[She wakes up feeling odd. Can't quite place it. Her clothes hang a little more loosely when she puts them on, and Nami makes a face. She's been run off her feet way too much lately. Which means... now is probably a good time to make that call she's been putting off, with certain bffs turning into crazed Stepford wives. :|]

Malum isn't the only place that's short-staffed. The Space Bar could do with at least one more bartender, maybe two. We definitely need a chef, so if you're interested in earning some more cash and all the free drinks you want, basically the same deal applies! I'll be at the bar all day, so if you're interested, come in and say so.

[She could probably have put more effort into that, but she's too tired. Blagh. Oh wait, an addendum:]

Within reason, by the way. If you're some kind of demigod with a limitless appetite for alcohol I'm pretty sure I'm gonna have to limit you on your free consumption.

[This is not hypocritical at all, given her own tolerance. But hey. Basically if you can outdrink Nami, you... probably shouldn't get all the free beer you want or you'll put her out of business.

Now excuse her as she yawns off to work.]

[For the afternoon she's fine, even if she has to cinch her cute saloon dress in another tiny bit. She has lost weight. There's a vague resolution of taking a couple days off and stuffing her face once she has more than one other staff member (and Fenris could probably do with the option of more time off besides), and she just gets on with it. If you come into the bar in the afternoon she'll be her usual self, serving drinks and talking to potential employees or crammed in a corner on a break with a sandwich and a pack of cards.

Evening hits, and so does exhaustion. She slows down, occasionally gets distracted staring into space, and there's a light flush on her face that isn't from drinking. It's only a few hours on that she has to squint to focus, and Nami acknowledges that, okay, she might be coming down with something, and maybe she left looking for staff a little too long. But she keeps working, until either the bar closes or someone well-meaning chases her out of the bar. Buuut if you do that, you better be prepared to cover for the rest of the night, gosh.

Either way, by the time she leaves the bar and starts heading for the shuttle bay, her face is flush with fever to the point that the tips of her ears are turning red, and all her joints ache.

This feels familiar.

...it's probably just the flu.

She travels the hallways down to the shuttle bay, leaning on the walls to get her balance back, and manages to make it all the way down to the Bloodsport's shuttle, getting the hatch open, before she just... slides down its side to her knees, closing her eyes. She should probably get back to her ship and get a doctor's opinion.

Orrr maybe she'll just... pass out. Right here.

[ Thank goodness, because he's not sure he'd be able to take upsetting another person he's starting to become fond of over something like this (Beverley, why :c).

He shakes his head at Simon's question though. ]

No...I just found her in the shuttle.

[Simon quickly took Nami's pulse, before reaching for a themometer.]

Okay. Has she shown any other symptoms- a cough, fainting, anything like that?

I found her passed out on the floor...and she was talking about a beach or something. [ Is that helpful at all? ]

Delirium... talking while one is unconscious. It's not necessarily a bad sign, but I'll need to examine her further to know for sure. [Simon bit his lip as he looked at the thermometer readout- yep, she definitely had a fever. Simon then gently touched the side of Nami's face.]

Nami? Can you hear me?

[Most of the conversation has passed her by in a muddle of voices that may as well have been in another language for all the processing she's doing right now, but the touch to her face focuses her a little more. She can at least recognise her own name.

...oh, a question. She should... probably answer it.]

[Simon couldn't help but laugh at both their comments.]

I believe so. Nami, when did you fall ill?

[Sass aside, she frowns, eyes opening a crack before shutting again. It's too bright in here. Uh..]

Time is it now...?

I went to work. Fenris sent me home. That was...evening. Around dinner time.

I found her just a little while ago...I came straight here.

[To Sascha-] I'm glad you did. It does not seem like she's been unconscious for long, but still...

[Then, to Nami as he seized his stethoscope and began listening to her lungs-] You're running a fever, as I'm sure everyone here can plainly see. You might be dehydrated as well. Do you feel weak? Any congestion?

[Dehydrated wouldn't surprise her, with the amount of heat radiating off her skin. Nami frowns. There's that notion that this feels familiar, but that doesn't seem right, either.]

I'm-- my head hurts. [Actually--] Everything does. [But there's no congestion. Not a single trace of it-- she breathes in deep as if to check for herself, and just wilts a little more.

