[The Stalker hasn't sought out his shipmate in awhile. This time, it isn't deliberate. He wanders the planet, enjoying the solitude. It's been far too long that he had some space to himself.

He doesn't mind talking to Leto, though. For a moment, he watches the man playing with the lava.]

Is your body human?
precedented: (Do you move in a kind of sleep?)

[personal profile] precedented 2016-06-28 05:31 am (UTC)(link)
[ The question gives him pause as he lets his arm sink into the magma with a hiss. ]

For the most part. I've given up the human necessities.
c0nsequences: (I'm listening)

[personal profile] c0nsequences 2016-06-28 05:36 am (UTC)(link)
For the most part? So you were human originally?

[Is there a way to transcend the human form beyond exposing oneself to the Void?]
precedented: (Polish comes from the cities)

[personal profile] precedented 2016-06-28 05:39 am (UTC)(link)
[ He lifts his arm, watching the lava drip off his skin. ]

I was. Born and raised as any human. Then I had to change for humanity's sake.

[ Though his birth and his nature were irrevocably changed by the Spice. Leto never had to be taught anything. He had millions of ancestors in his mind to pass on their skills and legacies. He was old before he was ever young. ]
c0nsequences: (staring)

[personal profile] c0nsequences 2016-06-28 05:47 am (UTC)(link)
As did I.

[He whispers it, but Leto probably hears anyway.]

Were they worth it?
precedented: (A wall against the wind)

[personal profile] precedented 2016-06-28 05:51 am (UTC)(link)
[ Leto's eyes go warm, like pools of water under a nightlit sky. ]

Always. The price was heavy, but I've never fully regretted it.
c0nsequences: (hmmmm)

[personal profile] c0nsequences 2016-06-28 05:57 am (UTC)(link)
Humanity was dead before my time, and their heirs slaughtered before my eyes. Many have told me they weren't worth keeping alive.

[personal profile] precedented 2016-06-28 05:58 am (UTC)(link)
And what do you think of that, Almirez? Did they deserve such an ignoble end?
c0nsequences: (perhaps.)

[personal profile] c0nsequences 2016-06-28 06:14 am (UTC)(link)
I don't remember. They live on, I suppose, in the Grineer and Corpus and Tenno. But those are dregs, not worthy scions.
precedented: (We pay for the violence of our ancestors)

[ His lips twitch. ]

Memory can only stretch so far. But that is not what I asked.

[personal profile] c0nsequences 2016-06-28 06:27 am (UTC)(link)
[The Stalker considers this for a moment, watching the lava and thinking.]

They were powerful once. But their pride undid them. In the end, they were desperate. Pathetic.

[Something he never understood until he came here.]

They relief on deformed children to save them. Perhaps they deserved their end after all.
precedented: (Greatness is a transitory experience)

[personal profile] precedented 2016-06-28 06:30 am (UTC)(link)
Perhaps. But an end to anything is always a terrible fate. There are no second chances, no more hopes. It simply . . . ends.

[ He smiles, standing up away from the lava. ] I always find that to be a sad story.
c0nsequences: (I'm listening)

[personal profile] c0nsequences 2016-06-28 06:47 am (UTC)(link)
You prefer stories with a different end? We seldom find those in my world.
precedented: (And when it has gone past)

[personal profile] precedented 2016-06-28 07:30 am (UTC)(link)
No, I simply prefer stories with no end. That leave the conclusions open to interpretation.
c0nsequences: (staring)

[personal profile] c0nsequences 2016-06-28 07:47 am (UTC)(link)
When alien races promise genocide, how can there not be an ending?
precedented: (No matter the mood)

[personal profile] precedented 2016-06-28 07:54 am (UTC)(link)
When alien races promise to do so, how can people not rise up against them?

[personal profile] c0nsequences 2016-06-28 07:57 am (UTC)(link)
An ending for the Sentients would have been an ending nonetheless.
precedented: (It's so easy to civilize)

[personal profile] precedented 2016-06-28 10:07 am (UTC)(link)
Most likely. Though sentience is not something that can simply end, no matter what powers wish it so. It simply isn't feasible.
c0nsequences: (perhaps.)

[personal profile] c0nsequences 2016-06-28 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Can it begin?

Cephalon Simaris believed that humanity created the Sentients. In a way, they could have manufactured their own end.

[personal profile] precedented 2016-06-29 09:15 am (UTC)(link)
A part of humanity. I doubt all of humanity consented to such a thing.
c0nsequences: (my plan is perfect)

[personal profile] c0nsequences 2016-06-29 08:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Would all of any race ever unanimously consent to anything?

[This is why he's always been better off alone.]
precedented: (And when it has gone past)

[personal profile] precedented 2016-06-30 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
[ He laughs, amused. ]

Unlikely. But that is the beauty of any race. Freedom of choice is a lovely thing.
c0nsequences: (perhaps.)

[personal profile] c0nsequences 2016-06-30 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
It's not something I am accustomed to.
precedented: (A million deaths were not enough)

[personal profile] precedented 2016-06-30 04:57 am (UTC)(link)
Perhaps you should try it while you can.
c0nsequences: (I'm listening)

[personal profile] c0nsequences 2016-06-30 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
How can I? The Atroma controls us.
