[ he takes one of those cubes for himself. She's right, not bad at all. This is easy enough, with Natasha. Their time together has helped to form this friendship, odd as it may appear.]
Ended up being an unfortunate destination.

[Her smile is a little more genuine when he plays along.]
So where are we going tonight? I'm ready for something that can't be described as a gel or a solid.

[ instead of, you know. HYDRA and an uprising and having to take down SHIELD. Talk about a poor honeymoon experience. ]
We'll have enough of that once we leave this planet. The good thing here is that they have fish. I found a nice place by the beach.
[ which is exactly where they're going, passing by both natives and fellow passengers ]
It's something, isn't it?
[ the fleet. ]

[It's easy to fall into a patter with Steve. They have enough history working together to make the connections. Easy, and somewhat soothing.]
Luckily, could go for some fish.
[She doesn't have trouble following his train of thought, but she shurgs at his last question, noncommittal.]
It's something all right. Still figuring just what.

[ it's easy enough, with Natasha. She's a friend, has been since their shared journey as fugitives of SHIELD. He's more comfortable around her than some of the others. Some things, many things, they will never see eye to eye about but there is plenty respect there, still. ]
Yeah, so are we. They say reality show, some say it's all a facade, can't really tell. Sometimes they make contact, so I've heard.
[ mainly from Winter ]

[She almost drawls his last name, the humor very evident in her voice. He expression resolves into something more business-like.]
What kind of contact are we talking about? Do they send fan mail?
no subject
[ just saying. ]
From what I've gathered? They have access to the network and they use it for announcements. I only heard of one girl who does it, a hostess named Diamond. If she works for them or she's one of them, I have no idea. Never met her myself.
[ but after everything that happened with Winter, he has a feeling it's not going to be a pleasant meeting. ]
no subject
[She can't entirely pass up the opportunity to tease him.]
Diamond, huh? Can I ask who has met her, or is your source a secret?
no subject
[ he insists because 1) it's true and 2) he can't thing of anything more embarrassing than watching a woman like Natasha in a bikini, thank you very much. he'll never hear the end of it ]
Winter.
[ and after a moment ]
Bucky. Goes by Winter. Don't ask him about her, though.
[ not when the going theory is that she sparked the winter soldier's madness. ]
There are others here who heard from her, I bet we can ask them.
no subject
[Steve brought this on himself. If he's going to insist, Natasha will just have to make him back it up.
That's an easier conversation to have than one about Barnes.]
I heard about that. Him going by Winter. We actually had a little chat about it—as much as he chats.
I don't think I'll be interrogating him anytime soon.
no subject
[ but there is a smile there. With Natasha, she either teases him, tries to set him up on dates or fighting along his side. ]
He's a good guy. He just - I don't think he can remember most of it yet. Everything that came before HYDRA.
no subject
[Always the gentleman, Steve.]
I didn't say he was a bad guy. [Good and bad had a habit of falling by the wayside to other concerns for Natasha—she was pragmatic that way, and well aware that a pretty good argument could be made she's not all that good herself.] He seemed stable when we talked.
[But she'd heard that wasn't always the case, but as long as Barnes stayed that way, Natasha was willing to have other priorities.]
no subject
[ it's an honest tease, meant more as a compliment. She is beautiful, scars or no scars, there is no need to look closely to know. He won't tell it like it is, somehow, he seems to have started to understand what will work with Natasha. ]
Thank you.
[ he spares her the story of what the Atroma did to Winter for now, focuses on being grateful that she's able to let this one slide. ]
We almost have the whole team, save for Thor and Banner.
no subject
[She counters, raising one eyebrow.]
Looks like. That doesn't exactly seem like an accident, does it? All the people in all these worlds, and somehow we're all here.
no subject
[ honestly, Natasha. He shouldn't have to tell you that you're attractive. He thought so much is obvious by now. he shakes his head, a fond, long-suffering gesture. ]
No, it doesn't and we're all from different points on the timeline, too.
[ and then, of course, there is the other problem ]
Did they tell you Loki's here?
no subject
[Her smile is just a little crooked as she says it, amused.]
But this might be all the flattery I can take for one day.
[A slight pause, her smile falling.]
Yeah, I heard. I haven't run into him yet. Not a reunion I'm in a rush to make.
