Would anybody be interested in joining an Augment Support network? Like, for people who need help getting the hang of their augment and want to ask a veteran, or for someone who learns something new and wants to share it with their peers.

I'm fine with doing the all the administrative work if anybody is interested being a mentor, or would like to be available for a help line. Or if someone would like help connecting with someone who has more expertise.

I think we all have a lot to offer each other.

I'm actually not a soldier, but what I do back in my world comes with a fair amount of danger, so we're taught how to handle some standard weaponry among other things. I figure it might be a better idea to teach people person to person rather than let the augments handle everything.

I definitely agree. I mean, it's bad enough to rely on something you understand, but to rely on something you didn't want in the first place? No thanks.

I know a lot of people have mixed feelings about these augments, but you said you already had prior knowledge of this technology before you arrived. Did your augment teach you a lot that you didn't know, or does it feel like nothing's changed?

It helped me understand the system faster, but I think I would have understood it quickly enough without it too.

So they really are mostly to keep tabs on us. I wonder how that works.

It's very likely that they read things from us - bio data, potentially other things. But that's still just a theory, albeit a good one. It's likely through wireless signals and data transfers if that's the case - remote viewing so to speak.

I heard that theory. To be honest, I have no idea how that stuff works, but it would make sense. If they're going to throw their assets into a bunch of ships with no guards, they'd have to have some way of monitoring us. By having us staff the ships ourselves, it gives us the illusion of freedom, but by placing these augments inside of us under the pretense of providing necessary life skills, they can make sure we don't act up too much.

I haven't heard anything about the augments injuring anyone before, though. I'd be interested to see if there's any rumors of that flying around.

Well, they kind of do that simply by putting us in ships in an environment where it works in our favor to work together. Acting out at each other only ends up hurting ourselves, not Atroma.

I've heard something about calibrations before, but I think that was more mental than it was physical - not that that's any better.

True, but that also operates on the theory that people will always work toward the betterment of the group. ...which is nice to think about. I'd hope that's how it works out, but I suppose if people ended up dying through infighting they'd just have to get some more. Even if a ship was destroyed, they seem to make more come out of nowhere.

I won't argue that some people probably work for the betterment of only themselves. But this situation, as it stands, requires the group to do well for the individual. These ships require a crew, however small, and space is... difficult, to say the least, when you're alone. But maybe I just like to think the best of people. It's been called a fault of mine before.

Out of somewhere, or they steal it. I heard that's how we got the Iskaulit - took it over when the aliens that had been inside died.
