[ This thread is going to serve both as a canon update to post Captain America: Civil War for Winter and Vision, but also be used as a monthly catch-all with prompts. ]

[ It's been a few weeks since they've landed, so Winter's finally gotten over most of his initial uneasiness. Enough to finally venture into the forest for a hike and get the lay of the land. He's familiar with the beach and the markets, and he's heard things about the forest and a certain tree, so he needs to see for himself if the rumors are true.

It's relatively peaceful, and he hasn't come across anyone else yet. He's making his way around a fallen tree when an animal jumps out of a nearby bush and startles him. Winter stumbles back, and his immediate reaction is to reach out with his left hand to steady himself. Unfortunately it's still broken, so it doesn't cooperate like it's meant to. Which means that he trips and falls. Down a steep hill. Only having one functioning arm means he raises his right to shield his head until he can manage to slow down or run into something. Which is exactly what he does before his head smacks solidly against a hard surface. ]

[Meanwhile, the Vision is similarly engaged in heading toward the tree to investigate it. He’s heard you need someone’s hand to hold in order for the magic to work, but his curiosity has the better of him and he’d like to observe it in action first. A scuffle down below his flight path catches his attention, and he swoops into the forest to see what’s going on just in time to see Winter, of all people, taking a tumble down a steep hillside. He rushes over to try and intercept the man before he seriously hurts himself, and in his rush he miscalculates his own density and slams down hard enough that Winter smacks his head against the Vision instead of catching himself safely.

Oops.

The impact is enough to snap the Vision’s head back and hit it against the tree he’d been trying to prevent Winter from hitting. So now there are two enhanced individuals knocked out on the forest floor. How very impressive.]

[She looks at him for a moment, almost pleading, but ultimately she slowly nods her head. A small flicker of a smile appears on her face though.]

As if you're not on the team... or did you forget who exactly you were standing next to at the airport?

[Her teasing him is her way of saying that she'll be okay.]

No, I know. I'm grateful for it.

[ He's quiet for a moment, heaving a tired sigh. ]

You really think we should tell him even if it hasn't happened to him yet?

[Wanda knows this next admission may earn her a scolding, but she know she needs to tell Bucky why she's been feeling this way.]

I... I told Peggy and Sam... everything that happened. I haven't told Natasha or Stark, but... for the people closest to him to know and then to not tell him...

[She shakes her head. She knows she has gone about this all wrong.]

I am sorry.

[ Well, that makes things more complicated than they needed to be. So he can't really keep the situation under the radar anymore, he's dealt with worse. ]

Alright. I'll handle it.

[ He nudges her hip gently with his boot. ]

Don't be sorry. You did what you thought was right.

[She looks at him, both surprised and still asking for an apology in her expression. She thinks for a moment.]

I can be there with you. Peggy, Sam, Vision... you don't have to tell him alone.

No, it shouldn't all be on you. I'm just being selfish.

[ It's true, isn't it? He doesn't want to start any sort of conflict and have to deal with the outcome. ]

[She shakes her head, giving him a small, comforting smile.]

We both are.

And it doesn't have to be all on you either. You can stop trying to shoulder everything all on your own. Let me at least help you. One more time.

I need to tell him something else, anyway. May as well do both at the same time.

[ Nope, going to shoulder everything always. Just try and stop him! ]

[She thinks on this a moment. She knows she can't stop him from just going off on his own to confront Steve, but... she still feels that she need to try and help mitigate the burden somehow.]

Will you tell me? When you've told him?

[At the very least, she thinks she can try and have her own talk with Steve after Bucky's spoken with him.]

I'll tell you.

[ He fully intends upon telling Steve on his own. It feels like he may not say everything he needs to with someone else watching. He trusts Wanda, he really does.. But Bucky needs to do this on his own. ]

[She nods. A small smile of gratitude on her face. At the very least, that would be enough for Wanda to be able to face Steve herself.]

Thank you.

[ The first initial thought is 'you don't need to thank me.' Probably wouldn't go over well, so he opts for something with more middle ground. ]

You're welcome.

[She smiles, a nod of appreciation accompanies it. She turns to look out over the ocean once more.]

Things are going to get a little more complicated now. Aren't they?

I don't think things will ever not be complicated.. But once everyone knows, it might get ugly.

[ Especially in regards to Stark. He just hopes other people in the Fleet aren't dragged into this shitshow, too. ]

[She sighs, knowing that he's probably right yet still hoping that he's not.]

You know, Vision knows, and I know. The three of us... we can keep things in check.

We can hope so, anyway.

If anything, Stark will be the one who--

[She stops herself, biting her lip. Her lingering distaste for Tony still apparent. However, she recognizes that if they are truly going to keep lines from being redrawn, then she too needs to control her anger.]

We'll cross that bridge when we get to it.

[ Honestly, he's less than happy about the whole situation. Wanda has every right to be furious at Stark, though he may or may not be aware of it right now. He doesn't blame her. ]

Maybe we'll get lucky and most of his anger will be directed at me.

[Wanda turns, looking a little puzzled.]

Why do you say that?

[ Oh. WHOOPS, CAT'S NEARLY OUT OF THE BAG. Dammit. He's going to attempt to shrug it off. ]

Steve chose me over the shield.

[ Smooth. ]

[Wanda gives him a look that says she knows there's likely more to this than that answer. Whatever happened after the two took off in the jet, she imagines it has something to do with that. However, she recognizes that enough secrets were already being shared, and they should each still be entitled to some privacy. So, she lets it go. Her look turning into a sympathetic grin. She nods her head, signalling she understands.]

Well, you are childhood friends.

Maybe, but the Avengers were family for him.

[ After all, family should trump friendship, shouldn't it? Most of them don't have biological family left to speak of.

It doesn't really mean anything now, does it? Who puts their own family in a prison and considers them war criminals for trying to do the right thing?? ]

I never said it made his choice easy.

[The sympathetic smile lingering on her face.]

And I am sure they still are to him.

If his determination to get you all to safety is anything to go by, I'd say so.

[ Steve never could idly stand by and let people he cared about be imprisoned. ]

He has not yet given up on me. I will not give up on him.
