Let's all hold hands and sing Kumbaya

[At long last, the fleet has arrived to a new planet. This means it's time for a mingle guys! Get in! ]

[Vash has always liked hammocks. So comfortable. So when he found one for sale he didn't take much time to barter and make it his own.

He had just finished finding the perfect spot to hang it. The perfect place to lay down in it. Perfectly comfortable. Perfectly at peace. Perfectly happy. Perfectly hearing a surprised snarl quickly passing through the trees and coming right towards him.

Waiiiiiiit.]

[Vash cracks open an eye just in time to see the unhappy, snarling, and very surprised raptor flying through the air on an arch perfectly in line with his hammock.]

WHAAAAA-AHHHHHHHHHHH!

[Vash scrambles like mad out of his hammock. Escaping only moments before the raptor hits. Sharp talons shredding the fabric to bits.

Only there is no time for Vash to lament over his lost nap as the raptor is VERY angry and Vash is the only moving target to blame at the moment.] N-nice lizard.

[Vash takes off running through the trees with the raptor right behind him.]

MOMMYYYYYYYYY!!! [It's a fun chase until Vash finds a branch low enough. He leaps beyond what a human can leap and starts scrambling upwards.] Go away! I didn't even DO anything!!

wow Vash, she bets she could hear that scream if her hearing wasn't sensitive. Ugh. Fine, fine.

He's up there for a few minutes while she tracks him down. You say that branch is beyond what a human can leap to, but it's not beyond a pooka, is it? Suddenly, a small child lands on the branch from... further up in the tree, apparently.]

Oh, hello! What are we running from?

[One might think Vash was too out of breath after all the yelling, running, and climbing he had just done. Sitting on a high branch, panting as he gets his breath back, with the raptor circling below.

They'd be wrong as Vash let's out a surprised shriek when Katie lands on the branch above him.] THAT!

[He points down at the raptor. Vash hadn't been worried when it was just him. He could wait for the giant lizard to wander off. Now there was a kid to watch out for. Not that he will show any of this outwardly.]

Goodness. I wonder how that got there.

[I am unrepentant. I am also casually climbing up you, Vash, to hook into your back like a monkey. Fine time for a piggyback, right?] You should jump to the next tree before its friends catch up.

[Vash easily shifts and hooks his arms naturally into the best spots to hold Katie onto his back. At no point does her decision to get onto his back feel like it's going to knock them off their branch as Vash rants like a grouch down at the raptor.]

That's what I would like to know! One moment I'm about to enjoy my first nap in this really nice hammock I bought today and then this thing suddenly comes flying out of the air! Crashed right into it and shredded my poor hamm--

[Wait.]

Did you say friends?

[Hang on Katie as Vash isn't waiting for an answer and is already leaping into the next tree. Not that it really matters if she hangs on. There is no way Vash will let her fall as he easily clears the distance and lands into the next tree.]

[That's fine, Vash. Her only response is giggling as Vash snags a clue and jumps to the next tree. Oh, but that was rather impressive, wasn't it? She didn't have to give him a hand at all.

The raptor makes an odd shrieking sound as he goes, circling the tree once before bounding after them. Does it have friends? Who knows. She kind of punted them in different directions, after all. Hee.]

I think town is that way.

[SHE'S POINTING IN THE DIRECTION OF THE VOLCANO, JUST SAYIN'.]

Alright, then! Hang on! [Vash steals a quick peek down at the raptor below as he takes off in the direction Katie pointed. Vash is good, but his attention is split a few different ways at the moment so he doesn't notice straight away that Katie isn't pointing towards town.

Give him a couple minutes and a bit of distance between themselves and the raptor and he'll catch on. Until then Vash is busy running across branches and leaping from tree to tree.]

[Goodness, what a distracted adult you are. Katie starts giggling. Clearly she is unaware of how much trouble they're really in.]

You're very fast. Have you fun away from dinosaurs before?

[Hell, the raptor is just getting more annoyed. GET DOWN HERE.

...oh, it seems to have picked up a friend.]

No, but I have run from sand-worms! But usually with sand-worms you just have to keep running until you hit rock! WHHHAAAAAAAAA! THERE'S ANOTHER ONE!

[And suddenly yank to the left. GO AWAY DINO!]

Oh! It's multiplying! There's probably more somewhere. You must smell nice. Or maybe they like the colour red!

[In which case they're both in trouble. Small child is unperturbed, apart from adjusting her grip on his coat.] Perhaps you shouldn't be running toward town. You'll lead them right into all those nice people.

That is a good point. [Sudden stop as, nope, that branch that way may be too far with one hand occupied with making sure the kid on his back doesn't fall. She doesn't seem to be needing his help, but still, he can't stop himself from worrying.

And back tracking slightly to get to a better tree.]

How'd you know it had friends? Do you know how many of these things there are?

Oh, don't you have dinosaurs where you come from? They're like wolves and hunt in packs! But don't worry. The packs don't usually get bigger than an even dozen.

Also, why did you stop that is a perfectly acceptable jump, gosh. But she's not going to give away any ~magicalness~ yet. This is too much fun.]
