[At long last, the fleet has arrived to a new planet. This means it's time for a mingle guys! Get in! ]

[He blinks innocently at her, like he doesn't know what she means.]

What? I totally did.

[He lifts his hands - or lowers them, still upside down - and covers half an ear with each, concealing the pointed tips.]

I thought I'd try stretching them out for a while.

[flickerflash]

[She giggles.] It seems to be very successful, then. Do you think I could try? It might be nice to have pointy ears. Do you hear better?

[...never mind that her real ears are already pointy. Comes with secretly being a cat.]

[huaaaaagh]

You could try, I guess, but I'm not sure my technique is transferable.

[It's not like he understands how this is even possible, so he can't tell anyone else how to do it.]

I hear a little better, but it's mostly the aesthetic that I'm going for. What do you think, is it a good look for me?

[flickerflash]

[She makes a disappointed face, but then shrugs, leaning back to get a proper look at him.] Pointy ears always look good. It makes you look like an elf! Do they come with magic powers?

[huaaaaagh]

Not magic- at least, not here- but they do come with something better.

[In his opinion, anyway. Magic's never been his specialty. His brows furrow, concentrating for a moment, and two pairs of translucent black wings appear behind him.]

[flickerflash]

[What-- hey NO FAIR.]

You get wings too? [She stretches up on tippy toes to try getting a better look. She's not sure whether she's in awe or jealous.] Now I definitely have to try stretching my ears out! You can fly around, right? I know a girl who has big butterfly wings but she can't do much more than look pretty.

[huaaaaagh]

[Kirito grins, stretching his legs out to let go of the branch, flipping head over heels until he's upright. The wings begin to flap at once, humming musically at his back as he hovers in place. He doesn't like to show off most of the time, but the wings are just such a delight, so they're fun to share.]

Ta-dah! Pretty cool, right?

[flickerflash]

I'm definitely jealous! [But wow, they're humming. She walks around him below in a circle.] Why don't you use them all the time? I would if I had wings.

[huaaaaagh]

Well, I use them a lot when we land on planets and stuff. They're good for getting around quick.

[He drops down a bit to hover more at her level, keeping still as she circles around.]

They're not really built for confined spaces, though. Can you imagine me flying through the hall of the ships with these? I'd crash into every single wall.

[flickerflash]

[Annnd she's back to giggling.] You'd get so bruised, and people would yell at you for thumping around everywhere.

How far can you fly?

[huaaaaagh]

My limit's ten minutes, so however far I can get in that amount of time. After that the wings need a rest. I've never had a chance to gauge the speed, but I can go pretty quick.

[flickerflash]

You should time them some day! Get into a race with a flock of birds and see if you can beat them.

[huaaaaagh]

Oh, I could totally beat a bird in a race. Those are easy. I'm thinking airplanes might be a challenge, though?

[flickerflash]

In that case, I suppose you're the fastest person on the face of this planet. That's a very lofty title to live up to! I wish I could fly.

[huaaaaagh]

You want to go for a ride?

[It's been some time since he tried to carry someone, but with his extra strength augment, he's at least more suited for it than he was before.]

[flickerflash]

[She glances sharply up at him with a hopeful look.] Could I? I won't be too heavy, will I?

[She's like 50 pounds, which isn't as heavy as some redheads we could mention. But nevertheless!

...and practically nothing as a kitten, but nobody knows that part. Oh well.]

[huaaaaagh]

Nah, I don't think so. I've carried bigger people than you, and I'm stronger now than I was then. Either way, it's worth a shot, yeah?

[Conveniently fifty pounds just happens to be the strength boost he's gotten, so she shouldn't feel that heavy at all.]

[flickerflash]

Okay!

[She reaches out her hands and makes grabby motions.] Could you go all the way to the volcano?

[huaaaaagh]

[He's already half-reaching back, but that gives him pause.]

Wh- you want to go to a volcano!?

[flickerflash]

It's tall but it's far away. We don't have to go! I just wondered if you could fly that far.

[huaaaaagh]

Well... technically I could, yeah. I can't promise that it wouldn't take a couple of pit stops along the way, though. I'm slower when I've got cargo.

[But okay, he goes back to reaching. Take an arm, kiddo!]

[flickerflash]

I'll try to be very light. But I don't mind where we go! Just flying is fun.

[Arm snagged!]

[huaaaaagh]

[He immediately starts to float, moving upwards at a medium pace until they figure out a destination.]

Well, you were checking out this big tree, right? Want to see the upper branches?

[flickerflash]

[...it is a huge tree. And flying means not climbing it, so-]

Could we? I've never seen a magical tree before.

[huaaaaagh]

Sure, why not? Hold on tight, up we go--

[His wings begin to hum more loudly than before, and with a mighty kick off of one of the lower branches, he launches them skyward, weaving carefully between the leaves to avoid smacking her in the face. It doesn't take them very long to get way up there, branches getting thicker and thicker.]

Do you know if this thing has a name?
