I will holding training sessions for those who want to learn to defend themselves or fight, and those that want sparring practice or to learn new forms of combat. This is limited to hand to hand and melee weapon use due to our surroundings.

Training will be held daily between 9am and 5pm, located at the gym on the Iskaulit although for those who are more confident in their abilities it can be moved to the obstacle course. First come first serve for those wanting tuition.

Wear appropriate clothing and bring whatever liquids or food you require for the session.


[True to her word Mystique is found at the Iskaulit gym throughout the week, and when she is not training with someone she is doing her own practice during her hours there.]

[Mystique couldn't help a look in his direction at that comment and his follow up reaction, but for his sake acted like it never happened, although tempted to say something. Maybe at a later point.] Yes, that sounds about right for Wolverine. [Not bothering to hide her reaction this time, rolling her eyes.]

[bless you Mystique, Hank is not ready for that particular conversation.

He rolls his eyes as well, though there is a bit of fondness in his voice. He liked Logan, for all that their first meeting went a little crazy. It'd be a lie if he said he didn't miss him, either] I'm so glad that that's a common affliction across the timelines. [fond, but deadpanned]

Some things at least, [There were certainly other elements that weren't...] As bad or good as that may be.

I honestly only really ran across Wolverine as a member of the X-Men, and considering I was working for Erik at the time we were hardly on friendly terms.

Logan was apart of the X-Men. Just . . . not our X-Men, as complicated as that sounds. [he glances at her with a bit of a wry, amused expression] He came from our future to warn us about something.

Our X-Men . . . what's left of it, it's just Charles and I.

[There was a pause from her side as she took in that information, processing it, and storing it away.] I see. [Her voice maybe a little too neutral to be safe, but it vanished an instant later.] Well that certainly wouldn't had made it into my top ten ways of expecting Wolverine to show up somewhere. Or anyone, I suppose.

Mm, it's certainly the strangest way I've met someone. We didn't believe him at first, either - not until he started saying things he couldn't have known. [mostly, details about Charles' life that not even Hank knew]

You mean basic manners? [Ha ha, yes, funny, moving on.

Eyeing up his form and changes between his movement from entering the room and now, Mystique started to slow her pace, a hand coming up to touch his arm to slow Hank's stride along with hers.] I assume everything worked out and his goal from the future was achieved. [It wasn't that big of a stretch for her to accept. Hell, she had spent years working with a woman who could see possible futures, this was just in reverse.]

I don't think he knows what those are. [don't worry he can shit talk Logan and be fond of him all at the same time.

He glances down at her hand and slows himself, and at her question he nods. It's hard to say for sure, they hadn't gotten any sort of signal after the dust had settled, but . . . he had to believe that they'd changed it. The future that had been so bad they'd needed Logan to come back to fix it] More or less. I don't - know how much it changed, since Logan never came back, but - we know it changed some things for us.

Then I guess there is no true way to tell. [Which, if it was done right no one was suppose to know there had been a change, been interfered with. But this was Logan, and Mystique doubted the man could skillfully get his way out of a wet paper bag. Tear it apart, yes, but nothing more than that.

Slowing even more to a walk, Mystique motioned for Hank to follow her to where she had set up some of the sandbags to act as punching bags. She was not stupid, she was not about to test his strength against herself first without knowing what he considered reduced abilities.] Let me see how hard you are able to hit. [Having placed herself on the other side of it to both brace the bag and also to feel the impact through it so she could gauge what she was working with.]

Not really, no. But - like I said, some things are already different. [and he has a feeling Logan would find a way back to tell them it wasn't done, regardless. After everything, he was the one who hadn't given up on Charles, and while he wasn't privy to the conversation, he knew the moment he returned that something had changed. Something important.

He gives the sandbag a long look before he tilts to the side some, eyeing her. He knows what his limits are like this and . . . well] Are you sure you want to stand back there?

[Raising a brow at his question, Mystique moving back and to the side a step before waving a hand from him to the bag.] By all means. [Her exceptions having not thought that would be needed, so even more curious where to see where he landed between her views and his own.]

[like he told her earlier, he's only muted like this; done on purpose, so that while the fur and skin were still suppressed, he still had some use of his powers. Was it down out of a slight paranoia and distrust of this place? Hell yes.

He won't be catching or tossing cars like this, sure, but he still has some decent strength behind his punch when he concentrates. He hits the bag with all the strength he can muster, the chain holding the bag up rattling dangerously as it sways backwards from the force.

