ᴀᴜᴅɪᴏ/ᴀᴄᴛɪᴏɴ | too bad, so sad
Who: Dezel and you
Broadcast: Yes
Action: Crowley's bar or the Huntress, whichever you prefer.
When: Now
[audio]
[Someone is definitely growling. You'd think he was a dog, but then he seems to form words. Every consonant sounds like a knife against stone.]
I'm staying away from the planet for a while. If anyone needs me—
[He hesitates.]
—too bad. [And he hangs up.]
[action]
[Despite his grumpy broadcast, Dezel can be found in certain places. One of them is Crowley's bar. He's invisible, but that doesn't stop him from cleaning glasses and making tiny, pretentious food. If you can't see him, it's like some invisible Christmas elf keeps leaving tarts everywhere.
Alternatively, he can be seen (or not seen) sulking in the Huntress' cargo bay, sitting on some boxes beside a window. In his lap is a fuzzy happy little slug that he strokes with due diligence.]
[ooc: If you're meeting Dezel in person and haven't done so, please fill out his seraph permissions!]

you're doing better than dreamwidth, who lost an ENTIRE WEBSITE
Dogs are still ace, though.]
It'll come with time. People on my ship adjusted and so will you, unless you'd rather pretend I didn't exist.
[Goodness, the belly scratches. He's going at it with both hands now and sending this poor dog into mabari heaven.]
Your companion is more intelligent than most people.
Whoops :T
But you do exist. Pretending otherwise is just ignoring the truth.
[People are stupid, though, and very unkind at times. He wouldn't put it past some to deny Dezel. With a small huff, Hawke starts readying things behind the bar.]
Ser Drools? Absolutely. He's the most intelligent member of my family including me.
[The dog, upon hearing his name, barks in assent, but considering his tongue is lolling out of the side of his mouth and he's in the throes of back-leg-thumping bliss, it sounds ridiculous.]

[Dezel's arms are getting tired, unfortunately, so he lets Ser Drools go back to drooling, and straightens up a bit. He has to start on a new batch of fruit tarts. After a minute or two, Hawke may notice a bowl of strawberries floating somewhere in his peripheral.]
Is he bred for it? While I wouldn't trust him to command an entire army, there's no doubt he would be amazing at strategy.

[He glances over at the floating berries, squinting a little bit to find if he can make out any shape. He thinks there might be a kind of shimmer whenever Dezel moves, maybe, but that's all he can make out.]
He's a war dog.
[A war dog who isn't looking much like one laying spread eagle on the floor with his tongue lolling out.]
He's trained to go into battle and attack as directed, or as best as I could teach him. I was twelve when we got Drools and twelve year olds aren't quite the best dog masters. Still, he's got it in his blood and I've seen him take down a rampaging ox to keep my siblings from harm when they were children.

Hm. I can believe it. [He sets the berries down and begins chopping them.] Even a typical dog could be that loyal, but they're bred to be pets-- not for battle.
Are there many of them in your world?

[He glances over at Ser Drools who is only now coming out of his belly rub-induced stupor.]
Though... I can't say we didn't experiment with finger paints when I was a boy.
