[When the feed clicks on, Castle has his feet propped up and is reading aloud from a book, although the cover is obscured from view. Also, his Scottish accent is atrocious. Bear with him. He's discovered the cheap vending machine romance novels.]

"Lass, from 500 years intae the future ye may be, but theh be things ye kannae ken." Lord McKraken then doubled over in pain, holding his stomach.

"But I love you!" Elizabeth cried out, rushing over to her Lord's side, holding his sweating form in her arms as he grimaced in agony, running her hands along his feverish pectorals. "I've promised to never leave your side no matter what comes between us."

"Ah beg ye, lass, get thee away before it be too late- AUUUUUUGH!" Elizabeth was forced to back away as McKraken's skin became slimier and slimier. "Ah'm... Ah'm..."

"What is it?"

"Ah be a were-cuttlefish!"

[Castle then has to place the book face-down on the table and lean his head back, laughing.]

Sorry, I just had to share that with someone.

He's always careful never to get to that point. And since his wife's gonna be having a kid soon, my window of opportunity is shrinking.

As well you should. Be sure to have your phone ready to take video and audio evidence to. Can your phones do that?

Yep, definitely. It still astounds me sometimes, since it's not something I grew up with.

It's kind of the opposite for me. Phones have always done that and we have holograms and sub-space communications.

What's it like - living in that era, all those new advancements coming out every year?

It's strange, because it's like... you don't really notice the change as it's happening, but you can look back on it and think, damn, we've come a long way, haven't we? I used to have a record player, for example, and now I carry around my entire record collection and then some on a music player.

Haha, would it surprise you to know I have a record player? The records aren't on those old record materials that could break quite so easily, but I like them. They add that real classic feeling to the classics.

Oh, plenty of people prefer records back home, too. Supposedly they sound better, though I'm not picky either way myself, just as long as I like it.

I think I like the physicality of them. I can store plenty of songs on my phone or other devices back home, sure, but the records let you feel like you're really holding them in your hands, you know?

Yeah, I get that. I'm OK with books on my tablet, but I still own plenty of physical copies, and my fans tend to prefer a book they can hold in their hands, too. Plus, if you just rely on streaming, whoever puts it out has control over what they let you watch. Like how everything changes every month on Netflix.

What's Netflix?

Video streaming service. You pay 8 bucks a month and can watch whatever you want, however long you want. It's... a rather dangerous distraction and time consumer.

Oh. Haha, I think I remember those - the rise of streaming services back in the early 2000s. We have something like that in my time, but I don't use it much. Being out in space makes it kind of hard on the buffering.

Yeah, I bet outer space doesn't get great wifi, huh? I try not to watch too much, because it's one of the best procrastination tools I've ever had. My mom, my fiance and my daughter have all sworn to change the password and lock me out of it if they think it's getting too bad.

Wow, when all three of those people unite to stop you from doing something - that's serious.

My writing is our bread and butter, to be fair. ... well, it's some of it, anyway. And they know my fans eagerly await my next installment, as does my publisher.

People it seems like you shouldn't keep waiting - especially the person who writes your paychecks.

Pretty much. I'm rather... notorious for missing deadlines sometimes. I had a long, vicious case of writer's block once.

Hopefully that won't be the case for awhile when you go back. Plenty of material here, right?

Heck yeah. So many good settings for mysteries- like the poison planet.

Haha. Well, if you get any manuscripts done while you're here, I'd love to read them sometime.

I'll keep that in mind, friend. Editing is a valuable part of the writing process.
