I have an important request. I need someone who can make cheese. Do cheese makers have an old timey name like cobblers and haberdashers or are those only for clothes? Anyway, calling all of those.

Cheese doesn't seem to be a thing here from what I can tell, but we're just one ingredient away from some really great pizza. I have no idea what cheese requires other than cows or goats or something. I grew up so close to Wisconsin, but I feel like I learned so little.

I would also accept alternative cheese. I know there were vegan kinds made out of hopes and dreams or something I assume. I can pay you or share the finished pizza or do something in trade if I had skills. I could beat someone up for you maybe. [She's not going to do that. Probably.] We'll work it out.

[He stiffens for a moment, before he tightened his grip with one arm, and lifted one hand to stroke through her hair.]

They usually bring those people back though, yes?

Logan didn't. [There may well be more examples of those who did wake than those who didn't. But Logan is a pretty important example. He wasn't from her world, but he reminded her of her mentor. She kept checking on him. Waiting for him to wake up and then his name was just gone from his ship roster one day when she checked.

And since they're touching and on the planet it doesn't matter if she keeps her words short. Her feelings and memories are anything but. She's barely spoken of Logan at the time, but it didn't mean it didn't affect her deeply.]

Winn isn't Logan. [He can almost taste Kitty's fear and desperation, as if it was his own, and he put images of Winn's determined face through his own mind. He had seen Winn's face - knew that he doubted himself but he never doubted his friends. Would never abandon them unless he had to.

Logan, it seems, was a mentor and almost a father-figure -- but as previously said ... Winn was not Logan. Winn had an entirely different incentive to stick around. Love.]

I know, but I don't think it's something people choose. [Is it? Her Logan chose to leave before when she still needed him. He left the team with Jean and she felt so lost again.]

And even if he does wake up it could be with more memories. [Even if he doesn't know he's wonderful, he is and the possibility he'll wake up in love with someone else is too real. It's also happened to her before with Reid.]

[He sighs, softly, before he strokes his fingers through her hair.] Well, I know that when he can, he will come back to you. And if he has ... more memories, well. We cannot judge those until he returns. We can't work on no information. But I am here with you, no matter what.

[She's calming and relaxing with the touch and reassurance. Unwanted thoughts have just been boomeranging around in her mind for days getting louder and more persuasive, but he managed to chase some of them away and quiet the rest to a reasonable hum at least in the moment.] I know you're right.

...I'm not very good at waiting. [Driving herself crazy with no idea what to do with herself.]

[He is keeping calm and quiet, letting her sink into his solitude with him. Let it her be lulled with his firm assurance.] Well then you shouldn't be surprised.

[A soft laugh.] You are horrid at waiting.

[She doesn't smile, but it's a near thing. Closer than it's been in days.]

So what am I supposed to do? [Give her some direction. She might even take it.] So much of her life was fighting monsters she could see. They were always too big, too powerful, and way too many, but they were as tangible as she often isn't. She could hit and claw and phase her way through them. She could be active and making a difference even if it was a drop in an ocean. There's nothing to fight here.]

[He thinks about that, for a long time, before he states simply.] Take on one of Winn's projects. Something he cared passionately about, that he would want to see continued in his absence. It will keep be a way to help him, and be with him, even when you can't be. It will also keep you from driving yourself insane, which we would all appreciate.

[That's actually...kind of a great idea. She'll have to think about which and she's sure she doesn't know all of them, but it does feel like a good way to connect with him when she can't do it any other way.]

You think you'd miss my sanity that much?

[He smirks against her hair - both for the surprise acceptance of his idea, and the question about her sanity.]

My dear Kitty, since I am fairly certain your sanity is the only thing that keeps you together at the seams, I would not relish stuffing you back together. You're a biter.

I'm almost sure I've never bitten you. What has Winn been saying about me? [You know, back when Winn could say things about her.]

No, but I note you did not say you would not bite me in the future. [Is his innocent reply.] And you know very well Winn would never tell me.

