[I did :C But it is a sacrifice that must be made.]

I've never done it before, but I've seen them around. Is it difficult?

[notzubats]

[whoops sorry brah]

Well, it's not too hard... [there's tricks to it that he had to learn, sure, but...] And you're a water seraph, so maybe you'll have an easier time of it. Not like I have a net or bait anyway.

Just call me over if you need help, okay?

[nerdeology]

Will do. You being able to hear me makes it easier. Although...

[He takes a few steps forward again, drawing a big "X" in the sand with his feet.]

So it'll be easier for you to find the area.

[notzubats]

Oh, good idea!

[Yeah, that x will make it easier! He turns to go]

[And off he goes to get the supplies! ]

[Mikleo watches him go, curious, a few puzzle pieces sliding into place. Dezel likes this kid, doesn't he? He gets the feeling he knows why. Sora's got a familiar energy level to him.

ANYWAY, crabs. He's supposed to be looking for crabs. He returns to the tide, allowing the water to act as an extension of his eyes, feeling it out in a way that's similar to how Dezel reads the wind. He's nowhere near that skilled - he has all his other senses to distract him - but when he closes his eyes, he can feel the movement beneath him, the shift of wet sand and water molecules brushed out of the way of flapping fins. He just needs to wait for the right moment, gesture just so, and-- there.

It takes practice, but he's in no great hurry. By the time Sora returns he's more or less gotten the hang of it, and there's a very different landmark waiting for him by the cross in the sand: a big, misshapen chunk of ice. Peppered here and there inside the ice are a handful of various shellfish and - in the center, one big fin sticking out the top - a mid-sized shark.]

[It takes a bit of time for Sora to return. Before he gets firewood, he heads to the piers and picks up a cooking pot, a cooking stand, some fresh water, flint and some extra ingredients from the merchants. After he shoves the smaller stuff into his many pockets, he heads out to the woods to pick up some firewood and kindle. He tries to stay close to the water and beach while exploring for wood- he knows fully well about going into the tall grass trees without company, after all]

[Finally after all of this is done, he returns. And...whoa, what a sight he returns too and it shows in his face. He was not expecting Mikleo to be this successful, or for there to be big chunks of ice]

Whoa...!

[nerdeology]

[Just in time! Mikleo's coming up from the water, holding another chunk of ice; this one has a lobster inside of it, antennae sticking out of the front and still wiggling. So, uh. Enjoy that magically floating frozen fish.]

Oh, you're back. Good. What do you think, are any of these things edible?

[notzubats]

[Yeah...the floating ice with a lobster is weird. But when you live with a seraph for months, you just learn to live with floating stu. He walks closer, looking at what's in all that ice on the ground]

Haha...I'll say. I think you got enough to feed a whole ship-

[Wait]

- Is that a shark?

[nerdeology]

I'm not sure, I've only seen them in drawings. I was hoping you could tell me.

[Honestly, he assumed it would be nastier, with all of those teeth, but it had seemed pretty content to ignore him until the ice came out.]

[notzubats]

[He kneels down and gets a closer look at it]

Yeah...that's definitely a shark! Nice going, Mikleo! [He grins] Man, I've never gotten to try one before.

[nerdeology]

[Yay! He did good. He feels oddly proud of himself, though he knows a certain mutual friend who wouldn't approve.

He definitely needs to track Sorey down after this and share some, though. How cool is this?]

I didn't even know you could eat it! That's amazing... where do we start?

[With so many options, he isn't sure which one to pick.]

[It's okay what Dezel doesn't know won't hurt him.]

Yeah, it's considered a delicacy back home! Sharks aren't really easy to catch for most people.

[What with all the teeth and all.]

How about...you get the fire started, and I start prepping the crabs?

[nerdeology]

[Ooh, delicacy. Now he's even more intrigued.]

Sure, I can do that. Here-

[He holds the piece of ice he's carrying out towards Sora.]

I'll get to the rest when the fire's going, but this should break easily enough if you find a rock to hit it with.

[Weak to earth and all.]

[notzubats]

[He'll take the ice and quickly put it on the ground next to the other blocks of ice. Gah. Too cold. It doesn't faze his smile beyond a second, however]

Okay! No problem!

[He looks around the area for a rock- and hey there's one! He brushes it off with sand, inspects it then heads back over to the ice to get to work]

[nerdeology]

[Mikleo at least has enough experience with Sorey's fire pit and various camping shenanigans during their travels - though they usually left it to Lailah, considering - it's not difficult to get a decent fire set up.

Once it seems a healthy enough size to leave alone, he goes to his ice block coaxes loose a few more frozen crabs before following Sora to see what he's doing. If he's going to show Sorey later, he'll need to know how to do this part, too.]

[Sora meanwhile, once he managed to break off enough ice to get at the shellfish and kill any of the ones that were still alive, has started to clean them up and break them apart. Seeing Mikleo coming over to watch, he'll smile at him and grab a fresh shellfish]

Here, lemme show ya.

[And then he starts cleaning out the crab and breaking it apart to prepare it for cooking (which I'm vaguely handwaving since his mun lives in the middle of a continent so she has no idea what she's talking about). When he's done, he drops it into the pot near him.]

When we got enough, we'll wanna cook them over the fire with water.

[nerdeology]

[Nooooot like Mikleo or his player knows any better anyway, woo

Mikleo watches carefully, mentally taking notes of every step, then starts drawing the ice away to free more shellfish so he can give it a try.]

With water? You mean like a stew?

[notzubats]

Yeah, sorta! I mean, you can make crab stew- but this is a good way to cook them through.

[nerdeology]

Oh, I see- just like boiling vegetables. That makes sense.

[SO MANY THINGS TO LEARN. He calls up some water to fill the pot, since the only other source around is the ocean. Unless they want salted crab or something; he'll leave that up to the cook.]

[Which considering to Sora that looks like water appearing out of nowhere? He's thoroughly impressed as he watches]

Whoa! Cool trick...!

[nerdeology]

Thank you, but it's not a trick or anything. It's called a seraphic arte- I can summon and control my element at will.

[notzubats]

Oh. Like Dezel can control stuff with air? Huh. I never thought of that as summoning before.

[What with air literally being everywhere usually]

How many different kinds of Seraphim are there?

[nerdeology]

Well... there are mainly four elements that the vast majority of seraphim are connected with: water, fire, earth, and wind. But there are some that don't fit into those categories, so in truth I don't know exactly how many might exist.

[notzubats]

Really? Only four main types?

[He finishes with the crab he's working on and moves onto another]

Huh. I...kinda expected more.
