[Felix has only had a brief introduction to alchemy as a form of magic (despite the fact that the practitioners of it would absolutely insist that it wasn't), but it's enough to recognize it when he sees it in action.

It's still very impressive. He approaches as Al is finishing up a piece, and unlike many of the people around he doesn't seem very shocked by the display. He does, however, look keenly interested.

How do you dictate what form the material takes?

[Ah, another person who seemed to know what he was talking about. Al considered a moment, before picking a piece of chalk off the ground and grabbing a flat piece of wood, sketching a circle. No need to get into the whole "I've seen the Truth and can transmute without drawing a circle" part yet, he reasoned.]

First I draw a circle like this, then write runes around the outside of it. The circle contains and focuses the power of the transmutation, and the runes tell the material inside the circle what to do.

I see. Yes...the does make sense. The runes provide the framework. But how specific can you make it?
