[Jon, for the most part, is staying planetside--he has a room at an inn and everything, and not being cooped up in the ship all day is doing wonders for him, as he seems slightly less grumpy than usual.

...well, that, and the fact that he has somehow, thanks to the giving tree, obtained a small, albino wolf puppy. Ghost is a very quiet pup, so quiet that he hasn't actually made a sound, and also a very curious pup, so whenever Jon drops by the ship--mostly to perform his duty as an engineer and check to see if everything's working right--Ghost will most likely go exploring.

So, uh, enjoy a tiny white puppy getting all up in your business, folks! Don't worry, Jon's probably not far behind.]

[How far behind his Jon from Ghost? Because if it just around the corner he'll hear the manly shriek of surprised terror before he sees how high Vash suddenly jumped into the air in the kitchen.

He didn't mean it. Just when you're making a sandwich and letting yourself get lost in thoughts and suddenly there is something cold and wet sniffing your butt a startled yelp is of course the best course of action.

Hopefully he won't scare Ghost too much with his sudden movement and loud yelling.]

[Ghost does not actually yelp, but he does skitter backward, clearly surprised at the reaction he just got from this strange man. Jon comes in about three seconds later, scooping Ghost up with a soft huff.]

There you are. [He looks back up at Vash.] I apologize, this is the first time he's been on a ship like this.

[It's fine that Ghost doesn't yelp. Vash will do that loud enough for the both of them.] Ah, that's okay. He just, surprised me. [A lot.] So, did you adopt him here? [Seeing as Vash hasn't seen a dog around here before.]

C'mere, you. [He bends down, and Ghost all but bounces into his arms. Then he stands, idly scratching the wolf pup behind his ears.] Not exactly--did you hear of the tree? The one that gave gifts to people.

[ luna comes bounding around the corner to meet her brother or friend, arya isn't sure they're related. ghost is white, luna is dark gray with some white. opposites. but nymeria didn't look like the real ghost either. but in arya's heart, her wolf heart, she knows they are as connected as arya is to jon.]

Luna! Come back here!

[Ghost, in turn, is ready to pretty much collide with his sister, playfully nipping at her ear once they've met back up. Hello, sister, he has missed you so much. Granted, it's only been a few hours since the last time they saw each other, but it feels so long and he wants to show her everything he's found.

Then Jon rounds the corner, wiping down his hands. Clearly he's been doing some engineering.]

There you are, I was starting to worry when I couldn't find you. [That's addressed to Ghost. The next is addressed to Arya:] I think you'll be running after her for a time, she seems excited.

She doesn't listen. [ Arya is starting to think that Luna is more like Nymeria than she thought. She moves to grab at Luna who then nips at Arya, thinking it's a game.] I was trying to put her away so I could come help you.

She'll learn to, in time. [And he bends down, and Ghost immediately bounds into his arms, clearly elated to see him.] Well, I'm here now, and nearly done with maintenance. If you want, I can show you how to do the rest of it.

[ Ino happens to be making some food in the kitchen, and what better to attract the attention of a puppy than food?

She may not be able to hear him, but she can sense the dog's energy, so when he trots into the kitchen, she turns to look and --

Well, how in the world did you get in here?

[Ghost does not whine--he doesn't have the capability, and Jon's currently too busy in the engine room to come by and explain--but instead he gently headbutts Ino's ankle, and tilts his head up at her. He has come to expect food out of whoever's using the kitchen at the time, and he is going to get food out of Ino somehow.

If that means taking advantage of his cuteness, then by the gods he will.]

[Hopefully Jon doesn't mind others spoiling Ghost, because Ghost's trotted by the kitchen and now he's getting scraps of bread fed to him by a girl in there. Shirley's kneeling down for a better look and she's clearly a bit charmed by the puppy.]

You're so cute...you can't talk, can you? No, it doesn't look like it.

[You meet a bunch of talking otters, you learn to ask some questions.]

[No, he can't, he's pretty quiet all by himself. But Ghost can still communicate in other ways, and is proving it by happily pushing his wet nose up into Shirley's palm, as if seeking a few scratches on the head. Spoil him. Spoil the shit out of him.]

No, he can't. [comes a voice from the doorway leading into the kitchen, and there's Jon, leaning against the frame, wiping his hands on a rag.] But I think he likes you already.

[Shirley is very happy to spoil the dog, and quickly proceeds with the head-scratching. She looks up when Jon starts to speak, but still keeps petting Ghost more slowly.]

