[While Pinkie has Poe distract Finn for most of the day, this little party pony's hard at work making this the best (and only) birthday this ex-Storm Trooper's ever had! As advertised, the whole ship is decorated bow to stern with streamers and lights and balloons. There's music throughout all the speakers, dancing and games on the bridge, and SO MANY TREATS in the kitchen. There's mild and spicy nachos, salsa, cubes of spiky blue fruit that tastes like cantaloupe, candy, and HUGE birthday cake made from as many real ingredients as Pinkie could get her hooves on. There's also a HUGE punch bowl with Pinkie's best punch recipe, and pre-poured cups of what looks like some blue fizzy milkshake. Knock yourselves out, guys, and help Finn have the best birthday ever since the First Order is made of jerks!]

Well, that's okay! I can teach you fishing, and you can teach me some fighting. I'm already trying to learn to control my powers, but some fighting would be handy if I get into trouble again.

Yeah, basic defense isn't too hard, you just gotta practice so it's habit.

[He cocks his head to one side.]

Right. Not like I got anything else to do, so that'll be easy.

[Seriously, he had no idea being kidnapped into space could make someone bored, but here we are.]

[Finn agrees; it takes up a good part of his day, but it keeps him busy at least.]

Well, I bet you can. What are you doing to train? Ahsoka says meditation helps you get in touch with the Force. Maybe that would help you, too?

Mostly I just practice concentrating on it. And uh, counting to ten with deep breaths when I get freaked out.

Yeah, it's what the Jedi use to--[he gestures vaguely]--to use their powers. Like they can see what people are feeling and throw stuff through the air and they say some of them can make lightning out of nothing, but I've never seen that. They say it's an energy that flows through the universe, binding everything together, and if you can get in touch with it, you can tap into your own real potential.

So I bet even if what you have isn't the same as the Force, it would work the same way.

Wow. Only Electric-types can make lightning where I'm from.

But yeah...maybe it would help! Can you use the Force?

Maybe that's why I only ever heard of it? I don't know if there's different types of Jedi, though.

[Finn laughs.]

Naw. I mean, I do the meditation cause she asked me to, but I'm just a normal soldier.

[He shrugs] Couldn't tell ya if Jedi do. But in my world, people with powers can use one or two types of powers. Sometimes three, but that's really rare. And there's eighteen types in all.

[What do you know he at least paid some attention in school]

Heh heh, you sure? If she's asking you, maybe she sees some potential in ya.

Eighteen? So you got air? Right--you said if you fell, you could land safe, I remember. Part of the same thing?

[He shakes his head. Of course he's sure. He's nobody. No--he was nobody. Now he's Finn.]

She probably thinks that, but. Doesn't mean it's true.

[He nods] Yeah, that's right. I'm psychic and flying- or air. Same thing.

[Sora meanwhile, isn't sure he believes that. But it's not really for him to say]

Well, if you say so. But powers or not, I think you're pretty special.

Psychic is like--feeling what other people think? I know Jedi can do that.

I, uh. [Finn smiles ruefully.] Thanks, Sora.

[Sora smiles at him] Don't think anything of it! We're friends!

And, well, it's not so much their thoughts - but feelings? I can usually tell if someone's up to no good.

Yeah. Yeah, we are. [Doesn't mean he appreciates it any less.]

Oh, like picking out someone in a crowd who's gonna cause trouble? I can do that, but it's from training and observation. [...that he was always mysteriously top in his training classes for.] Or, like--can you tell when someone looks like they're okay, but they're really sad and they just don't want people to tell?

Nah, I'm not good enough yet to pick up other emotions. Just maliciousness. Like... [How to explain it] Like if someone really charming starts talking to you, and they're good enough a liar to seem like they're okay? I can tell if they wanna hurt you.

[did you mean: every CO he's ever had? Either way Finn nods.]

I bet you could practice till you get really good at it. Think about how useful it would be in some of those board games if you could tell when your opponent's going to attack.
