[Have a red headed bard on your feed, flooters. Anyone who knows her well enough might take note of the absolutely look of fury lurking in her features. Someone decided to send her a 'nice' gift via their lovely sponsors. In her lap rests a box, open and well within view of the video feed. In the box looks to be some pink fabric and a note, gripped tightly in her hand.]

It is a pity our sponsors cannot interact with us here on the network, for I find myself quite moved to have several words with them about adhering to hearsay and rumors.

[She laughs but it has none of the usual joy behind it. If anything it sounds akin to a witch or a demon's laugh. It's a good thing she has the rest of the Blue Fish to keep her spirits up or she'd probably be on quite the rampage.]

It has also reached my attention that somewhat celebration - or perhaps a few stiff drinks - are in order. I have been present in the fleet for a year now. I wonder what others do to mark the occasion. Perhaps getting heavily inebriated isn't such a stretch, no?

[She may not do much of that, if at all, but damned if her black mood didn't call for it.]

To mark the occasion, our sponsors gifted me with a strange one piece outfit. It looks somewhat like Schmooples, I suppose, but I can't be sure.

[As for the note - anyone who comes in person to see it can find out what it says. They'll find probing questions asking her to confirm if she secretly eats nug meat or if her hair is actually red or - even worse - if she ws secretly involved with Divine Justinia during their time together. To them it was quite the sordid romance. To her it was disgusting and was the source of her dangerous mood.]

[Leliana decided to make this with a purpose and an idea in mind. When the feed turns on, she can be found wearing some light armor and gloves, holding a bow in her hands.]

It has come to my attention that perhaps my expertise with a bow and other weapons might be useful, should the need to defend ourselves ever arise again. I reside aboard the Blue Fish as one of her security officers and I believe, by extension, it is my duty to not only defend the ship, but to make sure her inhabitants and those of other ships can defend themselves properly.

Should anyone with inexperience with knives or bows wish it, I am willing to lend my services. I extend this particularly to the women aboard the fleet, purely because it has come to my attention there are some who do not find base means of defense accessible to them.

[Lookin' at you, Robb Stark.]

I do have some experience with a sword and shield, but I find myself willing to leave that in Riona Cousland's expert hands and I am sure she would be more than happy to lend tutelage in that realm of expertise should anyone ask her of it directly.

[She clears her throat a bit.]

There is a small matter of where I might find a suitable place to teach, but I will come to that when a decent interest is shown. Thank you, for your time, and I do hope others who feel eager to learn will come forward soon.

[The First Battle]

[They come shooting out of the great dark. Guns blazing, no warning. The enemy ships are ragtag, mismatched, and cobbled together from spare parts. But that doesn’t make them weak. No-- years and years of scavenging have turned them into raiders, and they carry their scars with pride.

The battle is more aggressive than previous attacks against the Fleet. Nothing deters the raiders because they’re tough, and if they see a wounded ship floundering, they have no problems swooping in and boarding. Those crews will soon learn the meaning of teamwork if they want to bring the attackers down. They infiltrate the Iskaulit as well, just in case people try to hide there. At this point they are very, very used to tracking down women and children for their slave trade.

If asked why they’re doing this, the answer is simple.

Spare parts have to come from somewhere.

Don’t worry. Nothing on your ship, and no one, will go to waste.]

[A Few Hours Later]

[The raiders are too strong and the Fleet is failing. After what seems like an eternity of warfare, static comes in, broadcasted to the fleet at large. Something or someone is hailing them…

The signal is untraceable and the video is complete static, but they tell the Fleet they are here to help. Ships come swooping out of the black and they open fire on the raiders. They number a dozen, maybe more, and the ships look eerily similar to the ones currently used by the Fleet, if not a bit older and battle-hardened. Their shielding and weaponry is much, much better, however-- and most of them have custom paint or other touches on their hulls.

They’re not invincible, however. A few may end up between a rock and a hard place when the raiders surround them.

Some older residents may remember this particular group of ships. They’re obviously helping out now, but there’s nothing stopping Fleeters from firing on their would-be saviors save a complete lack of weaponry. You do have a Security officer on board, don’t you? They’ll defend themselves by seriously injuring your ship, but they won’t destroy it for some reason. Small mercies.

