[The cargo bay of the Blue Fish finds itself a bit less empty than usual. The video opens up on gift baskets covering sections of the floor in the bay. Each one has a little tag attached to it, indicating the intended recipient(s) of the basket. The wrapping on top of each basket are a solid color, hiding what’s inside.

The camera jostles as its owner kneels down next to one.]

Not quite what I expected to come down to this morning.

[Riona remains off-screen, save for her hand, which opens up the tag. Her name is written on it, with a little note reading: “To help you unwind.”]

So. Atroma – I’m assuming – has left some of us with gifts. Given the sheer number in here, and that I don’t recognize the names on some of the baskets down here, it appears these are also for people on other ships. I’m on the Blue Fish, if anyone wants to stop by and see if they received one of these baskets.

[ She sets the camera down, propping it up. The new view provides the chance to see Riona tearing into the paper covering her basket.]

I don’t know what is inside, to be honest. I’m not exactly sure what they mean by helping me “unwind”. Let’s find out, shall we?

[ As she reaches in and begins to pull out something, suddenly there’s a vibration ringing out from inside. The young Warden frowns, the book she had grabbed onto halfway out of the basket.]

Not sure if I want to know what that sound is. Let’s see what this book-

[If one has a watchful eye, they may catch a quick glimpse of the book cover***. At least until Riona gets a good look at it, blushes and sputters, and immediately slams it to the ground.]

Maker’s ball, why would they-

[There’s a curse as she remembers the camera is on and her hand quickly covers the lens before the communicator is shut off.]

((OOC: sponsor drop is open to all! Yhe theme is sex toys, books, etc. the gift baskets can be for individuals or for couples. The Blue Fish no longer has the locks on, so characters can wander freely inside again.

[Yes. Yes they are going to talk about this. Beverly has no shame. She raises an eyebrow and tilts her head towards the box with the buzzing sound coming out of it.]

Well then, you might want to turn the vibrator off.

[A vibrator. Well, it IS vibrating so she'll buy it.]

[After a moment of rummaging through the bag, she pulls out the offending thing.]

What in - how do you -

[WHY DOES IT KEEP VIBRATING HOW DO YOU TURN IT OFF???

In true pre-technological era fashion, when she can't figure out how to get it to stop, she whacks it against the ground a few times.]

[Beverly winces when Riona starts hitting the vibrator, which to its credit, refuses to turn off. Sturdy little thing. She holds out a hand.]

Riona! No - here, I'll turn it off!

[Riona hands it over, still glowering at the thing.]

[dancingmd]

[It takes a moment of study, but Beverly soon finds the operating switch and turns the device off.]

The switch is here... [She points it out to Riona.] and it looks like it was on the highest setting, which is why it was making so much noise. If you change your mind and decide you want to give it a try after all, I would suggest starting at a lower setting to begin with, until you're used to the sensation.

[So matter-of-fact. She holds the vibrator out for Riona to take back.]

[Riona still hasn't taken it from her, so she gently sets the vibrator back in its basket.]

I admit it probably sounds...odd, but I promise, it's not dangerous or harmful. And you by no means are obligated to use it, I just want you to know you can come to me with any questions and know that I'm certainly not going to be judging for whatever you decide to do.

[Honestly, she's not sure what's worse: the thought that someone invented this and believed it was a good idea, or that she's actually curious enough to try.]

[It really was meant affectionately. Plus, better to find the humor in this than to get angry about it.]

[She huffs out the laugh. The apology helps bring her out of her state of shock a bit.]

It's all right. Your teasing is rather tame compared to what I'm used to. But I am not familiar with things like this [She gestures to the vibrator.] and it caught me off guard. Maker, it's felt like ages since I was that flustered about... things regarding intimacy.

Oh, we all get embarrassed about it sometimes. And it's hard too, when you have so many people from different times and places, with different ideas about sexuality. You don't always know what to expect.

Exactly. It seems to be something that is more... openly discussed around here. [Zevran would be pleased.]

It's encouraged in my society, to be open about sexual matters, so I may not be entirely representative of the fleet as a whole.

[She grins.]

I rather shocked poor Sokka and Allen with some of my choices in reading materials once.

In Ferelden, it's more hush-hush. In the circles I grew up in, it was especially so.

I have a friend who grew up in another kingdom. When he came to Ferelden, he found it rather humorous - if not a little sad - how much we avoid the subject. [A laugh.] A lot of what I do know has come from him, for better or wose.

[Her smile turns mischievous.]

Was it perhaps a novel of some sort? A naughty one, I'd assume.

It's good to have such a friend.

[Then she laughs.]

Oh but of course! It really was a very mild sort of thing though.

[Hands on her hips.]

Sokka was very insistent that I was too old for it.

It is. I only hope I've been as good a friend to him, in my own way.

[She raised her brow.]

Too old? What, once a woman reaches a certain age, she is to be a withered old crone with no desire or romantic ideas?

I think it had more to do with me being a mom. Which, as I pointed out, Wesley did not just appear out of thin air.

[But she's grinning. She's clearly more amused than insulted.]
