[It's so reminiscent of those recent memories of being such friends that it's hard not to fall into that sort of camaraderie. And when had he become the sort of person who could like others so easily? Perhaps Luceti had done stranger things to him than he'd realized.]

Curious, I've found the same. [Well, intellectually. When you grow up in Asgard and all...]

It does well for one's popularity, yes? [Snort. Like Hel is does.]

[Ahsoka gets a bit of a faraway smile on her face.]

Back at the Temple, the Masters were always telling me to slow down. Sometimes I think that's why Master Yoda assigned me to Anakin-- the only Jedi Master they had on-hand who wouldn't immediately despair at being assigned a student who never stops.

In hindsight, I was surprised by Anakin's patience with my fumblings of that week. But perhaps you taught him to rise to the occasion.

[He snorts.]

But I was rather an indolent bookish sort, to the despair of those who would be my master.

Maybe that's why we make a good team. You can be the brains to my brawn.

[It's a comical statement, coming from her-- she doesn't look anything like brawn. Ahsoka stands at only five foot seven, and that's including her extra three inches of horns. And while she's clearly lean and muscled, she's still skinny, so it's hard to look at her and realise that she has enough Force-assisted-strength to throw a full grown man across a room.]

[Oh, he knows not to underestimate the ferocity of small women. He grew up with Sif. He grins.]

What, let you do all the work while I sit back and read?

I could find this agreeable.

[resnipstance]

[She leans in, grinning.]

And then you can summarise all the cool stuff you learned and save me the trouble of reading!

[That answer actually surprises him a bit, and it shows on his face. A pleasant little surprise, though, for all that it's just casual teasing. He ought to have known, though.]

Those poor books, so unloved by you. It is tragic.

What! [Ahsoka just shrugs, hapless.] It's not like I can't read 'em if I have to. It's just-- there are so many other things to do. I hate sitting still.

[complicatedliar]

If you have to. What cruel words. I will visit my old friend, if I have to. I'd be stricken to the heart. [Definitely teasing.]

I used to read whilst riding.

[resnipstance]

[Her face scrunches up.]

Doesn't that give you motion sickness?

[complicatedliar]

...motion sickness?

[Not an amnesia thing. He hasn't encountered that before. Not a problem Asgardians tend to have.]

[resnipstance]

It's when you get dizzy or nauseous from your inner sense of equilibrium being thrown off? Happens to people often if they're on a really rocky form of transport, or if they're reading and moving at the same time...? No? Not ringing any bells?

[complicatedliar]

[He shakes his head.] Not an affliction Asgardians are subject to.

[And he's not one of them, but he's not getting in to what he actually is. Ahsoka's already seen far too much.]

[resnipstance]

Huh. That's weird.

Is that what your people are, then? Asgardians?

[complicatedliar]

It sounds a good sort of strangeness for one to have.

[Hah. Now that is a question.] Asgardians are the species native to Asgard. [Totally an answer.]

[resnipstance]

[She picks up on the evasiveness, if only because you become a master at such things when you live and grow up in a Temple full of Jedi who can all tell if you tell a direct lie. She and just about everyone she knows is a master of the "answer the question by telling the truth but also not directly answering the question" maneuver.

But at the end of the day, Ahsoka's policy on calling people out only applies if it's important. Otherwise, she figures they have their reasons, and they'll get around to it when they get around to it. Loki's no exception. So instead, she directs the flow of conversation somewhere else.]

I see! Well, it doesn't always figure. I mean, I'm a togruta, but my species' home planet is called Shili. And I grew up on Coruscant!

[complicatedliar]

A more interesting naming scheme, at least. Though the residents of Asgard are collectively called Aesir. More of a cultural label than species, perhaps. The Aesir were gods to the humans for a time.

[resnipstance]

Really? How'd that come about?

[For all that Ahsoka isn't into books, she's far from unintelligent or uncurious. She just doesn't learn well through written media. Stories, she's perfectly happy to listen to.]

At one time, Asgard acted as the protector of MIdgard, the human realm. Until the most recent king, Odin, decided that he no longer felt like it and left the humans to their devices.

[resnipstance]

[Ahsoka's nose wrinkles upwards again, and her eyes narrow in confusion.]

What? What do you mean he just "no longer felt like it"?

[There's no small amount of judgment in her voice. Protecting those that need it is something Ahsoka feels very strongly about.]

I was an infant at the time and he did not see fit to consult me. [Shrug.] But I have yet to find a satisfactory explanation for his sudden reversal of the old pacts. A sudden burst of isolationism, perhaps, for Asgard ceased to protect the other realms as well, but for Vanaheim--and my mother was of the Vanir, so I think Odin could hardly have gotten away with letting her people twist in the wind.

[resnipstance]

[Ahsoka folds her arms over her chest, unimpressed.]

Well, it sounds kinda rude if you ask me.
