Hey, if it works, it's right. [She liked to be versed in whatever she can get her hands on, because who knew if that's all you were going to have available to you in a pinch. Personally? Shotguns and stilettos were the wear to her heart ~~and lung~~.]

In my homeland, tradition is based around form and the use of only one sword, as is proper. [That's not a particularly respectful italics, though with Makie her scorn is mild enough.]

There's a movement called the Itto-Ryu that holds that it doesn't matter what weapon you use or how you fight, so long as it's one on one.

[She quirks her head at Makie's inflection on that word, proper, and offers a dru chuckle herself.]

There weren't really any rules in my world about fighting. You did what you could so that you'd survive. If you made it through the day ... just means you did something right.

There is no law in your land? No authority to keep order?

[It's the first thing she thinks of, if Furiosa has to spend her days like that. There are certainly those in Makie's own who live in much the same fashion, but no rules in my world speaks of a vaster scale.]

[She gives Makie a dry chuckle.] No, not really. Some people got their hands on the good resources and fought their way into power, you make contracts and partnerships where you can. dominate the masses, but there's no rule. Regime gets overturned, hopefully the people responsible have the strength to make it something better.

You travel outside your little oasis? Bandits, warparties, scavengers ... what 'authority' there was didn't extend far. [Sure, Joe and his brothers at Bullet Farm and Gastown certainly had a little empire growing, but the Rock Rioders didn't recognize that reign.]

So your world is like Kitty's... it has fallen apart.

[The people she knows well operate outside the law, but this... is a whole different level.]

That's one way of putting it. Broken, poisoned, killed would probably work better.

[fallen almost sounded ... tame. Graceful. Her world was anything but. Sharp and ruthless.]

The work of men...?

[She actually doesn't mean that as men suck, but people in general. In many ways, that's far sadder than an act of nature.]

[Furiosa nods.] It all happened before my time. Growing up in the Green Place meant I had some insulation from it, for a bit, but it's everywhere, and it's growing.

That's so sad. Being born into a world already destroyed. You have no say or responsibility. [Forced to live with whatever's left.]

It seems mankind is naturally self-destructive in the future. I can't fathom deliberately taking action that would destroy your own home.

We seem to be in the minority. That moon we just visited? Maybe they'll make it work, but I don't have a lot of faith for my own world.

[Perhaps people lose sight of the smaller things as technology advances. Or perhaps men take their capacity for destruction far beyond the realms of sense.]

I understand. I hope they do make it work.

...I wonder if you could find some kind of technology out here to help with your own world.

[She's silent for a moment, thinking on that, thinking about all they did with cars and guzzoline and how they did - at one point - have a much more advanced society. Before her time, but they dealt with the relics of a dead world.]

If there was, people would probably find a way to use it for their own gains.

Almost certainly. But worth the risk to have that chance.

[It's hard to think about her world recovering, harder still to imagine what people like Immortan Joe would do with such technology.]

Maybe. [She's not convinced.]

[Makie has said her piece, and Furiosa's opinion carries greater weight in any case. She leaves it be, diverting her attention back to the match.]

[Furiosa is hardly an optomist.]
