[While Pinkie has Poe distract Finn for most of the day, this little party pony's hard at work making this the best (and only) birthday this ex-Storm Trooper's ever had! As advertised, the whole ship is decorated bow to stern with streamers and lights and balloons. There's music throughout all the speakers, dancing and games on the bridge, and SO MANY TREATS in the kitchen. There's mild and spicy nachos, salsa, cubes of spiky blue fruit that tastes like cantaloupe, candy, and HUGE birthday cake made from as many real ingredients as Pinkie could get her hooves on. There's also a HUGE punch bowl with Pinkie's best punch recipe, and pre-poured cups of what looks like some blue fizzy milkshake. Knock yourselves out, guys, and help Finn have the best birthday ever since the First Order is made of jerks!]

[ She could ask why he's never had a party before, but it could be several things. Maybe it's not tradition where he's from. Or maybe it's something sadder. In any case, she dismisses the line of thought. ]

I'd say this is a wonderful first birthday party.

Thanks. My friend Pinkie Pie--she's our engineer here on the Caprine--is a party planner back home. That's her whole job. So when she heard I haven't had one before....

She sounded really excited. I'm sure you can tell that we don't have many parties here.

Yeah. Which is kinda too bad. I had fun at the masquerade thing--did you go to that?

I did. I don't have a chance to go to parties just for the sake of it back home, so it's nice to be able to do so here.

I know exactly what you mean. Where's home, for you?

I'm from Naboo, but I spend most of my time on Coruscant now.

Really? [His face lights up; he hadn't been aware there were others from home here.] What's Coruscant like? I only ever heard about it.

[ She smiles brightly in return. ]

The entire planet is a city, transparasteel and permacrete everywhere. Still, it's beautiful. The buildings sparkle during the day, and the city is a warm, multicolor glow at night.

[ With humor: ] The traffic is awful, though.

And all those people doing their own things. Does it get confusing? Or are you used to it?

[Because there had been a lot of people on the larger bases of the First Order, but they'd all been strictly regimented.]

It's overwhelming at first, but you get used to it. You learn to block out distractions.

[Makes sense to him.]

It's not too quiet here for you, is it?

It's taken a little time to adapt. My life is usually much more hectic.

[ She sounds a little wistful, in fact. ]

[It's totally too quiet for her here.]

Well, you get bored, you can always come over here and visit. I guarantee you Pinkie knows how to make anything interesting. Or I could tell you about some of the Unknown Regions, if you're ever curious about the middle of nowhere.

[ She laughs. ] I can see that. Pinkie Pie clearly knows how to have fun.

I would love to learn about the Unknown Regions. Did you grow up near there?

It's her job back home. Professional party planner.

[He nods.] Grew up there, yeah. And it's where the Resistance base is, so that's the last place I was before I showed up here, too.

The Resistance? Is that part of the Rebellion?

[Finn holds out his hand and waves it in a "sort of" gesture.]

Call it a spiritual successor. The Rebellion straight up became the New Republic, but later on when there was a new threat, the Repbulic's hands were tied politically. So the Resistance was made by people who wanted to do something about it. Lot of the same people - General Organa, Admiral Ackbar. And one of Poe's squad was actually at the Battle of Endor where they destroyed the Emperor.

[ Padmé's expression becomes distant, almost sad, like she's looking down a long, tragic road. War goes on and on, her children fight over and over.

Her children...

Tentatively: ] And Luke?

[...This is why he doesn't bring things up. Oops?]

We were looking for him when I showed up here instead. He was searching for the first Jedi temple, I think. [Finn shrugs.] Or at least that's where Han thought he went.

[ She frowns. ]

He didn't even tell Leia?

[ She doesn't realize that she may be talking too familiarly about people in an organization she hadn't been aware of. ]

[The question surprises him, but Finn shakes his head.]

Nope. She's the one that sent Poe to look for him, and then I got caught up in it from there.
