[ kate's surroundings are, quite evidently, a lush little corner of málum. the neon-y blue tinge of the bar's decor casts its colour over her features. there's a tall, impressively concocted cocktail at her elbow. ] I mean, I know I do. So here's how it goes: you tell me anywhere you'd rather be but here, with the caveat that it can't just be a home. I think it's safe to say that home is a very understandable answer, but it's also a little too achingly realistic for my purposes. So pick somewhere else. Pick Ibiza. Pick Iceland, if you want.

[ don't sing her praises just yet!!! anyway, she starts packing up her little corner of the bar. it doesn't look like she's gonna get many more offers to dance, anyway. ]

[ he's actually...really curious to meet her. he didn't think he would be, but so far their correspondence hasn't been too bad! He's just wondering what she'll be like in person. ]

[ -- purple. in person, she's very purple. kate hops off the short-range shuttle and embarks upon the first breath wearing a fairly understated outfit of denim shorts, a purple t-shirt, and a pair of purple aviator sunglasses perched atop her head. why is she carrying around sunglasses in space? best not to ask. even her earrings are purple.

she doesn't rush to the kitchen. instead, she stops by clint's room for a brief chat -- a little conversation about everything that's recently gone down with the winter soldier, and how the avengers-from-another-world are handling that. their words don't go too deep before she slaps the side of his doorframe and announces that she's got a date to get to. (she doesn't, of course. this is absolutely not a date. but she just likes seeing that look on clint's face.)

which brings her presently to the kitchen, where she strolls in and tosses a shoulder-bag nonchalantly onto the back of a chair. kate's very familiar with this ship, and seems to treat it a little like a home-away-from-home. ]

[ A date hfffff Kate, please. That would rattle him so bad even as a joke!! So it's good he isn't there to witness that and is instead just a few moments later to the kitchen than her--he had to make sure he actually wore a shirt that didn't smell stale (because, he realizes, he only has one actual set of clothes here and has to make due with the jumpsuits this place provides while he does laundry).

But...wow. That is a lot of purple. And when he sees her he stops in the doorway, wondering if this is who he's supposed to meet. ]

[ -- she's already helping herself to the kettle's use, filling it with water. kate glances over her shoulder, smiles, and pauses in her work so she can properly greet this poor unfortunate soul. ]

Jihwan? Hi.

[ Poor and unfortunate describe him so well, she doesn't even know. But hey--if she's doing the tea thing...this must be the gal.

He'll nod, a little stiff and awkward because that's just how he is with people in the flesh. ]

Got it in one. [ meanwhile, kate is the opposite of stiff and awkward. she's a natural at this socializing thing -- perhaps due to years and years of dinner parties and roof-top galas due to her family's status in manhattan's social scene. it doesn't make it any less of an act, of course. something that can be switched off and on at will.

the fact that she's almost too social: too frank, too talkative, too bold? well, that's her own little rebellion against being raised a bishop. ]

I hope you don't mind. I started without you.

No, that's fine. [ More than fine because he had no idea where the kettle even was. She's doing a service here, in more ways than one. ]

I was changing. [ how does one people ]

...Okay. [ a low drawl, and a quirk of her eyebrow. she's not certain why he told her so, but maybe it has to do with his whole weird shut-in culture back in midgard. ] That's cool. Like I said, I know the ship. I don't mind taking a few liberties.

kate leaves the water to boil, but turns away from it so she can lean against the counter. casually, her arms cross. ]

How do you like your tea?

[ It happens when you become the #1 social outcast overnight and lose all connections to everyone aside from doctors and therapists. He's trying. ]

.......Steeped? [ HOW ELSE DO YOU HAVE IT JIHWAN, REALLY. ] Or did you mean like, what kind of tea?

Sure. Black? Green? Chamomile with a sprig of lavender? [ she teases, mischief dancing behind her blue eyes. ] Milk? Sugar? Milk and sugar?
