Action: the Blameless. warning for injury treatment, probably.

[This is the second time in the span of seven days that Erik has had to pilot a shuttle while his vision isn't a hundred percent. It's almost a pattern, he thinks blearily to himself. Different causes, though. As the shuttle docks with the Blameless, he can't help but blow out a breath.

First step done. Now to get out.]

[He does, though it's somewhat difficult. Erik's aware of the signs of concussion, so he says this.] My eyes keep blurring. And I have a headache.

[He nearly blacked out after he'd thrown Winter through the floor and wasn't in danger anymore. The pain tolerance he's built through his life kept him from doing so.]

[welp. Hank doesn't say anything for a moment, but then he's reaching for more of the gauze and something else to clean the wound]

Okay. [that was enough, at least, and later, once they were all able to rest, he could do any further scans] Keep talking to me, Erik. Who did we listen to after that terrible song you found?

[it's a ridiculous topic, but it'll keep him focused, and focused on something that isn't what just happened.

And not on how cleaning that cut is going to sting]

[Hank better keep his beeping scanning shit away from Erik, if he knows what's good for him. He groans, trying to cast his mind back. What was it? They'd been talking while Erik was seeing things, which made it harder to recall...]

Queen. Some rhapsody song about a killer. [He knows what's hip with the youth.]

[that actually makes him crack a smile, and he faintly shakes his head as he reaches up to start cleaning the cut]

Who was he singing to?

His mother.

[Erik doesn't wince as Hank gets to work. He's already compartmentalising the pain as best he can. Something else bothers him, though.]

You're not going to ask?

Not yet. You came to me because I'm a doctor, so let's handle that first.

[because he knows if he asks for any sort of details, he's going to get angry. He already knows enough to know that Winter's involved, and that's fine with him for now]

[Fine, fine... Erik shifts his left arm again, wincing.]

I felt something crack when he hit my arm.

Stop moving that. [it comes out mildly, and he finishes bandaging the cut on Erik's forehead before turning his attention to his arm. He makes a face]

Let me . . . get you some painkillers, and after they kick in we'll look at it. [he glances back up to Erik] Are you going to give me trouble if I use the equipment? Or are we doing this the old-fashioned way?

[Hank just gets a scowl in answer. It wasn't intentional.]

What exactly are you planning to use? [Better to know, so he can answer properly.]

X-Ray. [the scowl doesn't phase him. He pushes to his feet to go get the painkillers though, talking over his shoulder] If it's broken, it has to be done so I can see how it's broken to set it properly.

Fine. [Short and to the point.]

[when returns he takes Erik's hand and deposits a couple of pills into it, then holds up some water] Take those.

. . . I promise, no equipment if I can avoid it.

[Pills, ugh. Erik gives them a distasteful look before throwing them into his mouth, and following them with water. At least he has his own personal stash back on the Heron, whenever he gets back there... the thought gives him pause. Where is Winter now?]

Well, you're hardly going to get near me with most implements if I don't want you to.

[Hank just looks unimpressed. As per the norm, when they're bickering with each other about things that aren't mutations]

If I want to get near you with something, Erik, I have my ways. [it isn't a threat, just a statement to be contrary] Let me know when those kick in.

Hank, I don't need you to delay what you're doing until the painkillers take effect. Just get it over with.

Excuse me for trying to be nice.

Give me your arm.

[Erik holds his arm out wordlessly.]

[here's the fun part, Erik, since you're adverse to the equipment; he has to poke and rub at that nice, swelling area where the crack came from. He's being as careful as he can, but regardless it's going to hurt like hell]

[He bears it with a clenched jaw and eyes staring into the opposite wall. His head is throbbing, but now his arm is worse. Maybe, at some point, his lips curl back and his teeth are bared.

But he doesn't say a word.]

[he is reminded, once again, how much he hates this. How this shouldn't be happening. So on and so forth, in the back of his mind.

He finally sighs out and faintly shakes his head] As far as I can tell, it's fractured. [he glances up at Erik] Not broken, at least.

Good. [It will take less time to heal, in that case. They're not in Kyriakos anymore; they can't expect this to be resolved in a week or less. This is reality, where injuries will plague them for weeks.]

It still needs a cast, though. [but at least, it's not as bad as he assumed. He's glad for that much] Just splinting it wouldn't be enough to let it heal properly.

[Maybe it's the blows to the head talking, but Erik finds that very confusing.]

Where... are you going to get things to make a cast with?

I . . . have it here already?

[he's giving Erik a very worried look] It's a proper medical lab.

I haven't familiarised myself with your lab, Hank. [In his own, he's only spent time around the chemicals and areas needed for stripping metal of poison. Maybe he's looked around the rest, but right now he can't recall the contents of it.]
