I wanted to let anyone who may be interested that I've transferred ships from the Huntress to the Golden to be with a friend who recently arrived in the Fleet.

[but that isn't the only reason she made this broadcast. she's curious about something as well.]

I know others have mentioned there is a spot in this planet that will provide one important item to you. I was wondering what others have received. I think it would be interesting to hear about.

[Gendry was never the sort of person to talk about himself and small talk was hard. He'd also finished the pudding cup, which was its own tragedy right there. He was running his finger around the corners to get the last bits.]

I can't make you a sword. [He's not even looking up when he says that.] Least, not with the material I have down there. We've plenty of shovels, though. Lots of folk wants shovels down there.

Oh, no, that's not why I was asking. I already found someone who's told me they would be able to do so. I really was simply curious.

No one in the fleet does. [A fact he'd caught on to, prompting him to offer more shovels than he could actually give out. What follows is that sort of stilted silence that comes when conversing with a person that doesn't really get behind the concept of conversing. He speaks again as a way of filling that silence, merely out of obligation.]

How long have you been here?

Nearly one month, I think. [It wasn't something he'd really kept track of, given that he was having to deal with different planets and all.] You've been here longer.

[She had said as much before, though she hadn't pinned a timeframe on it.]

Yes, that's correct. I believe that it's been roughly six months now.

[a pause.]

How do you find this place so far?

[If he liked it, he would say so. But since he didn't, well.]

It's all rubbish. I've given it a lot of thought and I don't care for any of it.

[a small laugh, amused but not mocking by any means.]

A very valid observation, I think. I feel the same for the most part.
