[ Itachi's been tinkering with the video feed. He kind of gets it. But he accidently turns it on while just trying to use the camera function to pick confetti out of his long, black hair. A red eye stares back. ]

...Who knew the afterlife would throw me a welcoming party. [ Because really, where else would he have gone to? He's buried in the sky, among stars. His fingers bat at his hair more, getting the rest of the glitter out. He'll probably be sparkly for a couple of days. However, his eyes catch sight that he is recording... and his expression softens, before going flat. He's got an incredibly similar face to someone else on board. ]

Ah. I've been caught. [ He doesn't say anything more--but the camera shows it moving away from his face before shutting off completely. ]

[ That . . . sure looks like a carbon copy of Sasuke, save for a few marked differences. A sibling, most likely. Obi-Wan runs a hand through his beard, contemplative before he responds. ]

You're not dead. At least . . . not here. Caught by who?

[ This is some new information. Everyone else has just been... confusing, at best. ]

...I didn't mean to utilize the... recording function. [ And now the whole ship got to see him primping, wonderful. ]

You can probably see for yourself. After all, there are telling signs if you are dead at this moment.

[ He shakes his head. ] I'm sure it's fine. People are often unused to the level of technology here. Would you like me to privately lock this conversation?

...I'd like that, thank you. [ If he was really able to do such a thing, by all means. Itachi's always been a private person, anyway. And, this person seems as if they could give him decent information. Bonus: he's not a little kid. ]

[ With that settled, Obi-Wan locks the feed and folds his arms. ]

What would you like to know? I'll answer to the best of my ability.

We'll start with something easy. Who might you be? [ No use in starting off talking to a complete stranger, right? ]

My name is Obi-Wan Kenobi. I'm a pilot on the Huntress.

[ He hesitates and takes a stab in the dark. ] The same ship your brother resides on.

[ A pilot. He sounds important. Itachi has no idea what these things are or even the first thing about how to man one, certainly. But he nods at the introduction. ] A pleasure, Kenobi-san.

[ But at the mention of his brother; oh, those red eyes of his show the spark of interest. But they settle down, expression smoothing into neutrality. ]

...So you know Sasuke.

[ He nods. ] I do.

[ Obi-Wan won't offer more beyond that. A lot of Sasuke and Obi-Wan's conversations were private. It was their nature to be. ]

I see. [ He has a feeling this guy isn't going to give him much on that front. He doesn't know... what Sasuke has said to him about... their relationship. That topic is a bit too heavy at the moment. So he settles on asking... generally neutral questions, trying to play off how anxious he is to hear about his little brother. ]

...Is he... doing all right?

[ A smile flits by. ]

He seems to be fine, all things considered. I haven't heard him complain.

Really. That's surprising, considering he's a brat. [ But he can;t help but smile at that. ]

...As long as he's not causing you any trouble, Kenobi-san... then that's good enough for these ears.

He's never caused me anything of that sort. And I rather enjoy his company.

[ That kind of sentiment reminds him strongly of Anakin and himself. Anakin, however, is older and moving on to different paths, the kind Obi-Wan can't follow. ]

I thought it would help to hear.

It does. [ There's a small pause. ] ...Thank you. [ Really. ]

If you could clarify... I've heard that we're all being... surveyed? Paid specimens, so to speak. I'm not 100% sure on the details.

[ Obi-Wan nods. ] You're welcome.

In a manner of speaking. We're watched through discrete means. The idea is our lives are aired for an audience to see and enjoy. Much like a drama or a series.

I know civilians have plenty of shows to watch... but it's never been something I've paid attention to.

Is it true that the more... entertaining you prove to be, the more you're paid?

That's correct. I'm sure you'll notice your bank balance soon enough though it won't help much on the planet we're currently orbiting.

[ And for a moment, you lose sight of his face in the video. He is moving, very fast, to the nearest window. He practically plasters himself into it. His age is showing. The device is pressed awkwardly close to the glass, but it shows his reflection, wide-eyed, as he gazes out the window. ]

[ He can't help but smile. ]

It's quite a sight.

Nothing is wrong with it. They just use a different currency, that's all. Finding a job there is fairly easy.

[ And his hand lifted. He moved the device so it was focused on his again. His other hand was feeling behind black hair, to his ear. ]