The raiders soon realize they’re outgunned and jump ship, taking their dead with them. The intercepting fleet pulls back, too, and both parties vanish back into the dark as silently and swiftly as they came. There’s a lot of cleanup to do whether your ship is disabled or you’re preparing to tow someone else.

Hopefully, the people who saved you don’t change their minds.]

It seems time passed much more quickly while I was asleep. It felt as if I had returned home again and time had passed there as it normally does here. Two years passed there while it feels as if no time has passed here at all.

There were some familiar figures to those of Thedosian variety - The Queen might just look like Andraste, for example.

When Leliana appears to the network, she is holding one of her crudely made pieces between her fingers.

Hello all of you wonderful people, spirits, and creatures of otherworldly origins.

[ Something has put Marian Hawke into an incredibly good mood, why she is practically beaming when she turns on the feed. It almost looks like she just gotten out of bed, deciding the next best course of action is to raid the fridge of what could possibly be her own ship. Which, incidentally, it is not.

For those aboard the Tourist when you enter the kitchen you'll be greeted by Hawke sitting upon one of benches, dressed in nothing more than a somewhat ill fitting tunic ( Fenris isn't that much larger than her, damn scrawny elf ) and her small clothes. That's right, she has forgone pants entirely. Thankfully, or rather unfortunately, the video only shows her upper body, messy dark hair, and Cheshire cat grin. ]

For those who don't know me, my name is Hawke. Marian Hawke, to be precise, but please call me Hawke. It's absolutely lovely to meet you, if I haven't already.

[ She gives a little wave. ]

I was wondering how are we all doing? Hopefully no one has been eaten by any carnivorous plants, or lost their clothes in an card game. [ Yes, she is very concerned about people getting eaten by plants or losing clothes in a card game. The former is unfortunate, the later... well she'd be more upset she wasn't invited. ] I hear getting eaten by a planet can be worse than being chewed on by a bear or a dragon.

Anyway lets chat, I'm incredibly curious what has been going on around the fleet.

[Aboard the Blue Fish, Leliana seems to have found herself a nice space in the kitchen with a bowl of food, a pen, and some paper in front of her as she scribbles here and there, giving pause only to address the network.]

I am curious - I've seen others on the network speak of their own history and stories from their homes, but I can't imagine many tales of Thedas's history are floating about, no? Not unless Riona or Varric spoke of them. I have a few favorites if any would like to hear them. Telling stories is a way to pass the time while feeding curiosity and knowledge.

[Leliana smiles, twirling her pen in between her fingers as Schmooples' ears make a cameo from her lap as he tries to play with the broach holding her cowl about her shoulders.]

I have heard tales of valor and tragedy and some have a bit of both. Those are often my favorite stories, truthfully. One of them is about a brilliant woman called Aveline!

Story time from the bard )

[Leliana's eyes alight, she sets her pen down and waits a moment before speaking again - a story like that deserved a dramatic pause, after all.]

In Orlais, legends like that give way to song and even more dramatic tellings. Just thinking about it has me writing again. I haven't done much singing of late, myself. If anyone knows where I might find a proper lute I'd love to get my hands on one sometime. I've got a song I'm working on and it needs music to accompany it, no? That all aside - I haven't introduced myself on the network in a time or two. Should anyone wish to seek me out: I am called Sister Leliana and often times you can find me aboard the Blue Fish or in the Interfaith Center.

I apologize. It seems I mayhap have fallen victim to a long slumber. I don't recall the ships leaving the planet we were last on, but I am to understand some time has passed.

I will be resuming my duties in the Interfaith Center – Stefan, I apologize sincerely for my absence. I hope it has not caused an inconvenience.

[Leliana can be found either aboard the Blue Fish or in the Interfaith Center praying silently before her own hand made totem statue of Andraste. The nap seemed to have done her at least a little good. Still she felt the lingering grief of home and the troubles it faced but she was slowly becoming more at peace in her new life. Perhaps she could finally lay down her burdens? She wasn't so sure yet. For now she moved on to the next stage of things – normalcy.

