(Frustration is bound to get the better of Maedhros. He does not come from a patient family and the ships offer new obstacles to someone who is missing a hand. Currently, his hair is damp, his pale, freckled skin rosy from a fresh wash.)

Orro, none of this was made for one my size! (He tugs on a shirt that is not exactly the right length. It reveals part of his nearly-emaciated abdomen.)

Does anyone have suggestions? I can barely care for myself in these confines. (And that is...aggravating. Very much so.)

Atar? Toron? Cousin? (This is him waving the white flag for day to day tasks. Either he is going to cut his hair or have to (embarrassingly) ask someone to help him braid it.)

(He rubs his arm.) I would transfer to your ship, but what about Findaráto?

But I should have remembered. [ Maglor says brokenly ] That was what I was supposed to do. I was suppose to remember you.

You were supposed to remember your clumsy, too tall brother having trouble bathing himself?

(His lips twitch in amusement.)

I forgot that you can't do your hair by yourself. [ No absolutely not going to fall for your cheer-him-up gimmick! ]

I should have remembered that. Such a little thing. I... what use am I if I forget?

It seems a minute quality. I would much rather you remember me as strong and capable.

(His eyes shine with affection.)

I do! Nelyo is always Nelyo. But... [ Sometimes I cannot remember the exact color of your hair, or the shade of your eyes, or the sound of your laugh... ]

I can come. [ And he does!

Also it gives him time to sit in the shuttle and remind himself not to panic and that Nelyo is still here and he has time to remember him again ]

(Maedhros is ready. The moment he hears Maglor's voice, he steps up to him and wraps him in a hard embrace.)

You worry overmuch, though I admit not without reason.

[ the tension in him leaves when Maedhros hugs him, automatically clinging back. ]

I am sorry. I will try not to fret. I can stay up here instead of on the planet if you like? And here we should sit down and I will do your hair like ww used to.

(Maedhros loves his brother oh so much. He turns his head to kiss the side of Maglor's head.)

No, I will go with you to the planet. (His sense of adventure hasn't totally be quelled.) Only if you promise to stop blaming yourself.

Only if you want to. But it is nice there, Nelyo.

[ The Sea, Nelyo! ]

I... but... it isn't my fault?

That's right: it isn't your fault. (He nods at Maglor's endorsement, moving to sit down.) I would tell you if I was angry with you.

[ Maglor follows his lead easily, settling beside him and leaning into his support ]

Even though it was my job to remember?

(He picks up a brush and hands it to Maglor, shaking his head.)

Your job is to be my brave, talented not-so-little brother. Nothing else.

[ He takes the brush, starting on Maedhros' hair automatically and shakes his head ]

I still... I was... if I am the only one left behind, then I need... I need to remember.

(It is a little known fact that he likes his hair being brushed and braided. He catches Maglor's hand on one pass and frowns into his eyes.)

I would much rather you live. Live the life we all should have had.

[ Maglor blinks at him, and there is no comprehension in his eyes ]

How can I, when you are all gone?

(Maedhros moves to rest their heads together.)

One step at a time. Leave yourself open for joy.

[ Maglor bumps back, gently ]

I don't know if I remember how, but if you wish it Nelyo, I will try.

(He grins and smoothes over Maglor's hair.)

I believe in you. I do wish it and I know you will succeed.

[ Maglor leans a little into that hand appreciatively ]

For you, Nelyo, I will do my best.

Your best has never disappointed me. (Maedhros tugs on Maglor's ear affectionately.)
