Want to play a game? [ kate's surroundings are, quite evidently, a lush little corner of málum. the neon-y blue tinge of the bar's decor casts its colour over her features. there's a tall, impressively concocted cocktail at her elbow. ] I mean, I know I do. So here's how it goes: you tell me anywhere you'd rather be but here, with the caveat that it can't just be a home. I think it's safe to say that home is a very understandable answer, but it's also a little too achingly realistic for my purposes. So pick somewhere else. Pick Ibiza. Pick Iceland, if you want.

Well, unless Iceland is your home. Then please refer to rule numero uno. It also happens to be the game's only rule. [ short and sweet, that's our katerade.

and maybe about an hour (and maybe another drink) later: ] ...Does anyone wanna come dance with me?

There's some overlap. Between the Avengers, and the X-Men. [ and then there are the times when they duke it out. but kate doesn't want to focus on that as the music's picking up and they make it to the floor. her dancing is -- energetic, friendly, and far from shy. girlhood ballet dovetailing into an older confidence. and many, many, many a night out hopping some of the trendier new york dance clubs.

she raises her voice over the music: ] Like Wolverine...?

[ a question. she wants to know if he knows the man. ]

[It was so similar to his own style of dance, provided there was a decent beat that Remy could get into, and a good dance partner always made it that much better. Remy loved to dance, it came very naturally to him and he certain enjoyed any excuse to do so.

At the name she shouted to him, Remy raised his brows then gave a shrug to the name, his own voice raised to answer.] Yeah, know Wolvie, he has a habit of tryin' to give me close shaves. [Having those claws too close to your throat was no fun.]

[ and oh, doesn't she know it: ]

He does have a habit of waving his claws around like some kind of mandate to do whatever the hell he wants. [ there's an undertone to her voice. she respects the legacy, but it's hard to forget being body-slammed against a wall and feeling the whispered suggestions of adamantium right under your chin. ]

Sounds like ya've had some fun meet ups with him as well. Certainly leaves an 'mpression, non? [But the limited knowledge he has on Avengers was that they were more of the 'good guys', it seemed off that Logan would be wanting their blood for any reason. Then again, Remy wasn't sure the angry little man really went off logic.]

Just the one meeting, about eight months before the Atroma plunked me here into the fleet. But I gotta admit that the circumstances were a little...exceptional.

That does seem to be the key word among most of our worlds that have versions of us in it. Guess trouble just sticks to some of us, no matter what world we be in. [It sounds like it works that way for him, then again, that doesn't surprise Remy at all.]

He was something of a dimensional anomaly himself. Not from my home-universe, if that makes any sense. More feral than usual, if you can believe it.

[That actually made Remy stop dancing for a moment, pausing mid action as he tried to process that information and giving it a mental image.] I... think I can, but don't think I want to be able to believe it.

And old. [ let that sink in for a moment. if there's one person who shouldn't be looking wicked-aged, it's wolverine. ] A staunch member of the blue-rinse club. His, uh, world sounded like it was especially crappy. I figure that's what accounts for the feral thing.

[ this conversation is perhaps getting a little too serious for dancing. kate still has hold of gambit's hand -- but she glances back towards her table. after a moment's hesitation, she tugs him back towards it. ]

[It was a little, wasn't it, and Remy had the good sense to give her a bit of a sheepish smile as she pulled him along, he happily following.] Ah cherie, didn' mean to ruin the dance like this. [Also, processing the whole 'old' Logan thing.] Will have to owe ya a proper one.

Pfft, dances are dances. It's not like you borrowed my Louboutins. With any luck, there'll be plenty of opportunities in future -- [ she slides back onto her stool and gestures at the space across from her. ]

Can only hope. [He answered as he took said seat, getting comfortable and leaning his elbows against the table.] Never know, our next stop might have some decent clubs again, always fun to find out different musics 'nd the like with all the species we run 'nto 'round the place.

Maybe. I wouldn't mind. [ ... ] But I also wouldn't mind coming across some planet with a fairly priced bow.

[ kate's not used to not being able to afford the things she wants. ]

[There was a blink of his eyes as Remy tried to figure out what she meant.] We talkin' accessories wise or weapon wise?

...Can't it be both? [ a pregnant pause before she takes mercy: ] But -- yeah, I'm talking about the bows'n'arrows version.

Hold on, hold on, [Remy held up a hand to stop her and take a step back, his smile slowly forming into a grin.] If we talkin' both, would it be a small bow, [Motioning with his hand as if he was drawing back a bow and arrow.] The size of a bow, or a bow, [This time mimicking making a knot.] Giant size? Because both sound real 'nterestin'.

[ chuckling: ] A regular sized bow can be just an interesting. I promise. [ but to clarify, ] I am talking about the bow-and-arrow kind.

[Remy grinned at her answer before moving away from his silly joke.] Never had a try at one m'self, not much call for it from my line of work 'nd never really had a chance to try back down South.

Not that you'd ever need to try, I guess. [ ... ] You've got your own specialty, don't you?

[ he's gambit. so he's likely got the same powers, she guesses. ]

Guess could say that, do prefer a bo staff, [Oh, unless she was talking about his mutant.] Ah yeah, 'm runnin' a little low on m' normal ammo, never seem to get m' hands on 'nough cards 'round this place.

No? [ maybe that shouldn't surprise her, but it does. ] You think the Atroma make it that way 'cause they know what you can do with them?

I think it more the case of just not all planets have card games. The Atroma had us all pulled onto one of their bigger ships several months back, threw everyone into one area 'nd they had cards there to help past the time. Collected up all I could back then.

'nd really, cards just be an item, 'nything I touch can turn into ammo. [A shrug of his shoulders with that.]

Funny, [ she laughs. ] So can I.

[ just with fewer...powers involved. ]

[Remy grinned at her laughter and comment, before curiosity turned it more serious.] 'd think that would 'ffect the aerodynamics a bit, though suppose depends over the distance ya firin'. Know I got a preferred brand to use, got the right weight to the cards so don't get blown 'way too easily, but still 'nough to get that right arch for it to really fly.

[ she nods. ] I know it's the same with -- uhm, Clint. [ a waggle of her fingers. ] A favourite brand. Knowing where to bend the card just right. I swear, that guy probably once made a living chucking stupid things into beer glasses from across a bar.

Me? I tend to stick to the arrows. Maybe the odd throwing star. A knife, if need be.
