[things are maybe starting to get a little weird around the fleet... and this sudden message broadcast over the network is no exception.]

something is going on with the augments. crackling noise? potential malfunction not sure what's being effected right now but it's really annoying unknown if harmful but causing problems with behaviora

[the text just stops there. the video turns on!]

Ugh.

[there's a really scary-looking guy in a full face of skull makeup looking down at the controls--oh, wait, no. he's gone. the video turns off. the voice clicks on.]

[the voice clicks off. the text resumes.]

compulsions may be becoming a problem. pretend that didn't happen. or not. i don't know.

[ She hesitates, then adds: ]

[ It looks like the surprises just keep coming with Zhas and this compulsion problem of his. That is an extremely uncharacteristic thing for him to say and it's obvious she wasn't expecting anything close to that. She clears her throat a little anxiously and tried to suppress the sudden heat she can feel rising in her cheeks. ]

You don't have to say it if you don't mean it. There is no obligation.

That's not true! I think you want people to think so— maybe even you want to think so. But I don't think you're empty, Zhas. I think it's hard for you to not be.

I just... didn't think you'd feel that way about women, much less about a woman like me. It's rather... gallant of you.

[ Or maybe she just didn't want to think he really meant that, because it's much less mind-blowing that way. Regardless, she gives him a wry smile. ]

It's not as though I'm a dainty princess, after all. I mostly just have that infuriating habit of annoying you, that sometimes you like to get into physical fights with.

[ It's not quite an "I miss you" that's on the tip of her tongue, but it might seem like it is. It's probably more akin to an "I want us to get along like this all the time". And also... ]

...I'm sorry. I won't say I didn't mean the things I said, but I do regret how I said them. It was impulsive of me and I was already rather upset. I've lost two people here who mean a great deal to me. One right after the other, they've been brought here and then they disappeared.

[ Indeed, the only reason Cecil actually believes he's being sincere is because under normal circumstances, she feels pretty certain he would just grunt or make some other rumble of dismissal. The fact that he's said so much at all is significant and it means a lot to her. ]