I'm not in the business of making promises I might not keep. [About as playful as she's getting and a sigh follows his last comment.] Oh, I know.

[Not that she wants Winn idly talking to people about their love life, but they did have a fight not too long ago over Tyrion. Winn felt like Kitty had set up a thoughtful and romantic date for him with his favorite meal. He might hate that she's here now too, but he also didn't want her being unable to see her friends so here they are. And those memories may now play themselves for Tyrion on top of it all. Hazards of the planet.]

There's something to look forward to. [All those memories flood through him, and he lets out a wry snort.] He pays me a greater compliment than he knows. Especially considering ... well.

[That Winn was, and always would be, a million times better for Kitty. Or at least that was the thought that Tyrion had. He wasn't a sweet man, he was a kind man but not a trusting one. Winn was all those things, and more. He would always be able to give Kitty more -- and Tyrion knew it.]

[She pulls back if only to sit at a less awkward angle, but she keeps a hand in his.]

You know I can't argue that you'd be better for me than Winn. [Because loyalty and love and all that.] But you're a great guy, Tyrion. [That's why she was drawn here when she was feeling lost. He may not trust easily and neither does she, but she does trust him.

And how do you compete with Winn on sweet? Winn really does seem too sweet to be real. If their situations were reversed he'd be... What? What would Winn do?

Work frantically trying to find some way to wake her back up probably and still find time to have surprises waiting for her when she does.]

I would honestly be surprised if you did. [Is his wry response, but it's softened by a smile. Their trust was built on hard times, hard confessions, and this ... odd planet. Honestly he only trusts her more now.

But Winn would always win on sweet. He was what Kitty needed, and wanted, but mostly needed. What she needed from Tyrion was a friend, and that was what he was here for. Blurry lines be damned - if his level of dedication wasn't completely naked.]

[She squeezes Tryion's hand thankful for his wry comments and gentle understanding.]

I really don't want to lose him. [She knows there's nothing more to be said or done about it. She just has to wait now, but sometimes you just have to say the thing you feel even if it is obvious. But she is realizing maybe for the first time just how deep her feelings for Winn go now. She isn't just upset about losing another person in a long strong of loss or about the thought of starting over again. She's really upset about Winn specifically and what he means to her.]

[He squeezes her hand in kind, before he sighs quietly.]

I cannot promise you that you will not. What I will say now is that we will not give up on him. Not without a fight. He would not give up on us. [That much he could say, without a inch of doubt. Winn would never give up on them, so they would never give up on him.]

I wish there was something to fight when these things happen. Just a monster or ten or fifty that I have to take out. [Battles like waiting and hoping for the best aren't her strong suit. She'd like a chance to punch and kick and claw her way to victory again.] I promise it would be good ratings.

I apologize, the only monster there is to fight is in your own mind, my dear, and I cannot battle him. Only you can. [He gave her a sad little smile.]

I know. [She sighs and lies back on his bed. Totally normal and appropriate, right?] How are you? [Since she hasn't seen him in awhile and hasn't asked and just barraged into his room tonight to hijack his support.]

[Absolutely appropriate. No idea why Winn is worried about the two of them. He himself slumps back against his pillows, his expression slightly quizzical and amused.]

...I have never been so accidentally close to people in all my life. I believe you are the only person I have purposefully touched through this entire encounter. No, I take that back ... I purposefully took Dany's hand to get her that dragon egg. I believe I managed to keep my most inappropriate thoughts in check.

[Right? The most innocent an unassuming.]

I'm honored. [She's teasing, but what she said was also true. She is honored to be someone he'd want to share his thoughts and feelings with even when you don't have much control about what comes out.]

I talked to her finally. You still seemed to be in her good graces, so I guess it worked out.

[They are so platonic it hurts our teeth.]

You should be. [Is his mock answer, but the smile he gives her is warm.]

I am not entirely sure Dany knows what to make of me. I shall endeavor to work on that.
