if you bed it, he will come

Who: Sascha & ANYONE
Broadcast: N/A
Action: Everywhere beds lie
When: June

[ Sascha has Learned His Lesson.

One doesn't simply hop into someone's bed while their sleeping and/or naked, because the results in getting kicked in the face. And yelled at a whole lot. No...what one should do is knock first!

...And then hop into their bed while they're asleep.

Lesson. Totally. Learned.

But really let's face it, this guy is an idiot and he most certainly is going to meander around over the course of the month and find those nice, comfy warm beds of yours, Fleeters. SO TRY NOT TO SMACK HIM TOO HARD, he could become even more dumb if you do.

At least he does this with the best intentions right? ]

[ ooc; THIS IS FOR EVERYONE WHO WANTED SASCHA IN THEIR BEDS. Or anyone who wants him in their bed now. They can be awake, asleep, asleep not exactly in their room--anything! Tag in and he will be there. ]

Yeah, exactly. With video games, it's more like... you get to direct what happens in the movie you watch. You play through the story, controlling the main character. It's meant to be more interactive.
huaaaaagh: (well okay maybe food too)

[personal profile] huaaaaagh 2016-06-07 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Sometimes. It really depends on the game. A lot of them just let you guide the character through the story. Some games don't have story at all, you just play them.

It's probably easier to show you, hang on.

[Gonna fiddle with the comm... he's pretty sure he saw a few crappy retro games on there.]
huaaaaagh: <user name=fontech> (but we all know how that would go)

[what a terrible influence he is

Flappy Marsiva is the first one that pops up on the list, so Kirito loads that one up and tilts it so Sascha can see.]

Okay, this is a video game. It's not a very good one, but you can get the gist of it. If this was a movie, you'd just watch it, yeah? But instead, you have to interact. By tapping the screen-

[Look, look how it bounces around the obstacles!

Look how it crashes horribly because this game is terrible!]

[Introducing someone new to video games is one of life's greatest delights.]

Yeah, it did. It'll do that every time the screen gets tapped. Want to try?
huaaaaagh: (fine then. let's do it!)

[personal profile] huaaaaagh 2016-06-09 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
[unless your children live in the video games, and then you can multitask.]

Yeah, exactly. Go for it.

[He offers the comm out. Go on, buddy, get addicted.]

[don't give him any ideas.]

Try hitting it just before you want it to jump. There's a bit of an input lag. It takes some time to figure out the timing, believe me.
huaaaaagh: <user name=fontech> (it just means i love the food)

[personal profile] huaaaaagh 2016-06-11 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
It's basically the difference in time between when you touch the screen and when the game reacts. Almost all games have it, and minimizing the lag is an important part of development.

[You want boring dev talk while you play, right?]
huaaaaagh: <user name=fontech> (yessss crisis averted.)

It mostly has to do with optimizing the code to match the machinery it's running on, since that varies a lot from player to player. You can create a series of customization options and make it available to the player, so they can decide the max framerate, graphical settings, controller input, and--
huaaaaagh: (wow made me look i guess)

[personal profile] huaaaaagh 2016-06-13 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
[wait Sascha didn't even know what video games were five minutes ago.

....

HE'S NOT GOOD AT THIS]

Uh... basically you let the player decide how the game works.
huaaaaagh: (well okay maybe food too)

[personal profile] huaaaaagh 2016-06-14 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
That's... a nice way to put it, yeah.

[More like he's a giant obsessive nerd, but sure, let's go with that.]

I grew up with video games, so it's definitely a long-term passion of mine. One of the hardest parts about being stuck here is the limited entertainment, to be honest.
huaaaaagh: <user name=fontech> (we're halfway there already)

[personal profile] huaaaaagh 2016-06-14 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, exactly. I've never been good at the usual social-hangout sort of thing... I spent a lot of time playing games with people or just by myself, instead.

[He leans back against his pillow, relaxing since Sascha's got his comm and he therefore he has nothing to do with his hands.]
huaaaaagh: (I guess I'm a bit obsessed)

[personal profile] huaaaaagh 2016-06-14 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, we're hanging out. Playing video games.

[This is what he's good at, buddy.]

[personal profile] huaaaaagh 2016-06-16 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
[With nothing to keep him occupied he is not long for this world. Look, he's already yawning.]

No kidding. Honestly, I'm pretty good at games, and even I have trouble with that one. It's not very well designed, but somehow it's really addictive.
