after all.

Don't keep me waiting too long, yeah?

Works for me.

A staff, actually. Wands are less powerful. A mace or hammer would work in a pinch, but definitely not what I prefer.

My world is not a game. I use magic, explore dungeons, and fight monsters, yeah. I also have a cell phone, a laptop, and a tiny apartment, so... Not what you're thinking.

Probably not, but - I've heard and seen stranger. That actually sounds normal to me.

Normally people are a bit more... huge assholes about it. I can't count the number of times people have told me my world is just a video game.

I'm surprised, but it's a good thing.

Yes, and usually with offers of shoving my staff up after it to start shooting fire from it. But you would be surprised at how tiring that gets after a while.

The threats, I mean. I haven't actually done that to anyone yet.

Yet. Look on the bright side, you might actually get that chance one day. [Meg no, that's nto a bright side]

That isn't a bright side. I'd have to burn my staff and find a replacement after that.

I think it'd be worth it.

That's because you don't have to try to shop for the staffs. I've been looking for an upgrade for like three planets now, but they're all terrible.

Upgrade? [she arches an eyebrow] What exactly do you need for that?

[experiencepoints]

[... She's just gotten past the whole Dungeons and Dragons thing, let's not mention stats.]

A good conductor of mana. Long, solid, preferably ancient wood of some kind. Even better would be one that's been soaked in mana for a long time. Orichalcum would be good- The only metal that's good, honestly- But if you had enough of that to make a staff, it would be way smarter to just melt it down and sell it for a ridiculous amount of money.

[angelherding]

[that doesn't sound too much different from the kinds of magic and rituals she's performed and seen. Though orichalcum does have her looking a bit confused for a moment - wasn't that some Atlantis crap]

I guess they don't have ancient wood just laying around up here, huh. That sounds familiar enough, at least - needing ancient crap to make magic work. [or blood from ancient creatures but she won't say that]

It's not strictly necessary, it's just a better conductor if it's older. I can do magic even without a weapon.

[angelherding]

Some of the spells I'm familiar with call for very specific, ancient junk. It's a whole new adventure trying to track some of it down. Can you do it without the incantations too?

[She cups a hand, and a little green whirlwind appears in it before dissipating.]

Beats me, whoever came up with the rules where I'm from clearly didn't think them out very well. Then again, witches aren't exactly my crowd either - I just know a few things.
