[Wrath's very excited about having so many of her friends around. While she likes showing off the Windrose, she decided the Iskaulit would be a better place. There are plenty of spare rooms not far from the mural where she can set up temporarily, and this way she's not taking up her ship's dining area and making things difficult for her crewmates.

She's got snacks lined up--including more dried bacon kelp--and an array of good drinks. Officer Snuggles, released from his tactical fox vest, is hanging around in the hopes that some ~~sucker~~ kind stranger will feed him under the table.

A deck of cards is waiting, and she managed to find a box of game tokens that should work well during one last trip to the moon. Everything's ready.]

I only know this and solitaire. Never really got around to learning any others.

What of chess? I find a lot of people play it here.

Not yet. Wrath offered to teach me..

[ He kind of wants to let her have that one, though. ]

[ He smiles knowingly. ]

She's very fond of you.

Not sure why, but I'll take what I can get.

[ He doesn't have too many friendships, so the ones he does have here are meaningful. ]

[ He tilts his head. ]

I don't see what's so surprising about it.

Not the easiest person to talk to.

[ He chuckles. ]

I don't know about that. You seem easy enough.

[ He shrugs. ]

It's been better recently.

How so? If you don't mind talking about it.

Adjusting better, I guess. The crew hasn't changed too much, recently.

[ They're not at-capacity or more, so the Heron feels breathable. He's letting himself enjoy the Iskaulit. There are many reasons things have been more than okay.

Steve came back. ]

[ He nods. ]

That always helps. I'm used to crew rotating quite regularly, so having people you know for a longer time makes things feel more stable.

It was hard, for a while. I lost my brother and didn't know what to do.

[ Losing Steve and Natasha was hard, but losing his alternate had been devastating. Thankfully, things are okay, now. Not great, but better. ]

[ Charles glances away, briefly. ]

It's like a hole in you. And you can never quite reconcile your helplessness.

He was the first person here who really knew what to do with me. I know we're the same person, but--

[ He shrugs. ] I dunno. It didn't feel that way.

I met my future self once. He seemed to know exactly what to say and how to say it.

Which is a skill I've yet to master.

We shared a past, but there was a divide. He didn't fall from the train.

He understood. The bad days, the mind fog.. [ It was nice not having to try and come up with the words. ]

I'm glad you had someone who could understand that.

[ He might be a little jealous of it. For him, connection requires something deeper, a complete sharing of the mind. ]

I was too.

I don't think you've lost that ability though. To connect.

I don't know.

We're connecting just fine, aren't we?

I like to think so. We are playing poker together, after all.

[ Erik was more verbose, but he can see glimpses of the man in Winter's demeanor. Back when they were younger, less experienced, tightly coiled around their own issues. ]

I forget how easy normal things are, sometimes.

[ Like the fact that he's allowed to talk to people and form casual friendships. Or having opinions on things. ]
