[Wrath's very excited about having so many of her friends around. While she likes showing off the Windrose, she decided the Iskaulit would be a better place. There are plenty of spare rooms not far from the mural where she can set up temporarily, and this way she's not taking up her ship's dining area and making things difficult for her crewmates.

She's got snacks lined up--including more dried bacon kelp--and an array of good drinks. Officer Snuggles, released from his tactical fox vest, is hanging around in the hopes that some sucker kind stranger will feed him under the table.

A deck of cards is waiting, and she managed to find a box of game tokens that should work well during one last trip to the moon. Everything's ready.]

[Wrath's so excited, she's practically vibrating out of her chair. She dutifully pays in her 2 credit ante so she can have her cards for the round, and looks at them. Well, it seems like a nice hand!

(she has no idea, really. Stats are something that happen to people who can understand numbers.)

Time for the first bet, and she gets to make it! Even more exciting. ]

[She's pretty sure the way this works is she makes certain everyone has something to drink and eat and has been introduced. After that... who knows. But they're all her friends, so she figures if they want something, they'll say so.]

[ Which is such a bizarre aberration, but Charles never complains about food. ]

It's very good for you, Charles. It has lots of vitamins and minerals and tastes way better than rat bars. [Grin.]

Um! But there's also popcorn that I borrowed from Castle and some fruit stuff and protein cake!

I hesitate to ask what a rat bar is.

A ration bar, Charles. Why does everyone always think they're made out of rats or some shit, geeze.

[Absolutely brilliant smile at that, though. And a little bit of a blush. Maybe some of the cooking lessons Christine tried to give her months ago did stick. At least a little.]

[ Poker wasn't one of Charles' vices. Mostly because the moves always seemed transparent. There was little point in analyzing someone's tells when you could see the cards in front of them. Chess was trickier and it involved a lot more steps. Of course, this would be a good training experience for him, being able to limit his telepathy completely.

Curiously, he looks over the cards. ]

[Hello, young Picard. Beverly is very casual in her game play and it's not entirely an affectation - she's used to playing poker as a social event, with no monetary stakes, so while she loves the game, it's nothing she gets too worked up about. Right now, she's much more interested in getting to know Wrath's friends than in the game itself.]

So, Charles, Wrath tells me you want to be a teacher?

[ Charles sets it down as he turns to face her politely. ]

Technically, I already am. I am a licensed professor. I'm hoping to run a school.

Oh! [She smiles brightly.] What's your degree in?

Genetics, though I did a fair amount of minors in other subjects as well.

[grandstanding]

[Erik arrives with Charles, and settles into one of the chairs provided. He has one of the bacon kelp pieces held dubiously in his fingers. He's tried one before, courtesy of Kitty, but it's still... bacon kelp. Neither of which were things he ate normally, much less a combination of both.]

[Beverly takes Erik's dubious expression to mean that this is his first encounter with the bacon kelp, so she nods at the piece he's holding.]

They're not too bad, really.

[When Beverly addresses him, he turns to appraise her. As the only one in the group he hasn't yet met, he's already worked out that she must be the same Dr Crusher that Vision had mentioned to him. The one who wanted the surgical components. He sets the kelp back down on the plate.]

Yes, I've had some. It's still an odd concept.

Better than the protein cubes at least. But I have been growing a bigger variety of vegetables and fruits in the garden on the Iskaulit, if you're ever interested.

Is the garden yours, then? [He's made use of it, for the green space, but not for what was planted there. It didn't seem his place.]

[ It's odd playing with an actual group of people, even though that's when the game is best. He sits, mostly silent, next to Wrath. Easier to let everyone else chatter, he can sit and listen. ]

[ Charles wheels up to him regardless, a casual smile on his face. ]

You seem to be a man of many talents.

Do I?

[ He's just sitting here munching on those weird bacon kelp snacks. ]

Knitting. Playing poker. To name a few, of course. I'm sure there's more.

[ He shrugs a shoulder, ducking his head slightly. ] They're just things I know how to do.

..Jim taught me. Knitting helps me focus on bad days. Taught me poker because I didn't know what to do with myself.