Aboard the Blue Fish Leliana makes her security rounds, stopping to take a break to make some tea and enjoy some quiet in the kitchens. The camera jostles as its owner kneels down next to one.]

Not quite what I expected to come down to this morning.

[Riona remains off-screen, save for her hand, which opens up the tag. Her name is written on it, with a little note reading: “To help you unwind.”]

So. Atroma – I’m assuming – has left some of us with gifts. Given the sheer number in here, and that I don’t recognize the names on some of the baskets down here, it appears these are also for people on other ships. I’m on the Blue Fish, if anyone wants to stop by and see if they received one of these baskets.

[ She sets the camera down, propping it up. The new view provides the chance to see Riona tearing into the paper covering her basket.]

I don’t know what is inside, to be honest. I’m not exactly sure what they mean by helping me “unwind”. Let’s find out, shall we?

[ As she reaches in and begins to pull out something, suddenly there’s a vibration ringing out from inside. The young Warden frowns, the book she had grabbed onto halfway out of the basket.]

Not sure if I want to know what that sound is. Let’s see what this book-

[If one has a watchful eye, they may catch a quick glimpse of the book cover***. At least until Riona gets a good look at it, blushes and sputters, and immediately slams it to the ground.]

She was more receptive about addressing the network as a whole, now that she's settled in a bit. It had been at least a month since her arrival.]

I am Sister Nightingale, for those who do not know me. Where I am from, I am a Sister of the Chantry, an organization that houses those who worship the Maker. It faces an empty chair at a table in what some may recognize as Varric’s bar. But the seat is shortly filled by Riona, who leans on her elbows and smiles lopsidedly at the camera.

Yep, someone’s drunk and has made the poor decision to make a public broadcast.]

I think I’ve reached the point where bad decisions start looking like good ones. Or maybe it’s more that I’m past the point of caring, though I’m sure I’ll be thoroughly kicking myself in the morning as I fight off the egregious hangover I’m sure to have.

[Consider that your only warning, Blue Fish.]

What a lovely party that was the other night. The sort of event that’s supposed to let you forget about your troubles and be merry for awhile. And maybe, just maybe, let you believe for a little while that you’re not a terrible person.

[Her smiles turns a shade derisive as she takes a drink from whatever concoction she has in that tankard.]

Or is that just me? It probably is. Which I suppose leads to the point of this little broadcast. [She throws her arms out, almost knocking her drink over in the process.] Surprise! I’m a shitty person. Selfish and terrible. Oh sure, I start out with good intentions, I mean well, but ultimately I end up making shitty decisions because of them. I push and I shove and then people get hurt and I tell myself I did it because it was for the best. I “make up for it” and try to ease things and I say that over and over again in my head when I go to sleep.

[She snorts, leaning on her arms on the table again as she looks away.]

Keep that in mind next time you deal with me. You’ll all be better off.

Should any of you still feel inclined to talk to me, I’ll be here in Varric’s fine establishment, trying to drown my problems for likely the rest of the night. Feel free to come in and have a drink on my selfish ass. I probably owe all of you at least one, if not more.

[Before she picks up her drink, she mutters:] Oh Oghren, you’d be so proud. [And as she takes another long gulp, she shuts off the camera.]

Action

[The Queen of the Self-Loathing Party can be found, as said, at Varric’s bar. She’s got her own table and she’s already knocked back Maker-knows how many drinks. Oddly enough, her sword is in tow, though it’s currently propped up against the table leg. Perhaps at some point, she meant to spar and beat out her feelings. Clearly, either that didn’t work or she didn’t bother and wound up here instead.

She’s definitely pretty damn drunk. If the broadcast didn’t make that clear, then the way she at points will burst out laughing for no reason might hint at it. Or maybe how she’s half slumped over the table, trying to play games on her communicator and cursing loudly as she fails at it (which is pretty much the case for every attempt).

If she sees someone she recognizes, she’ll raise her glass and sloppily beckon them to come over.]

Come, have a drink! It’s no fun doing it alone!