. . . and then he immediately catches it as it swings back with a quiet "oof"]

[Brows raising at that amount of swing he was able to get out of the bag, Mystique even took an extra half step to the side as the bag swung back into place, her own hand going out to steady it once he had caught it.] That's more than I expected. [Willing to admit that much to him.]

I think we would easily be able to translate that into something that will work if you are faced with combat.

[he lets go of the bag and gives it a serious, considering look, then huffs out a noise] That was more than I expected, too. [when he'd made the serum here, he'd adjusted it so it didn't last as long, but he didn't take into account for his powers not being as muted as he first thought.

Old Hank would've immediately made a note to adjust it. But as he is now, he's glad. He's more useful this way]

That's - good, right?

Strength is only good if you know how to apply it. Anyone can throw a punch, just not always well, but you have a brain in there, it's not just brute force. That is where your real strength is.

However, since you are, more or less despite your current situation, an X-Man, I assume anything that involves a fatal strike is off the cards. [You never know! Better to check ahead of time.]

[oh. Oh Mystique. He immediately nods, trying not to make a face at the thought of fatal force] I'd rather not resort to - uh, that if I can avoid it.

[Not surprised at all, Mystique just nodded her head at his answer.] Then we shall avoid it.

I think for you the best thing to learn would be ways to restrain an individual. It would take away the issue of causing major damage to an opponent beyond injuries that can be treated easily enough, and work well with your strength levels. Certain holds, manipulating joints in the body to cause enough discomfort to stop an enemy, pressure points, things like that.

That . . . would work really well, actually. I don't know anything along those lines.

[he knows about pressure points, of course, but that's strictly from the medical side of things]

I think most will be common sense to you, at a starting level, considering your knowledge base as it is. That joints are only suppose to move a certain way, that muscles and tendons have a limited stretching point, it's just about how to apply it.

And to keep in mind that with your strength you will have to be careful not to accidentally tear someone's arm off. [A touch of a smirk as she said that.]

[sometimes Mystique says things that remind him of his Raven, and sometimes she says things that remind him that they're two entirely different people.

Now is one of those reminders]

I - I won't accidentally rip someone's arm off. I know how to control my strength.

I was joking, Hank. I'm sure you will be very cautious so not to cause long term injuries. [Oh calm down, she wasn't serious.]

Let's do a few practical examples. [Moving away from the bag, Mystique motioned for Hank to follow her as she positioned herself facing him.] Move to try and grab me, slowly, so I can show you options you have.

Oh. Er, right. [sometimes, jokes go right over his head. Just listen for the whooshing noise.

But he steps away from the bag as well and at her instruction, slowly reaches forward to try and grab her arm] Like this?

[It spoke a lot about him with how he reached for her, taking on a more passive way to grab at her than something more assertive and aggressive. It was partly why she suggested learning to restrain than full on combat, it wasn't in his nature.] Yes.

[Letting his hand wrap around her arm, Mystique twisted her wrist so her hand was now gripping his and slipping down to put pressure against his thumb joint. She continued to twist, forcing his hand to follow her path until it got far enough that his arm would have to move to prevent her from 'breaking' his thumb, and beyond that so to show if she kept going he would have to kneel to take the pressure off his thumb and wrist joints. It was done slowly so he could see the process and to make sure she didn't actually injured him.]

Speed it up and you can drop someone before they know what happens. Ideal you would follow it up with a strike with your other hand, [She equally slow moving to show she could strike his neck with her other hand, then stepping in and 'striking' at him with her elbow, aimed at his nose this time. This was about teaching, not hurting, giving him an idea of what he could do before she would break down the steps so he could learn them.] But the hold should do enough to prevent them from immediately moving.

[she has all of his attention, and he pays attention to the way she grabs his hand and twists, as well as the way it would effect him were she to move quicker and actually use the hold properly. Strength wasn't a factor in this sort of hold, though it did help, and that was something that appealed to him, especially given his strength would always be a factor]

It seems useful. [he would definitely be practicing this one] I'm assuming you have to get the grip right for it to be completely effective, right?

Yes, though again with your strength I can assume that you could adapt it and it would still work to a degree, however it is always ideal to learn the correct method so you don't get into bad habits from the start. [Releasing his hand and letting him stand straight again, She moved his hand to grip her arm again.]

Under, out, [As she spoke she went through the actions slowly again.] Over, around. Thumb against the thumb joint, push down hard as you can. Worse case you just dislocate their thumb.
