[While Pinkie has Poe distract Finn for most of the day, this little party pony's hard at work making this the best (and only) birthday this ex-Storm Trooper's ever had! As advertised, the whole ship is decorated bow to stern with streamers and lights and balloons. There's music throughout all the speakers, dancing and games on the bridge, and SO MANY TREATS in the kitchen. There's mild and spicy nachos, salsa, cubes of spiky blue fruit that tastes like cantaloupe, candy, and HUGE birthday cake made from as many real ingredients as Pinkie could get her hooves on. There's also a HUGE punch bowl with Pinkie's best punch recipe, and pre-poured cups of what looks like some blue fizzy milkshake. Knock yourselves out, guys, and help Finn have the best birthday ever since the First Order is made of jerks!]

[Oddly, he doesn't even think to ask for her as a birthday present. First, because Atroma would use it to mess with him somehow, and second--as much as he misses Rey, the confidence isn't faked. He knows that even though she's as far away as it's possible to get, she's okay. That's far more important than having her here with him.]

I'd say she'd like you, but I think most people like you anyway.

I believe that's open to debate. I've certainly run into my fair share of enemies.

[Finn flashes a grin.]

Most people I talk to, then. I bet if they didn't, it'd be a good sign to keep my distance.

[ Obi-Wan chuckles. ]

As far as rumours go, I suppose those are rather tame. No one really calls me anything other than Obi-Wan here. Titles are reserved for our galaxy alone.

[Not true, Finn still calls him General Kenobi everywhere except to his face. Old habits die hard, and he's something of a legend.]

Good. Cause I only got the one title, and I'd rather go by "Caprine Security Officer".

[It has a much better ring to it than "traitor".]

Is that your official title now?

According to Atroma, yeah.

But do you like it?

I think so? It's not a hard job.

[He shrugs.]

It's a hell of a lot better than my old job title.

[ He nods. There's something tragic about the Storm Troopers, something the Clones didn't quite suffer. He wished Cody was here. He would have known what to say. ]

You didn't have a choice.

[He closes his eyes, having a brief flashback to being one nameless trooper in formation.]

There's always a choice. That's why I'm not there anymore.

[ He wonders how the Clones see it. He's never doubted Rex or Cody or any of the others.

Still. ]

I'm afraid I am partially guilty of that.

[Finn breaks out of his flashback and shakes his head.]

I don't think so. No matter what you did back in your time, it was the people who decided to continue it in mine that are to blame.

Even so, the Republic and the Jedi had a hand in it. I was even the one who found the clones on Kamino to begin with.

[ Setting off a chain of events that they could not fully entangle. ] It seems the galaxy is still reaping the sins of the past.

The Empire had a lot more of a hand in it. [Really, the clone troopers had only been the beginning. It could have gone in any way from there. That it had gone the way it did isn't the Jedi's fault at all.]

At least you fought it, once you knew what was going on.

[ He shakes his head. ]

Not yet, at least. I'm from far earlier in the timeline.

[He really is going to have to make a reference some day.]

Well, point is, it's not any one thing that made it turn out the way it did for anyone. And I know you stand up for what you believe in, no matter when it is.

[ His lips twitch, despite himself. ]

That's a lot of faith for a man you've just met a few months ago.

[He ducks his head, though he's smiling.]

Maybe I've had good luck with trusting people so far.

That luck will pay off, I'm sure.

[ He claps his shoulder. ] Enjoy your party, Finn. You deserve it.
