I wanted to let anyone who may be interested that I've transferred ships from the Huntress to the Golden to be with a friend who recently arrived in the Fleet.

[but that isn't the only reason she made this broadcast. she's curious about something as well.]

I know others have mentioned there is a spot in this planet that will provide one important item to you. I was wondering what others have received. I think it would be interesting to hear about.

[ being a teenager trying her hardest to look dignified while reeling from the unknown or unexpected is what barriss does best, so although she's been largely keeping to herself on the golden these days, it would be rude to ignore the newcomer. ]

Oh, hello. [ the green girl, short black hair uncovered but pulled back from her face, makes a sweeping gesture, meant to indicate the confetti. ] You've just arrived on board, I take it?

Yes, I've just transferred from the Huntress.

[a small, polite curtsy.]

Barriss Offee. A pleasure.

[ she curtsies in return, glad for someone else around that greets that way. ]

I take it you're already familiar enough with the fleet, then?

[bloodbiter]

The pleasure is mine, Barriss. Well met.

[a nod, and a pause to determine just how long it's been.]

Yes, I've been here for just over half a year.

[ontrial]

Then you're probably more settled than I am, even with the confetti. I've only been here... just about two weeks, I believe.

[bloodbiter]

I see. Are you adjusting well? It can be very difficult acclimating during the first several weeks.

[ontrial]

[ there's a hesitation there, then barriss gives a hopefully reassuring smile. the problems she's had adjusting to the news from others from her galaxy don't matter here, on their ship. so long as no other jedi transfer aboard, she can handle this and keep the golden positive. ]

It's been a little disorienting, admittedly, but I did have the benefit of already being used to space. Not everyone's had that.

I see. You're from a place where this sort of travel is common, then? It isn't the same for me, so it always seems very fascinating when people are entirely used to it.

I can imagine it must seem... big. But I grew up with humans and aliens from all around the galaxy, and I've spent the last few years travelling, mostly with my mentor. I can even fly a ship if I really have to, it's all so common where I'm from.

[bloodbiter]

It sounds incredible, to have those kinds of experiences. Do you have a pilot augment, then?

[ontrial]

No, the one for the laboratory. [ she gives a little shrug. ] I preferred to spend my time as a healer at home, so I guess our hosts wanted to make me feel comfortable.

[bloodbiter]

That's a wonderful skill to have. I do hope it won't need to be utilized much, of course, but it's commendable all the same.

[ontrial]

I agree, but I'm just as happy to be here in case of sprained ankles or training mishaps, honestly. Better to be prepared than not.

[bloodbiter]

That much is certainly true. Are there many on this ship who commonly spar, then?

[ontrial]

I don't know, actually. I know our captain is keen to have us all trained in firearms, but I'm better with melee weapons myself.

[bloodbiter]

[frowns.]

Firearms? I must say that I find them entirely without honor. I would much rather use a sword.

[ontrial]

You're also a combatant, then?

[ at least this ship will be well defended if anything happens, even if barriss is going to keep stubbornly hoping nothing dangerous ever does. ]

[bloodbiter]

Yes, that's correct. I have several years of military experience. And yourself?

[ontrial]

I was raised by an Order than started training for battle young, with sabers and staffs. We've been at war for the last two and a half years but I was already involved in... let's call it dynamic diplomacy before that.
