wolfehawke: (Well I'll Be)

A. Lemme know if this is ok!

Sorry to bother you, but...

[The shopkeeper's assistant, the one who packed Beverly's basket of pastries so none would get squished, happens to be a member of the fleet too. Adalwolfe Hawke is on a mission to make as many acorns as he can, but upon seeing Beverly - or rather, overhearing her name exchanged with one of his many current temporary employers - something else has jumped to mind.

So he decided it was time for a ten minute break and made his way to her lunch stump.]

You're Beverly Crusher, aren't you? The Doctor for the Blue Fish? Sorry, I couldn't help overhearing.
dancingmd: (oookay)

[Beverly squints and sets down her food. Something is... familiar about this man, though she can't put her finger on it.]

I am. Is there something I can help you with?
wolfehawke: (look aside)

[personal profile] wolfehawke 2016-06-30 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
I'm Adalwolfe Hawke, most recently of the First Breath. I understand you're Wrath's doctor, yes?

[He doesn't join her in sitting without an invitation, but he does feel somewhat awkward towering over her as he is. No help for it though.]

I offered to help her recently, but she suggested I speak to you first as you're heading up her care.
dancingmd: (wonder)

[Once he says his name, that's when it hits her. Hawke. He's not Garrett, oh no, even if the name was the same, but he reminds her of him. Like a brother or a cousin. But first things first.]

Certainly. Have a seat - how can I help you?
wolfehawke: (Sheepish)

[personal profile] wolfehawke 2016-07-01 03:41 pm (UTC)(link)
[Grateful as he's been on his feet for what feels like days, Hawke lowers himself next to her, leaving space so he doesn't sit on her lunch.]

Well, I'm a mage. I have some small skill in healing that may hasten her recovery and lessen her pain. I offered to use my magic to that end on her, but she said to check with you as she wasn't sure if there would be a reaction with her 'stems'. Which I assume means medicine.

[He leans back a little, hoping that Beverly doesn't freak out about his admitting to be a mage. It's not really a secret anymore after his post and other events, which is why he announced it so boldly in the first place, but there's a deep-seated unease with saying it so openly in unsure company.]

There shouldn't be any reaction, honestly, since what the magic does is help the body's natural healing processes to go more quickly; I can't do anything supernatural with it, I'm not that skilled. All it would do to anything in her system is flush it through more quickly I would think. Still, if she wanted a more expert opinion, I'm loathe to argue with a lady.

[No need to worry, Hawke - after over a year in the fleet, Beverly doesn't bat an eye at magic. Even when she was new, she simply found Garrett's abilities fascinating, not repulsive.]

I'm not opposed to the idea, but either way, she has to have surgery to remove the cybernetic implants in her spine, as they are the underlying cause to all her back issues, and I don't want to do anything that might jeopardize that. Your healing will probably be more helpful after the surgery is over... though you should know you are not the only one to have offered. Nightingale has as well, so you'd have to talk with her, to see if your magic is compatible.

Nightingale?

[Funny, Lady Nightingale refers to someone entirely different where he's from, a name only spoken in whispers. Honestly he's only aware of Leliana's nickname because of Varric, but she's no mage so unless something's changed, Beverly must be referring to someone else.]

If she's a full on healer, she's likely more apt at it than I could be. I'm more curious as to what cybernetic implants are.

Her powers are somewhat limited, but I'm the first to admit I still don't fully understand how all the different magic systems work, so you'll need to ask her for the details.

As for the cybernetic implants, that simply means she has mechanical and computer parts integrated into her bodily systems.
wolfehawke: (concerned)

[personal profile] wolfehawke 2016-07-04 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Why would someone do that?

[It's not judgmental but honestly curious. If you can be healed with magic, why get something implanted instead?]

Unless they wanted to do something a normal person couldn't, I suppose.

[He muses on it for a moment, then shakes his head.]

I'll touch base with her when there's a chance, then. I'd be pleased to help Wrath get up and about again. Being bedridden is terribly boring.
dancingmd: (listening)

[personal profile] dancingmd 2016-07-06 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
There's any number of reasons why someone might do it - if they need a replacement limb or organ or if they're born with some sort of disability that cybernetics can either fix completely or at least help alleviate - blindness, for example. In Wrath's case though, I believe it was done so she would be stronger in a fight, since she's a soldier.
wolfehawke: (half smile)

[personal profile] wolfehawke 2016-07-08 04:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I see. I suppose it's hardly different than putting on armor, other than being far more permanent, but I'm no stranger to the concept of armies doing what they must to win.

[Like drinking darkspawn blood, apparently, in the case of the Gray Wardens. How had Anders never told him about that before? He's still reeling even though he'd learned this weeks ago.]

Still, if they're causing problems, better to get them out. I'll certainly help in any way I can. Just let me know when you'll be working on her.
dancingmd: (head tilt)

[personal profile] dancingmd 2016-07-08 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
[Beverly smiles.]

I will, thank you.

[But now for her concerns... she tilts her head and her brow furrows.]

May I ask you something? Not related to Wrath.