I'm too old. [Apparently we're back to statements that make no sense.]

Aww, you don't look that old.... [ He's helping, I swear. ]

Definitely not old... though we may feel it sometimes.

[Frowning as he put away the stethoscope, Simon thought he saw something- a mark- on Nami's stomach under the folds of her shirt, and lifted it an inch or so to look. Indeed, there were bruises all over.]

Nami? Did you hurt yourself? There's a cluster of bruises on your stomach- they're purple, so they are fresh.

[There's an eyebrow twitch at Sascha's comment. Honestly, why you people don't just read her mind or something-- never mind there were a couple of obvious steps missing from her train of logic.

She goes still, though, at Simon's observation. She doesn't even need to see for herself. The familiarity slams home. She's too old because this was years in the past, so why now?]

We need to sail--

[No. She squeezes her eyes shut, putting a palm to her forehead. Let's make some sense.]

It's a glitch. It has to be. It's a tick bite. But I haven't been bitten.

[There. That was actually concise.]

...can I have some water?

[pneumo]

[ **Coherent. Almost. Sascha's never seen a tick bite do that before and he winds up looking at Simon helplessly for answers. ]

A tick bite?

[This was repeated with some incredulity; he looked almost as helpless as Sascha for a moment.]

Sascha, could you please get some water and help her drink? No gulps, just sips- I don't want her to choke. [Without waiting for an answer, Simon sanitized his hands, snapping on a pair of rubber gloves and examining the wound more closely.] It's strange, I don't see any puncture marks... but this has happened to you before? You are sure that it is a tick bite?

[Nami shakes her head. Regrets it, and holds still as the world swims back to something resembling normal.]

I haven't been bitten by anything here. I don't think. Years ago I got bitten and fell sick just like this. [She lifts a hand, splaying the fingers out on the bruise pattern without looking.] If it's here, then it's... not really a sickness. It's an augment glitch.

[pneumo]

[ Hopefully it's not where Nami indicates, Sascha thinks, because this doesn't seem like any sort of "fun" sick (as fun as being sick ever gets). This seems a bit more serious, so for once he stops being so foolishly clumsy as he grabs the water as instructed and moves back to Nami's side, helping to prop her head up so he can raise the glass for her to drink from. ]

[Simon nodded his approval at Sascha before he sighed, going to prep an IV bag.]

If this is an augment glitch, then there's probably not going to be much I can do until it passes except make sure you are hydrated and give you medication for your fever. Is it okay if I put an IV in your arm to give you fluids?

[She's quiet for a long moment, processing that. Fever medication is helpful, but she knows there's infection involved-- but on the other hand, if it's a glitch, will it get that bad? The water is a godsend, thank you Sascha :c She'll drink her fill before she responds, though she waves a hand feebly in consent to the IV. Sure go ahead.]

...can glitches kill?

[Because she's just a little nervous about that part.]

[ He's here to help!! Although he looks a bit stricken at Nami's question when it comes and looks to Simon for an answer as well--does he need to worry for Nami even more? 8C ]

[And without futher ado, Simon begins inserting the IV; though he's sure he could do it while talking, he waits until he is done to answer her question.

Before Winter's attack, he was sure nobody here was going to die. But now? Atroma might well be getting bored enough. So he chose his answer carefully.]

I have been on this Fleet for more than a year and haven't known anybody to die yet. So I'm sure they do not intend to start now.

Mmmf. [That's her first response. The IV hurts going in, in a way that has far less to do with Simon's skill and more to do with how hypersensitive everything feels. She frowns. If it's a glitch, then maybe it won't progress to end stages. Then again...

Well, it's not like she remembers the cure for it anyway. Way past being alert at that point. She wishes Chopper were here.

Simon won't let it come to that. So, after a few moments of owlish blinking, she closes her eyes, lips curving up.]

Well...if they do, I guess I can test whether the dead come back to life or not.

[pneumo]

Nami...! That joke isn't funny! [ SHE WAS JOKING, RIGHT? SIMON? )8 ]

[Simon hid a grimace at that comment, then smiled reassuringly at Sascha.]

Some people find it helpful to joke at times like this... but I will do everything in my power to make sure it does not get to that point.