I'm glad to hear that. Is this your pet or your partner?

A partner. [A wolf is no pet, and a direwolf is even less so, for all that Ghost is currently enjoying getting his head scratched.] His name's Ghost.

Vash the Stampede | OTA

[Those who spend the night on the Three Twins over the past month or so may hear noises from Vash’s room of someone waking suddenly with a start or gasp. No shouts or screaming at least, but if that isn’t clear enough the bags under Vash’s eyes will probably show he hasn’t been sleeping well. Or maybe it’s the occasional soft sounds of someone crying and trying to hide it late at night that can sometimes be heard that's the reason.

Also at times in the kitchen or other places around the ship if he's the only one there you might catch him starring into space with a sad frown. Only the moment you walk in his usual smile pops back into place and he'll cheerily ask how things are going.

Any other given time he's the same old annoying Vash, just with a smile that isn't as big as it normally is.]

[A - Arrival]
[Shirley arrives in the usual shower of confetti and celebratory dessert, and even though she's been expecting it she's still a little disoriented by the sudden teleportation and by the fact that the Three Twins...isn't the Huntress of several months ago, pretty much. Not that anywhere is right now, including her old ship, so Shirley tries to get over that and take the Three Twins as it is.

Currently she's taking a second to enjoy her artificial pudding and mentally prepare herself for getting accustomed to the new ship. It'll be fine, really. Just good to take a minute and get a snack first.]

[B - Settling in]
[Shirley is in and out for the next few weeks, sometimes hanging around for most of a day and sometimes barely present at all. It's not that she doesn't like the people on the Three Twins, but Shirley is a girl who knows what works for her and what works for her is finding ways to make a place into home. That takes resources, which take money, and since she doesn't have much of that it's off to earn some acorns on the planet they're visiting.

When Shirley's aboard, she's usually found in one of two places. Much of the time she's on the bridge, familiarizing herself with the area and especially communications equipment because the Atroma saw fit to fill her brain with something different this time around. The rest of the time she's often in the kitchen, baking - and that's much more as the smell of yeast and fresh bread starts circulating around the ship.

What says home like some good homemade food, with fresh ingredients from down below?]

[No matter how depressed Vash may be at this time of year he cannot hide his excitement for great food. So one of the first times that Shirley is baking when Vash is on the ship he's poking his head into the kitchen.]

That smells amazing! What are you making?

[Oh, Vash! Shirley turns and gives him a friendly smile from her station in front of the oven. She doesn't move towards him, since she's still keeping an eye on the oven, but it's clear enough that she's in a good mood at the moment.]

It's just some bread. The ovens here are different from what we had where I come from, but I used to do this all the time.

Just bread? If that is fresh baked, home made bread then you are doing yourself a disservice calling it just bread.

[Hope Shirley doesn't mind Vash coming in to also take a peek at the baking bread.]

[ Well, there's a somewhat familiar face. You'll have to excuse Ino, Shirley -- she's gone home for a few years, so her memory's pretty fuzzy about some things, but ... ]

Oh, hey ...! Are you on this ship now?

[hearsthesea]

[Does Ino look different or has it been that long since Shirley's seen her? But hey, Shirley appreciates the familiarity whichever way!]

I guess so. It looks like the Atroma took me away for a while, and now they're making me start over again.

[He'd been spending nearly all his time on the planet since arriving there, but he'd told Hermione he intended to start his garden in the Three Twins clinic as well as add to the larger, general one. That meant taking what resources he'd gathered onto the ship so they were settled and ready by the time they took off again.

Today was one of those days and today he'd decided to take a walk around the ship in case anyone had changed anything or anyone new had shown up he'd missed. It seemed the latter was what waited for him in the kitchen.

And what a greeting it was, how long had it been since he'd smelled fresh bread?]

Maker's breath, that is the best smell in any world.

[He came further into the room and gave the girl a smile.]

If you're trying to make friends, you're doing wonderfully.

[Shirley's having a good time with the baking, even if it means babysitting the ship's oven a bit, so she gives Anders an easy smile when he comes into the kitchen.]

I didn't make it just for that reason, but it does smell good, doesn't it? I used to do this when I was living together with a friend of mine, so it reminds me of home.

[He smiles back with a wink.]

Well, soon enough, you're going to make this place smell like home too. When we're up in space with nowhere to run to, that'll be invaluable, let me tell you.
